Leanne Hemmings
I lay in the hospital bed, gently cradling baby Leanne in my arms. The door opened and Luke walked in.
"I've just called Mikey and he said that he would bring Kiera here." He spoke.
"Oh, that's good." I smiled before looking down at Leanne. I smiled as she slept in my arms.
"She's a very quiet baby." I spoke.
"She is. Already different from her sister." He chuckled. I returned it and nodded as the door opened and Michael walked in with Kiera.
"Daddy!" she squealed as he picked her up.
"Hello, my little princess." He smiled as he kissed her cheek. She smiled before looking at me and Leanne.
"I'm going to head off. Congratulations, guys." Michael smiled.
"Thanks, mate, see you later." Luke spoke as he left.
"I want to meet my baby sister." Kiera said. Luke nodded before gently putting Kiera on the bed. She crawled up the bed and sat next to me. I looked at her.
"This is your baby sister, Leanne." I spoke.
"That's a pretty name." she said.
"I'm glad that you approve of it, sweetheart." I smiled. She returned it as she looked at Leanne.
"She's pretty." Kiera nodded.
"She looks like you when you were born." Luke spoke.
"Does that mean that I'm pretty?" she asked.
"Of course, love." Luke smiled before kissing her head.
"How was Kiera when Leanne was born?" Alexa asked.
"Difficult." I chuckled, making Alexa smile.
"She was two-and-a-half when Leanne was born and so she had received Luke and I's undivided attention for almost three years. And so when she realised that she had to share this attention, she wasn't happy." I spoke.
"Are there any memories of this that stick out?" she asked.
"Yes. The four of us had flown to Australia to introduce Luke's parents and brothers to Leanne, and when we got there, Kiera wasn't happy." I chuckled.
Luke knocked on the door to his parents' house, Leanne asleep in the carrier that he was holding. The door opened to reveal Liz.
"Luke, Y/N, how good to see you." She smiled, kissing Luke's cheek and hugging me.
"Hey, mum." He smiled.
"Grandma!" Kiera squealed as she ran into Liz's arms.
"Hello, Kiera! My, you've grown since you were last here." She smiled.
"Yeah. I'm almost three now." She nodded.
"And can you tell me how old your baby sister is?" Liz asked. Kiera's smile disappeared and she huffed before climbing out of Liz's arms and running into the living room. Liz looked at me.
"Looks like Kiera is suffering from "I'm not my parents' only child anymore and I'm not getting as much attention" syndrome." She chuckled.
"Oh, definitely. She's been pulling all sorts of tricks since we brought Leanne home." I sighed. Liz returned it and nodded as we walked through to the living room.
I sat on the sofa next to Luke, my legs pulled up against my chest as I snuggled into Luke's side.
"She's very calm, isn't she?" Jack asked, looking at Leanne as she slept in his arms.
"Yeah. She's a very settled baby." I chuckled as Kiera toddled in.
"Uncle Jack, look what I can do!" she laughed as she jumped up.
"Very good, Kiera." He smiled. Luke and I looked at each other.
"Here we go." Luke sighed.
"Uncle Jack, I want a hug!" she squealed as she climbed onto the sofa next to him.
"I can't right now, love, I'm holding your baby sister." He smiled. Kiera huffed as she looked at Leanne.
"Just drop her then-."
"Okay, that's enough, baby girl, leave uncle Jack alone." Luke sighed as he stood up and walked to the sofa. "But I want him to give me a hug." She spoke.
"Daddy can give you a hug instead, uncle Jack is busy with your little sister." Luke spoke as he picked her up.
"But daddy-."
"No, sweetheart, come on." He said.
"Daddy!" she screamed.
"Come on, let's get you a drink." He sighed, looking at me as he carried Kiera out of the room.
