The road to recovery
"And his recovery was hard too." Alexa nodded. I returned it.
"What a lot of people never knew about Luke was that he was very stubborn and independent, which was not a good mix when it came to therapy for his leg. The break was so bad that he needed regular physical therapy for a year to be able to walk properly again. Bearing in mind, when the therapy got underway, I was in the second trimester of the pregnancy, so I was also very moody." I nodded.
"Come on, babe, you can do it." I encouraged as Luke walked along the hall of the hospital, my arm around his waist, giving him stability.
"How far to go?" he mumbled.
"Just to the nurse." I reassured, looking at the nurse who was standing at the end of the hallway.
"Fucking hell." He mumbled.
"Come on, Luke, you've got this." I nodded. He sighed and hissed in pain.
"I need to stop." He mumbled.
"No, come on, you're nearly there-."
"No, I need to stop, my leg is hurting." He sighed. I returned it.
"Okay. Sit down, then." I spoke. He nodded, holding onto me as he lowered himself onto the chair. He held his head in his hands.
"Well, at least you got further than you did last week." I sighed, resting my hands on my pregnant bump.
"Only just, though. It's hardly an improvement." He grumbled.
"Well, you still got further." I shrugged. He sighed and shook his head before standing back up.
"Let's go home." He said.
"But there's still fifteen minutes of your session left-."
"We're going home, Y/N." he cut me off. My eyes widened at him. He sighed and looked down.
"Calum and Jenna are going out tonight, so we need to get back for Kiera." He mumbled. I nodded and grabbed my bag.
"Okay. Let's go." I smiled slightly, though it was forced. He returned it before taking my hand.
Luke opened the door and let us into the house.
"Hey, guys." Jenna smiled from the sofa.
"How did it go?" Calum asked.
"Could have gone better-."
"It was fine." Luke cut me off. I looked at him.
"Okay. Well, I put Kiera to bed half an hour ago, so she should be fine." Calum nodded as they stood up.
"Thanks, guys." I smiled.
"No bother. See you later." Jenna smiled as they shut the door. Luke sighed as he limped to the bedroom. I followed him and walked in the see him pulling his top off.
"You okay?" I asked. He sighed and looked at me.
"I'm not going to my therapy session next week." He mumbled.
"What?" I scoffed.
"Look, I've been in that fucking stupid therapy for half a year now and it's not working. I'm still limping like I lost my fucking leg, not to mention that it can't be good to have a six-foot-four man leaning on you every week when you're seven months pregnant." He mumbled.
"Luke, you need that therapy, yeah your limp is bad, but it's improved since you've been doing the therapy-."
"Y/N, I'm never going to be able to walk properly again, so what's the fucking point?" Luke spat. My eyes widened at him. He sighed before standing from the bed and taking a step before falling down and groaning.
"Jesus!" I exclaimed as I rushed to his side.
"Are you okay?" I asked, kneeling down beside him. He sighed.
"Look at me. I've been reduced to lying on the floor because I can't even stand without my leg giving up." He choked. I sighed.
"You can do it, babe, you've just got to keep going." I reassured. He sighed and nodded.
"Let me help you up." I spoke as I wrapped his arm around my shoulder and my arm around his waist. He stood up and limped to the bed before collapsing onto it.
"You're going to be okay." I reassured, resting my hand against his cheek. He sighed and nodded, taking my hand and pressing his lips to my palm.
"Ow." I hissed, holding my bump.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, your daughter just packs one hell of a kick." I chuckled, lying down next to Luke. He returned my chuckle.
"Can I speak to her?" he asked.
"Of course you can." I smiled. He returned it before shifting so that his head was by my bump.
"Hello there, baby girl." He smiled.
"You're getting so big now. Only a couple more months to wait and then you'll be here. And daddy is going to work so hard to get his leg better so that you can play with him and your big sister when you're old enough to." He spoke. I smiled, running my hand through his hair.
"I love you so much, my little princess, and I can't wait for you to get here." He nodded.
"I'm going to go now because your mummy needs her rest. Goodnight my baby girl, I love you so much." He whispered before kissing my bump.
