Kiera Hemmings
"We found out that I was pregnant only a month after Luke had proposed to me and not a single aspect of the wedding had been planned yet, so we decided to wait to get married until after I had given birth to our baby." I explained. Alexa nodded before briefly looking at the cards that were in her grasp.
"So, we believe that your eldest daughter, Kiera, was born on the 23rd of June and you got married on the 16th of August." She nodded. I returned it.
"Yes, that's right." I replied.
"Tell us about the day that your daughter was born." She spoke. I nodded.
"Well, since it was in June, it was a lovely day."
I sat in the hospital bed, gently cradling Kiera in my arms. She fidgeted in her blanket, a few small wails leaving her lips.
"Shh, shh, baby girl, it's okay, shh, you're okay." I cooed, moving her slightly so that she settled in my arms. I looked up as the door opened and Luke walked in.
"How are my girls doing?" he asked, sitting next to me.
"Fine. She's a bit unsettled, though." I sighed.
"Do you want me to see if I can settle her down?" he asked.
"Sure." I nodded, leaning forward slightly. He stood up and leant down, reaching out his arms. I gently placed Kiera into his arms, another whimper slipping her lips as Luke closed his arms around her.
"Okay, that's it, baby girl, you're okay." He cooed gently, bopping her up and down. She started to settle again as she let out a yawn.
"Aww, babe, she's tired." He chuckled, looking at me.
"So am I." I smiled.
"Okay. I'm going to put her to bed." He nodded before moving to the end of my bed. He started to lower Kiera into the plastic hospital crib.
"Goodnight, my little princess." He smiled at her, gently rubbing her cheek before walking back to my side.
"I have to stay in overnight, so you can go home if you want." I yawned.
"No, babe, I'm staying with you, I'm not leaving your side." He reassured. I smiled.
"Get into bed with me." I spoke, pushing back the covers.
"Babe, that's a single bed, it won't fit us both." He chuckled.
"We can spoon." I shrugged. He chuckled and shook his head as he stood up and took his shoes off.
"You've just given birth and you already want to spoon again." He smiled before climbing in next to me. I turned over so that I was facing the wall. I smiled as I felt Luke's arm wrap around my waist and bring my back against his chest.
"Goodnight, babe. I love you." He mumbled, kissing my neck.
"Goodnight, I love you too." I whispered before closing my eyes.
I climbed out of bed as Luke gently lifted Kiera out of her hospital cot.
"Babe, did you bring any clothes for her?" he asked as he lay her down on the hospital bed.
"Yeah, I packed the onesie that your parents got her." I nodded. He returned it before digging it out and walking back to her. He smiled down at Kiera as he put the onesie on her.
"There we go. Dressed and ready to go home." He smiled as he picked her up and lay her gently against his shoulder. I smiled at them.
"What?" he chuckled. "One second." I spoke before digging out my phone and snapping a picture. He rolled his eyes and smiled as he put her into her carrier and buckled her up.
"You ready to get going, babe?" he asked, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Yeah." I smiled. He returned it and kissed me before grabbing the handle of Kiera's carrier and lifting it up before opening the door.
