Chapter Forty One

It feels good to be in my mates arms like this, after all this waiting.
There's no way Time isn't feeling this too. As he's pressed against me, lips still firmly against mine, I can feel the heat coming from him in waves, his scent so familiar, sparking a fire inside me that I've been trying to hold down ever since I suspected Time didn't have any interest in me in that way. Now that I know he's been holding back on my account, I suddenly want him more than ever.
Like the space between our bodies, the kiss heats up, to the point where excitement bubbles up inside me, as I anticipate where this is going. Unable to stop myself, I press my hand against his chest, keeping his back against the bed, I climb on top of him.
He does seem surprised, as his hands delve beneath my shirt, feeling from my hips to my waist to my ribs, where they find their tentative stop.
And then he pulls away.
"If this is going to happen now, I want you not here, where my brother is right next door, possible searching through your mind. Let me take you elsewhere," I'm says softly through the dark, his fingers caressing my side with such precision and certainty it makes me shiver. I can't see his face, but I know he is looking at me as I linger on top of him.
For a moment, I forget about his abilities, becoming confused at the idea of him 'taking me elsewhere', until the world begins to disappear around us in a rush of wind and a variety of vivid colours that are there one moment, and gone the next.
As the wind settles, breath rushing back into my lungs, I release my squeezed eyelids, looking around to see where Time has taken me.
Light immediately shrouds my vision as I dare open my eyes.
A light breeze entwined with the most subtle scent of the sea greets me, alongside silken sheets that brush gently against my skin. We are in a large room with glass doors that have been pushed wide open, revealing a balcony outside and the most amazing view of a brilliantly blue sky and a calm ocean to match. Wherever we are, it's stunning.
Looking over, I see Time, who is staring at me over the view before us. He's shirtless, which must be how he sleeps. His torso seems to glow wonderfully under the beams of dappled sunlight that flicker through the gauzy net-curtains that billow soundlessly in the wind.
"Where are we?" I question. I've never seen a place like this, or felt this comfortable despite not knowing our location.
With Time I feel safe, wherever he decides to take me.
"Somewhere a few years from our present time. I want to make this special for you, not just in some dark room where I can't even see you," he says softly. My heart flutters, as I lean over to kiss him again, warmth spreading through me that can only be attributed to this moment. I'm happy, for once. Despite everything that has happened with my brothers, coming to this realm and finding out my mate is an immortal...I'm finally comfortable.
Holding my face, Time leans me back into the bed. Suddenly, his touch has my head spinning with dizziness, as he moves his hands back down my body, touching my skin with the most gentle touch, hardly touching me, but doing enough to elicit mind-numbing shivers.
Deciding I can't take it anymore, I push at his chest, and clamber atop him, pulling the dress I was so proud of off swiftly in one smooth movement.
I look down at him, smiling wickedly.
He really is beautiful. Underneath where my legs straddle his hips, his arms are splayed out, his hair mussed across the white pillow, highlighting the gold in his irises. Using the tips of my fingers to do some exploring myself, I run them along the planes of his chest, down over his abdomen, where they find their stop right at the base of his pants.
Our gazes meet for a long, tense moment. He doesn't need me to say a word more, as I begin unbuttoning his pants, half unsure of what I'm doing, while desperate to see him, to feel him. The moment I free him from his cotton binds, I'm suddenly underneath him, and he's kissing me before I have a chance to touch him.
In one glorious moment, everything heats up. My mate is touching me, my thighs, my hips, my waist but never where I want him. Rearing up, I beckon him to touch me, which he finally does, pulling down my panties until they are completely free of my legs.
My entire world erupts with pleasure.
Suddenly the feel of the breeze against my bare skin and the scent of the sea in the air is the least of my concerns. All I can concentrate on is the way his fingers move against me, and then without warning, his mouth. It is all I can do but to grip his hair tightly in my fingers and moan his name into the sound of the waves crashing against the beach.
And then, his fingers slide inside me, slow and deep, and in a rush of vivid colours and euphoria, I find myself tipping over the edge.
The moment everything fades, my eyes open from where they were squeezed shut, seeing Time move up atop me. Smiling lazily, he leans down to kiss me, alighting that feeling back that I've become fond of feeling.
I want more of him.
My hips lift, asking for him. As he pulls away from my lips, kissing down my neck, he is suddenly inside me, and for the first proper time, I feel completely connected to him. I can feel the matebond rushing through my veins, sealing in what was always there, but it's fully reinforced now, like something that could last forever.
"I love you," he breathes in my ear, both his voice and his steady thrusting eliciting shivers of pleasure through out me. Maybe I murmur the same words in reply, but I'm not sure. I'm too busy thinking about the feeling of him inside me, and the way I grip his muscles of his back.
He lets me flip him over, allowing me to take control. But the moment is only fleeting. Once again, the euphoria consumes me, and by the look on Time's face, it controls him too.
Once it fades, I collapse next to my mate on the bed.
Calming my breathing, I look over at him. He stares at the ceiling, blinking slowly, as if he is still trying to gather what just occurred. The smile lingering upon my lips refuses to fade, as I look at him. I have a mate, and I love him. Not because he's powerful, or because he is effortlessly attractive. But because he's my mate, and through everything I have witnessed from him, nothing will change that.
Even if he does have wrongs to right.
"Thank you for taking me here. It's very special, and to be completely honest, the idea of Thought listening in really does creep me out," I say, smiling warmly at Time, who has now averted his attention back to me, completely.
He pulls me closer. "Yes, well that's a whole other issue to deal with when we return. Don't remind me you're trying to get me to bond with the most insufferable immortal there is. Well, aside from all the Sins."
I can't help but laugh, even if I don't know Thought enough to agree.
"I promise it will be worth it. Hating someone for eternity really doesn't benefit anyone," I tell him, nestling into his chest. I'm trying not to do this for me, because I don't want a mate with a full on immortal hatred for another immortal. I want Time to be happy, to be content with his life. And for Thought to, and whoever his future mate may be.
Time looks down at me, playing with my hair gently, letting the black tresses slip through his fingers. "I promise I will resume finding your brothers the moment we return and Thought leaves. I'm not sure how they have evaded me, considering I'm a pure-blood and they are likely still figuring this realm out."
I sigh, closing my eyes. "Who knows. I just hope-"
All of a sudden, before I even have a chance to blink, something black comes through the window at an unbelievable speed. Time jumps, and when I pull myself from my arms, I look down at his chest to see an arrow sticking out of it. I met Time's gaze, as he winces. Clearly an arrow isn't going to kill a pureblood immortal, but when he doesn't move to pull it out right away, concern consumes me.
"It's got some poison on it. I'm paralysed," he mutters through a strained voice. Turning around, I look past the curtains and to the balcony, trying to find where the arrow came from.
The moment I turn back around, giving Time my full attention, I hear a voice from the balcony, as if someone just appeared through magic.
"That doesn't look so good," I hear from behind me. Pulling a blanket up to cover myself, I see a man standing in the doorway. It immediately hits me in the chest, as I realise who this is.
It's my brother.
