Chapter 15: Sick Bunny Sad Bunny

***1 Week Later***

"... So... Like... About that Nightmare Night party this coming month... Do you - would you like to come with me?" Rainbow Dash asked me. Instead of leaving home on the bus, Rainbow drove the both of us down to the park where we were currently cuddling underneath one of the large oak trees. I was sat in between her legs, whilst her arms were wrapped around my waist defensively.

I giggled at her invitation, then tilted my head to the side a bit to look at her, "You've already asked me to go with you when we went to Sugarcube Corner, Dashie... And to answer your question, yes, I would love to go with you."

Rainbow Dash bit her lip nervously, then buried her face in the crook of my neck as her grip around me tightened just a tad. We both laughed, and just sat there with a good view of our surroundings. October was quickly approaching, and already most of the trees were beginning to lose their natural emerald colors.

The sky was painted a gorgeous yellow-orange color that faded into a dark pink. Several large clouds loomed over us, and the sun was being kept hidden by one of the clouds. The scenery itself looked like a finished masterpiece made by a talented artist - it was beautiful.

"What are you thinking about?" Rainbow began twirling the end of my hair in her fingers, and I could hear the curiosity echo in her tone of voice.

"I'm not exactly thinking about anything in particular... Just admiring the way it looks out here. I mean - just look at everything," I replied, and felt Dash pause her hair-playing. Within a few seconds, she resumed to what she was doing.

"You're right, it does look great out here... I wouldn't mind staying outdoors if it looked like this every single day, actually..." I felt Rainbow begin to braid the back of my hair, and to annoy her a little, I leaned back onto her. "Aw, Flutters! I was doing something productive for once..."

She sounded so heartbroken and I couldn't hold back the laughter anymore. I got up from where I was sitting and turned around to look at Dash. She had a pout on her face along with those adorable puppy eyes. I smiled at her, and looked at the outfit she had chosen for today: a plain grey muscle shirt, black skinny jeans that were torn from the knees, and some charcoal colored Vans. Her rainbow hair was in its usual messy state, except this time she wore a black bandana casually around her head, her hair spilling over perfectly.

"Flutters... Come back, I already miss you," she held out her arms sadly. I rolled my eyes, then finally decided to go right ahead and sit down on her lap again - this time facing her. The moment I returned to my spot, she snaked her arms around my waist and kissed my cheek softly, causing butterflies to soar through my stomach madly. "Can I come over to your house, for once? We always go to mine, and its getting boring there... Please?"

"I'd have to check in with my mom to see if she's okay with it, though." Rainbow Dash groaned internally, then poked my arm. "Give me a second... I'll call her right now."

"Aw, yeah!" She fist bumped the air, as I pulled out my cell phone and dialed in my mom's number. After a few rings, she finally picked up.

"Hey, Shy! Thank goodness you called - I was just going to call you," She answered with a sigh of relief.

"Oh, all right... Well, what was it that you needed?" I questioned her, and dragged my fingers along Dashie's hair slightly.

"Your little brother is sick, and I was wondering if you can come home to watch over him while I'm at work - I'm taking the night shift tonight, and Featherweight is working on a school project in his room, so I don't know if you'll be up for giving Angel medicine and putting him to bed."

"No, I don't mind... Um, would it be okay if Rainbow Dash can come over too?" I heard my mother laugh on the other side of the line.

"Absolutely - but come home right now, because I need to leave the house already, okay? I'll see you when I get back home. Have fun, you two!" She hung up, and before I put my phone away completely, I glanced over at the time and saw that it was already six forty-seven, which meant that Dashie and I have been here in the park for almost a full hour.

"So... What's up?" Rainbow asked from below me, and stroked my cheek ever so gently. A light blush formed across my cheeks with her action.

"My little brother is sick, and my mom says it's okay for you to come over," I responded, and got up for the second time in a row. Rainbow Dash followed my movements, and grabbed hold of both of our backpacks, which I soon felt bad for. "You know, I can carry mine -"

"No, no... I like helping out," She chuckled to herself, then pulled out her car keys out of her front pocket, then unlocked the sky blue car. She then tossed the bags in the backseat, and soon we sat down on the front seats of the car, and were off.

After a short drive, Rainbow Dash and I finally arrived at our destination - my home. The both of us exited the vehicle, and Dash followed close behind with our two backpacks over her shoulder. I grabbed the house keys from my front pocket and soon unlocked the front door, and walked inside.

"Where do you want these?" Rainbow asked, referring to our bags. I shut the door after she entered, then pointed over to the brown leather couch of the living room. She nodded and carefully placed them down on the cushion and straightened herself out and walked up to me, "Where's the sick one at?"

"'The sick one' is my little brother, Angel. Don't be mean," I pinched her cheek gently and giggled. She grumbled a little but soon stopped as my hand locked with hers perfectly. I soon led the way to Angel's bedroom which was straight down the hallway. Rainbow Dash and I stood in front of the white door, which had the name "ANGEL" pasted on the door neatly, in blue lettering. I knocked on the door and waited for a few moments before entering.

The inside of the room was messy as any other kid's room would be. Toys were littered all over the white carpet of the room, and stick figure drawings of our family were taped up on the walls sloppily. An open wooden toy chest sat across from Angel's bed and was drawn on. Typical.

"Hey, Angel... How are you feeling?" I asked, after finding him laying down on his bed quietly. I ushered Rainbow Dash to come in, and she obliged. In a matter of seconds, we were standing near his bed.

"Bad," came Angel's simple reply. He turned around in his bed to face me, and when he did, his brown eyes widened when we witnessed Rainbow Dash behind me. "Stranger danger! Fluttershy, stranger behind you!" Angel shot out of his bed, grabbed hold of my arm and pulled me forward onto his bed, which failed to say the least, but I played along.

"Whoa, whoa - easy, Angel. I'm Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy's... Friend," Rainbow dash said, putting her hands up over her head. I giggled, and messed up Angel's hair. Upon doing so, I took notice of how hot his forehead was.

"Angel! You're burning up! Lay back down, I'll get you something for that..." I gently pushed my brother back down to his pillow, and gave him his prized stuffed animal - a large white rabbit with a black bowtie around its neck. In an instant, he snuggled right up to it, and hugged it tightly as if it was the rabbit's last day in Equestria. "Watch him for me... I'll be back in a minute."

Rainbow Dash nodded as I walked out of the room to go to the bathroom to get a small towel. After doing so, I turned on the faucet and waited for the cold water to hit. When it did, I wet the entire towel with it then shut off the faucet. I twisted the towel several times so that it wouldn't be so wet. Before I was able to finish, I heard a shout of what sounded like pain from Angel's room. I gasped, and quickly ran back, only to see Angel hitting Rainbow Dash with his stuffed rabbit viciously.

"Ow! Quit it! I didn't even do anything!" Rainbow shouted, shielding herself with her two hands as the beatings grew harder.

"Stranger danger, stranger danger!" Angel squealed when he saw me at the doorway. I glared at him, and he soon sat back down onto the bed. I continued on with my deadly gaze until he apologized to Dashie. The rainbow haired teen looked up at me in disbelief.

"You're going to stay in bed, and I'll give you your medicine right now - and no more hitting people, Angel." I scolded him, and he simply stayed quiet and fiddled around with his little fingers looking very ashamed.

"Okay..." He responded silently. He laid back down on the bed, and I then placed the cold towel over his forehead.

"This will help make the heat go away... Dashie, can you go get his medicine? It should be in the kitchen on the counter."

"You don't need to tell me twice," Rainbow responded, sounding grateful. I laughed, and patiently waited for her return. During the wait, I had asked Angel to pick up his room when he gets better. Normally he would complain, but I guess today wasn't that kind of day.

About two minutes later, Rainbow Dash returned with the bottle of that horrid tasting medicine I used to take as a kid, and a metal spoon. I opened it effortlessly, then poured a tablespoon worth of the medicine into the spoon then gestured for Angel to open his mouth when he sat up.

Rainbow Dash's POV
It was extremely wonderful to see how caring Fluttershy was towards the little devil. Like, I seriously didn't do anything to him when Shy left the room! I was just doing as she asked and he randomly smacked the side of my head with that rabbit of his. It kind of hurt, now that I really think about it...

"... There. If you start to feel sleepy, that's just the medicine. Don't stay up playing with your toys, or drawing, okay? You need to get some rest. You'll feel good as new by tomorrow morning. Keep the towel on your forehead too... I love you, Bunny," Fluttershy's sweet voice filled my head, and when I looked back to her, she kissed Angel's nose gently then tucked him.

She spun back around and grabbed my hand again, and soon we were out of his room. After Shy had shut the door behind us, we were about to head into her room until another door opened unexpectedly, startling us.

Standing at the doorway was a tall guy - and I mean, tall - with wavy brown hair and chocolate eyes. He wore a wrinkled white graphic tee with a Polaroid camera on it, and some black shorts. A little bit of stubble was growing on his chin, and he looked a bit like Fluttershy.

"What happened?" He spoke in a scratchy voice. He looked over at Fluttershy and then at me, and continued to exchange glances at the both of us.

"Angel attacked... My friend, Dash, with his stuffed animal," I know we had spoken about keeping our relationship a secret from our families for a while and all, but I still felt a bit hurt whenever one of us referred each other as just "friends".

"Ah, okay... Well, I kinda need everything to be quiet since I'm working on my report, and studying for this test next week." Fluttershy apologized then agreed with what he had to say. "And before you guys leave - what's your name? I've seen you around before, and on YouTube also..."

He looked over at me, and I paused. He must have seen the videos Pinkie Pie posted of the band and I performing. "Oh - the name's Rainbow Dash. I sing and play guitar for the band, The Neverlanders... What about you?"

"Oh, damn, no wonder you looked so familiar! Ha-ha, my friend, Twist, is just crazy about your band. She wouldn't believe me if I told her you were in my house... Anyways, I'm Featherweight - the middle child." I smiled at the compliment and looked over him once more. Featherweight seemed like the oldest in the family if you ask me.

"That's cool - and nice to meet you by the way. Tell Twist I said hi, by the way," I said with a slight chuckle. Featherweight laughed and we both said our "bye's" before he closed the door and resumed with his work. The moment the door closed, Fluttershy locked our hands together and kissed my cheek gently. Gosh, she is going to kill me with that adorable factor of hers...

"W-What was that for?" I asked. Fluttershy giggled then stood in front of me.

"Nothing... Let's go to my room, I got a new TV set for it a couple days ago, and I have some movies we can watch together -"

"Before we watch the movie... Would it be okay if maybe we can build a pillow fort or something...?" I nervously scratched the back of my head, then noticed that Fluttershy hadn't said anything. I was getting worried that I might have bothered her, but instead she laughed and agreed with my idea. I swear, I couldn't stop smiling when she said that.

After about ten minutes and stealing the cushions from the sofa in Fluttershy's living room, we managed to build a pretty neat fort. Although a part of it fell to the ground, Fluttershy rushed to the kitchen to grab a chair from the table to help hold up the fort.

"Okay... That should do it," Fluttershy muttered out, placing the two cushions next to the chairs. After doing so, she gave me the signal. I grabbed hold of her blanket and draped it over the chairs effortlessly. Our little fort wasn't big - in fact, it looked pretty crappy to say the least. The only thing that made it look nice was the fact that Fluttershy and I built it together.

After admiring our work together, we soon laid out a fleece Disney blanket inside the fort. Fluttershy practically squeaked in happiness, and it had to be the most adorable thing I have ever heard. She quickly crawled inside and brought her knees up to her chest, and patted down on the empty spot beside her.

With no hesitation, I sat down beside her and put an arm around her shoulders, bringing her in closer to me. The pastel haired girl leaned her head on my shoulder and linked her arm around mine tightly. I could already tell that she had some thoughts on her mind. But what exactly?

"... Dashie?" She finally spoke up, but very softly. Then again, that wasn't abnormal, considering how quiet she typically is.

"Hm?" I replied back, running my fingers through her hair slowly. She didn't speak up for a moment, and it was then I was starting to get anxious. Had I done something wrong?

"Why... Why did you choose me?" She scooted away a little and looked me in the eye. Her gorgeous teal eyes were beginning to water just a little.

"Because... I didn't choose you just because of your looks. I chose you because I felt something that no one else has ever made me feel before... You made me feel important, you make me feel so happy and giddy inside - I just can't explain how great you make me feel. I-It's... Phenomenal...

"And... The way you smile, the way you laugh and giggle whenever I do something idiotic... The way you hold my hand and just lean yourself against me when you're sleepy - the way you kiss my cheek out of nowhere... Gosh, I just... I can't explain the feeling anymore. You make me feel more alive than I have ever felt before." I finished. When I looked back up to meet Fluttershy's gaze, her mouth had fallen open as if she just saw a ghost.

My face heated up instantly, and I nervously scratched the back of my head, "You know... It's just... Whatever."

"No... It's not whatever. All that stuff you just said to me... I've never heard you speak to me like that before. Thank you so much, for making me happy again... It's been so long since... Since..." She was never able to finish her sentence for the tears beat her to it.

"Whoa... Flutters... It's okay, it's okay... I'm here..." I quickly wrapped my arms around her and felt her grip around me tighten as she continued to sob into my neck. What could have happened to have made her do this?

I rubbed her back slowly in circles, and occasionally kissed her neck. Her breathing slowed, and eventually she was able to calm down. She pulled herself away from me, and wiped both eyes with her hand. She apologized for "causing a scene" and refused to make eye contact with me. I grabbed both her wrists gently and leaned forward, our noses touching.

"Don't do this to me, Shy... Talk to me, please..." I pleaded, feeling her fingers intertwine with mine tightly.

She breathed in, then exhaled slowly. She opened her eyes once more and began to tell me a story, I would never forget.
