Chapter 8: Shocks
(Luci's view)
We made our way to the library without being seen while doing our best to keep to the shadows as we followed closely behind the figures when suddenly I slipped and Michael caught me before anyone could notice.
"That was a close one." I said, before letting go of his arm once I'd regained my balance.
"What do you think caused that dizzy spell?" Anwyll asked, as he touched my shoulder in concern.
"I don't know." I said, as we resumed walking along the dark hallway when suddenly I heard footsteps approaching and yanked the boys into a nearby coat closet.
"Merlin Luce, if you wanted to kiss one of us just do it." Michael said, and I chuckled before shaking my head as the three of us listened at the door.
"True, but I think I'll wait." I said, and chuckled when they both pouted.
"Lu.." Anwyll began when I held up a finger to cut him off.
"Not right now, later." I said as we sprinted along the dark corridor.
"We're so close to finding the cure." I said, as we dashed into the nearest closet and began searching through the drawers.
"Come on, come on, come on." I growled, as we continued to root through drawer after drawer until finally my hand closed around something small and rough.
"What is this?" I wondered aloud as I held it out for the boys to see.
"What the hell is that thing?" Anwyll asked, as the three of us looked at it in distaste.
"It's a piece of coal, but how is that going to help us save my godfather?" I asked, before sharing a confused look with the boys.
'I have no idea.' Anwyll's mental voice replied as he shrugged.
"Well, we're going to need two more things." I said, and both boys looked at me in confusion.
"What else do we need to find?" Michael asked as we looked around for the other ingredients.
"Any luck?" Michael asked, as we continued to search through the cabinets.
"No." I said as tears started to build up in my eyes which they noticed before coming over and wrapping their arms around me.
'It'll be okay, we will save him.' Anwyll said, as he rubbed my back before they both let go of me.
"It's going to be okay." Michael said as he cupped my chin with his hand then leaned in to press a light kiss to my forehead.
"Thanks guys." I said smiling gratefully at them while squeezing their hands softly.
"It's no trouble, Lu." Anwyll said as he patted me on the head before the three of us resumed our search for the two remaining ingredients.
"What else could we need?" I thought when suddenly I pricked my finger.
"Ow! what in Merlin's name?" I began and then leaned down to pick up a blue rose.
"A rose?" Michael asked as we all looked at it in confusion.
"The petal of a blue rose." I repeated aloud before plucking a single petal from the beautiful flower.
"Don't you think it's a bit odd that the potion calls for a rose petal?" Michael asked as we continued to look for the last ingredient.
"It is, in fact it makes me curious as to what the last one will be." I said, while using my wand as a light in order to see what I was looking for.
"Any luck?" Michael asked as he and Anwyll appeared by my side.
"No, not yet." I said with a groan before tripping on something and landing on top of Anwyll who raised an eyebrow then helped me to my feet. "What was it?" Michael asked as we looked down at the thing.
"It's a glass shard." I said as I held it out for them to see before slipping the three items into my pocket and grabbing their hands.
"Time to go." I said and they nodded before gripping my hands as the three of us closed our eyes before we were once again enveloped by the blinding light.
