The name alone sent a massive explosion of hurt in the air, and I could feel myself being swallowed up by the negative energy in almost an instant. I hadn't heard that name in such a long time, and I swear, it felt like the world was close to ending inside of me.
"Are you feeling okay, Rainbow? You're looking really pale..." Sonata asked me with concern filling her voice. I couldn't think clearly, and images of my past's face continuously flashed in my mind without a warning, and it seemed like the world was spinning without end. Unknowingly, I stood up and attempted to walk away from the trio behind me.
I don't know how it occurred, but I somehow wound up on the cold hard ground. My vision slowly blurred, and the last thing I saw was Adagio and her sisters running towards me with panic-stricken looks on their faces. The last thing I heard before blacking out was the sound of Gilda's laugh echoing through my throbbing head.
I opened my eyes slowly, finding everything to be completely white. It took me a few seconds to get used to the bright lighting, and soon enough I found myself lying down on the grass somewhere. Slowly, I sat up and rubbed my eyes before stretching.
For a moment, I observed my surroundings and saw that I was somewhere highly familiar - only problem was that I couldn't exactly pinpoint where exactly I was situated at the moment. The more important question here... How and when did I get here?
My eyes fell on myself, and I noticed that I was no longer wearing the outfit I had picked out today. Instead, I was wearing a white muscle shirt with denim shorts and black Vans. My typical rainbow hair was styled up into a messy ponytail, and I had an extra black hair band around my left wrist - wait a minute... My tattoo! It's gone!
I instantly began to panic about my current situation. What the Hell is going on right now?!
"Hey, Dash. Feel like skipping school again tomorrow?" An all too familiar voice asked me, and my whole body tensed up. For some reason, my body was acting on its own, excluding my train of thought. My head quickly turned to the girl sitting down beside me, and then I saw her...
Short, snow white hair with dyed purple tips with matching amber colored eyes. The girl had nicely tanned skin with a perfectly slender but slightly muscular build. She had on a tight fitting white tank top underneath a brown flannel along with dark skinny jeans and brown Doc Martens. Several bracelets circled around both wrists, and a dog tag hung loosely around her neck. Gilda.
The teen pulled out a packet of Marlboro cigarettes from the front pocket of her flannel, withdrew one from the box and brought it up to her lips. Once doing so, she withdrew a small silver lighter from her back pocket and ignited the cigarette. The end of the cigarette glowed vibrantly, and smoke begun to fill the air around us.
"Definitely," I responded to her with a casual voice, before swooping in and pulling a second cigarette from her pack. I held it in between my lip and leaned forward as she willingly lit it. By this moment, smoke and nicotine filled our lungs and poured out from our lips.
I so desperately wanted to stop, and throw the cigarette far away as possible until I came to a realization... This is just a memory.
That explains why I couldn't control my actions, and that also explains why I didn't have my tattoo on my forearm. Not to mention the fact that Gilda was here with me and that I was making these bad decisions... This must have been my freshman year since I suddenly seemed to recall that I always came to this same area every day after school before.
"Doesn't surprise me. Hey, isn't your sister going to be at your house today?" Gilda asked me, then took another long drag from her cigarette. I looked over at her and felt a smile crawl onto my face.
"Nope. Plus, my dad went somewhere and isn't coming back until tomorrow night. Why? You're still up for making pot brownies today or nah?" Seriously... What the Hell was up with me? Now that I really thought about it, this girl has influenced me to do so many horrible things... Like doing drugs, and consuming alcohol. Lucky for me, I quit all that.
"You bet - hey, let's race back to school. We can smoke again at the roof if you're up for it... Unless you're scared," Gilda smirked at me, and I so badly wanted to punch that face of hers. Too bad I couldn't. We both stood up, threw our smokes at the ground and stepped on them.
"Scared? Ha. You wish. If anything, I'm going to beat you again, babe..." I internally cringed when those words slithered out of my mouth. Man, I'm going to kill myself when this is all over - not literally. But... You know what I mean.
We both walked for about a minute before we reached the sidewalk hand-in-hand. Once arriving, we let go of each other then stood beside each other tensely.
"On your mark... Get set..." Gilda began, and I crouched low like I always did when I was in track. "GO!"
I practically sped off like a rocket at that final word, and for the first time in forever, I couldn't stop running. I was determined to win this race, even if it wasn't the last. Inside, I wanted to run away from Gilda and all the hurt she would soon bring to me. But it was my past that determined my future.
Suddenly, everything around me began to warp severely and soon turned pitch black.
"Rainbow Dash...?" A girl's voice was heard, and everything stopped.
"Rainbow Dash? You guys, she's waking up. Give 'er some room," A Southern voice said, sounding very distant. There were a few muffled voices, until finally my senses returned with a puff of imaginary smoke. My eyes slowly opened and I was greeted by another bright light. All was blurry for a split second, before it all cleared up and I was able to see the ceiling hovering above me from a height.
I looked to my right, and saw myself looking at Applejack and Sunset Shimmer. Both looked extremely worried and stressed out about something. I grunted, and soon sat up from where I was lying down. Doing a double-take, I realized I was in the nurses' office here in school. Had the Dazzlings brought me here when I knocked out?
The interior of the room was a light shade of blue, with an ivory ceiling. A variety of health posters were hung up neatly in the walls of the room. Up ahead, was a weighing and height scale the nurses use when they check for your weight and height. Next to that, were a row of three olive green seats, which were being occupied by Pinkie Pie, Twilight, and... Fluttershy? Whoa...
"Ah - Miss Dash! You're finally awake. Thank heavens you're okay. You've been knocked out for at least three hours already," The school nurse, Nurse Redheart, got up from her black swivel chair and walked towards me. She had crimson red hair that was up in a tight bun, and wore the usual white simple dress with white tennis shoes. She sat down on my left and simply explained to me that Adagio, Sonata, and Aria brought me here after I fainted in my gym class. "Such good girls they are, despite what happened with them before... Your friends have been here for about an hour already, waiting for you to wake up."
"Our teachers let us out of our third period class to check on you. Fluttershy, Pinkie, and I all left our classes a few minutes after Twilight told us about what happened. I thought something horrible must have happened to you so I left study hall to come here," Sunset Shimmer said to me, sounding genuinely worried.
"Yeah... But the important thing is that you're okay," Applejack flashed a quick smile at me, and lightly punched my shoulder. We chuckled to ourselves, and I looked down at the white floor. In all honesty, I was surprised that Fluttershy even left her own class just to come by and see me.
"Yes, well... In my opinion, I think that you should go home for the rest of the day. As for the rest of you, I'll write you passes so your instructors won't mark you absent." Nurse Redheart smiled at me, then got up from where she was sitting to return to her desk. The girls all got up and walked to her desk, and surprisingly, Fluttershy walked up to me and sat down next to me.
"How are you feeling?" She asked me timidly. Normally she would refuse any eye contact whatsoever, but now it was clear to me that she cared once her eyes met my own. A strand of her pastel pink hair fell in front of her eyes, and I had to fight the urge to move it. She simply looked gorgeous.
"Uh... I'm feeling good?" It came out more as a question, but if you were in my shoes, you'd probably act like this too. Fluttershy raised an eyebrow and grinned slightly. "I mean, yeah, I'm good! Just a little headache, that's all."
"Oh, okay. Just wanted to make sure how you were doing -"
"Ahem..." We heard someone clear their throat loud enough for us to hear, and when we turned around we saw Applejack smirking at the both of us, then gestured to Fluttershy that it was her turn to get her pass back to class. When I looked back, Fluttershy's face had transitioned into a lobster red color. I burst into a small laugh and Fluttershy hid her face as she got up to go to the nurse's desk. That girl is seriously adorable.
After a moment, we all waved bye to each other and the group exited the office. As the door closed, Nurse Redheart called out to me, and let me know that she was going to call my dad to pick me up. Oh no...
"No, no, no! That's not necessary... He's busy with work and all, so I'll drive myself home like I always do," I said to the nurse sounding a bit shaken up. Nurse Redheart squinted at me and pursed her lips before nodding her head. I got up from where I was previously sitting, and began to exit the room after she told me to be careful on the road.
Finally, I was out in the hallway of the third floor of the school. I sighed and began walking to the staircase. I couldn't help but feel really bad that Adagio, Aria, and Sonata went through all of that trouble bringing me to the nurses' office - they literally had to walk about three floors just to get me here! I'll be sure to thank them for that later.
I reached into my front pocket and took out my phone along with my only pair of earphones. I popped them in and got into my music library and immediately put on the song Dead! by My Chemical Romance. I walked through the deserted hallways with my phone in my hand, scrolling through my other songs. Before I knew it, I had already made it to the first floor. A few seniors and juniors were lounging around here, but I ignored them like I always did.
CUE THE MUSIC
Soon, I made it the exit of the school. Just as I opened the door, someone bumped into me hard, causing me to stumble back a little, and press on a different song in my song list. I was basically going to get up in the person's face about what they did, until I saw them.
Shoulder length snow white hair, with lavender tips and amber eyes with purple eyes shadow and pink lips. They had on a brown jacket with a fluffy white hood with matching black skinny jeans and worn out brown Doc Martens...
This has to be a nightmare. This has got to be a nightmare. Please tell me I'm still dreaming.
The girl smiled deviously, "Watch where you're going, Rainbow Crash."
By this moment, I felt the world crumbling down harshly. If she was here... That would only mean she transferred back here to Canterlot High from Cloudsdale High... I was frozen on the spot, and the sound of her footsteps drifted away slowly.
Gilda was back. And there wasn't much I could do to stop that.
I shakily exited the school and without thinking, I began running to the parking lot.
