Night 6: Part 1: Farewell, Ashton
Tim sighed, sitting down at his desk where his camera always sat. "He's still not back, Mari. What if he never comes back?" He folded his arms on the desk, his face planting in between his chest and arms. Hot, hurt tears ran down his face as he recalled Ashton's words: 'Fine. I'll take the job. But if things go wrong it won't be my fault.'
Mari looked down at Tim, tears forming in her eyes. She sighed, looking at the ground. "I need some fresh air. And I think you need it too. C'mon." She took his hand gently and began to walk.
As they were walking, Mari noticed two figures sitting in the corner of the Parts & Service room. Her expression changed from sadness to confusion as she tugged at Tim, urging him to follow her. Tears running down his face, Tim agreed with no question, tiredly walking alongside Mari.
"That man got what he deserved. Now he feels the irony we feel." Murmurs were heard, faintly at first, but gradually getting louder as Tim and Mari got closer.
"Untrustworthy piece of crap. Makes me feel like an idiot just talking about it."
"I wonder how Tim and Mari are coping without us..."
"I'd imagine pretty horribly. They can't really live without us. Tim especially. We were best friends..."
Tim's eyes widened as he looked down. To his wildest horrors, his friends weren't just gone. They were gone for good. Tim's lips quivered in the mental agony his mind had forced upon him. He broke down sobbing, kneeled in front of what was left of Ashton and Ender.
"Don't cry, Tim. I-It's me, Ashton... You remember all the good times we had, right? You won't forget them, right?..."
"Panicking won't solve this heartbreak, Ashton. It's better if we just leave them in peace..."
Tim calmed down enough, after a few minutes, to whisper to himself: "Farewell, Ashton..."
