Chapter 30: Permanent Getaway

Later that same Saturday, Fluttershy and I were busy video chatting her family. Though a lot of tears of joy and relief were shed, we found out that her family had been staying at a motel up in the Crystal Empire since last night. Her mother was finally at ease... For now, it seemed. She had already filed a domestic violence report on her husband. No arrests had been made as of right now, but if the arrest fails to go through, restraining orders will be their next tactic.

"I'm fine as long as Fluttershy is in good care. I should have called you, Shy. I'm so sorry," her mother said to her choking back tears. Fluttershy smiled understandably.

"It's okay, I promise. As long as he doesn't hurt you, I don't care where you all are," Fluttershy said sweetly. I rubbed her back comfortingly.

"If it gets too expensive there, my door is always open for you all. I hope you know that," I said. Her mother shook her head.

"No... We can't do that. I don't want to impose. I promise you, we're okay here. I very much appreciate your offer though, Rainbow," she said to me with a smile. Next to her in the frame of my laptop was Angel reaching for her with outstretched arms. She picked him and sat him on her lap. His eyes sparkled when he saw his sister.

"Fluttershy!" He said loudly, happily. Fluttershy laughed and waved at him. Her mother laughed along.

"Well, I'll let you both go. I'm sure you have more important things to do." Her mother said. She looked over at me, "and thank you again for the offer. I'll take it into consideration if anything goes wrong. I promise."

We agreed and hung up. Fluttershy sighed in relief. We looked over at each other after I closed the laptop shut.

"It'll all get sorted out, Shy. I promise you." I kissed her on the nose and held a small grip on her hand. She smiled.

"I know... I actually just remembered I need to head over to work. At the animal shelter. Can you drop me off?" I shook my head at her and smiled.

"Don't ask questions you know the answer to."

After dropping her off, I went ahead and drove over to Twilight's house in Ponyville. The drive didn't take too long. When I arrived, I knocked on the door waiting for a response. As I fidgeted around with the strap of my helmet, Spike answered the door looking... Normal.

"Hey! What's up?" He moved to the side to allow me inside. I gave him a strange look, but nonetheless made my way inside their house - well library.

The walls of the home were wooden boards as were the floorboards. In every other corner of this room of the house were filled with flower pots and a few succulents. All of the walls were built in bookshelves. Every shelf was filled top to bottom with every kind of book you can possibly imagine owning. At the center was a rectangular maroon rug and a brown loveseat in front of a coffee table made out of a large tree stump.

"How are you holding up, Spike? I mean... with the whole... You know," I said, dropping down onto the couch. He looked confused for a moment.

"You mean with Rarity and I?" He asked. I nodded. He shut the front door and paced around the room. "Well... Obviously she told me what's been going on. I was hurt, of course. But... at the same time I was willing to forgive her."

"Huh?" I asked him shocked. He chuckled.

"Well... I have to someday. After all, we're all friends. I'll always see them. I think its dumb to stay mad about something. If she truly loved Applejack, then that's okay. I'm not damaged by this. It was a learning experience for the both of us. Me and Rare are still on speaking terms. We both agreed to be civil, so long as the other is comfortable," he answered. Wow. That's surprisingly very mature of him.

"Huh... Nice. I'm proud of you for not being childish about that, regardless if it hurt you or not," I replied to him with a small clap. He laughed.

"Thanks... Well, Twilight is in her room with Sunset. She spent the night." Spike responded nonchalantly. He walked back to his bedroom before grabbing a book from one of the shelves.

I stood up, leaving my helmet and black leather jacket on the loveseat. I gently knocked on Twilight's door. After what I saw with Rarity and Applejack... I am NOT taking any chances!

"Coming!" Twilight shouted from inside. There were was shuffling behind the door before Twilight opened up. She was wearing her usual school outfit. Only difference being that her hair was curled and put up in a bun. She was wearing her reading glasses. Behind her, Sunset was laying down on her bed reading a comic book.

"Hey! What brings you here?" She asked me. I shrugged and let myself in. Her bedroom was kinda like a two story house. To get to her bed, one had to climb a small set of wooden stairs. That little floor also had built in bookshelves, this time being occupied by Twilight's favorite novels. Beneath where her bed was, was a rectangular opening where a mahogany desk sat, neatly organized. The rest of her room mostly just had random photos of friends on family on the wall.

"Eh... Nothing much. I was actually going to ask if you've heard anything from Rarity or Applejack," I asked. Twilight and Sunset both glanced at each other.

"... Well... Rarity personally apologized to Twilight, and Spike of course, after you and Fluttershy left the party. Since then, we haven't heard much else," Sunset replied.

"Ah... Well that's good - in a way. Anyways... Are the rumors true?" I smirked, looking at Twilight. She blushed.

"What rumors?" She asked meekly. Sunset blushed as well.

"You two." I said bluntly.

"They made it official a few days ago!" Spike shouted from his room. I held back my laughter.

"Gee, thanks a lot, Spike." Twilight yelled back, still blushing.

"Why didn't you say something?" I questioned them both. They shrugged.

"We were planning on telling you all at the party, but of course... Things happened," Sunset answered. I smirked at Twilight.

"Good job, egghead. I knew you'd find someone soon," I said teasing her. She slapped my arm with a book she had in her hand. It only made me laugh harder. "Well, just wanted to see you guys... I'm going to see Pinks now. See ya!"

-

After exiting Twilight's house, I got on my motorcycle and headed over to Sugarcube Corner. After arriving, I set my helmet down on the handles and was about to enter until I heard my name being called out from somewhere. I spun around, and looked everywhere.

"Help!" A faint cry was heard. My instincts kicked in, and I ran trying to track down the voice. Again, the same person called out, this time their voice sounding closer.

"Where are you?" I yelled out. I stood in front of an alleyway between two apartment buildings. A loud metallic clang made behind a dumpster in the alleyway grabbed my attention. I walked towards it only to find a shiny quarter laying on the filthy ground.

Before I was able to turn around, some sort of dark fabric was wrapped around my head. I flailed around wildly, trying to hit my attacker. A couple pair of hands grabbed my arms down. Another hand grabbed hold of my head and slammed it down in front of what I assumed to be the dumpster.

After, my attackers resumed to kick and punch me everywhere, including my face, knocking the breath out of me. After a final kick to my lower back, I groaned in pain and curled up in a ball. The attackers laughed as they ran away. One of them stayed behind and searched my pockets, only taking my keys surprisingly. I choked trying to breathe.

A quick flash ignited through the fabric covering my head. Their footsteps crunched away with each step. I shakily grabbed and pulled off the fabric weakly. My vision was blurry, but I was able to make out a thin figure with short white hair walking away, twirling my motorcycle keys in their finger. Everything else was a blur.

My lungs burned with each breath I took. I fell back onto the ground before blacking out entirely.
