Burns From Strangers

A white flash danced across the black night, one moment it was there and the next gone. That white flash was a young girl, tired but determined to keep running. Pain raced through her entire body and only worsened as she collapsed in front of a house. A boy, no more then fifteen opened the door, opened the door. "Gilly!" He exclaimed as he led her inside. The girl winched as she entered, her grandfather was not pleased. "What were you thinking, sneaking out like that?! Why did you go outside?!" Frustration and anger drenched every word. There was a fire in his eyes, rivaling the natural look of the girl's. The young boy placed a hand on the girl's shoulder. Immediately, they saw the sight of angry red burns all across her body, her white hair was singed and darkened. The anger quickly melted off of Germania's face. The boy standing next to her was filled with rage.

"What did they do to her?!"

"Baden, calm down-"

"No! She's a child!"

Germania hushed his grandson and turned to his granddaughter. "This is why you needed to stay here, why did you disobey me?" The young girl sobbed as she spoke, irritating her burns, causing more tears. "I wanted to go outside! I've done everything in my room a hundred times! I just wanted to be...normal." By this time, the child was a sobbing mess, needing comfort. Germania held onto her as she continued to cry. All the while, doing his best to calm her. "It's alright, it's over now. Humans can be cruel, when they don't understand something, they destroy it." Baden led her upstairs to her room. "Don't feel bad about it, Gilly. The next time we go out, we'll bring you something back, promise."
