Night 3: Part 1: The Third Message
"Wait, so let me get this straight," Tim began, looking at Ashton with a straightforward, confused expression darting across his face. "There's this guy who killed children for what now? I doubt there would be anyone like that in here, I strongly doubt it. But I guess I'll keep a sharp eye out for a man with a katana blade in hand..." Tim looked over at his girlfriend and Ender with concern and anxiety glimmering in his eyes.
Tim sat down in his chair, the phone started to ring as soon as everyone got situated in their normal positions.
{"Hello? Hello! See? I told you all, you wouldn't have any problems! Did, uh, Foxy ever appear in the hallway? Probably not... I was just curious... Like I said, he was always my favorite. They tried to remake Foxy. They thought the first one was too scary, so they redesigned him to be more kid-friendly and put him in Kid's Cove. To keep the toddlers entertained, ya know?"}
{"But kids these days... Just can't keep their hands to themselves. The staff has to literally put Foxy back together after every shift. So eventually they just stopped trying and left her as some 'take apart and put together' attraction. Now she's just a mess of parts. I think the employees refer to her as 'The Mangle'..."}
"The Mangle?" Ashton repeated in a question.
{"Oh, hey. Before I go, I wanted to ease your minds about any rumors you might've heard lately. You know how these local stories come and go, and seldom mean a thing. I can personally assure you. Whatever is going on out there, and however tragic it may be, it has nothing to do with our establishment. It's just all rumors and speculations. People trying to make a buck or two. Uh, our guard during the day has reported nothing out of sorts. And he's on duty from opening to closing."}
{"Ok, well, anyway. Hang in there and I'll talk to you tomorrow."}
The phone hung up. "Rumors? Speculations? This man does realize this is all true, right?" Tim asked, looking at his friends. Mari shrugged. "Maybe he hasn't worked here long enough." Ender nodded in agreement, looking through the vents. As for Ashton, he slipped away quietly to investigate for the purple-shirted man once more.
