When has life ever been normal

"Balthazar?" Casiel grasped her unsteady brother. "What-"

"I don't have much time. You're in trouble. These people are in trouble. I need you to come with me" He spoke quickly.

"Balthy I can't just up and leave-"

"You must, please. I don't ask for your favour often, but-" He whispered something in her ear. Casiel looks visibly distressed for a moment, before snapping into reality and agreeing to go.

The sound of strong angelic wings and she was gone.

"Morning gang!" Tony, beamed, energy heightening with the multiple coffee's he had consumed already.

"Morning Dad" Morgan laughed in reply, fiddling with one of her projects, a new advancement to her watch. Pepper joined them, flicking the coffee machine on and scolding Dummy the robot for handling breakables again.

Tony and Morgan headed to floor 43 to join the rest of the gang for breakfast, as was tradition before they begun the day. Rachel, Luke, Morgan and Kara were all dressed and ready for another school week, books hanging lazily out of worn backpacks and clothes neat, attempting to attract as little attention as possible.

"Unusual for Casiel to be late" Rachel laughed softly, sipping orange juice and taking a bite of toast.

"Casiel!" Morgan called loudly. When no response came, a smidge of worry crossed her features.

"That's weird" Luke commented, glancing around pointedly.

The doors of the elevator opened and a usually calmly presented Bruce Banner staggered out, stressed and unfocused.

"Hey Brucie" Tony greeted, "where's Cas-"

"I was about to ask you" he whimpered, visibly distressed. Glances were exchanged around the table, Casiel never vanished without explanation.

"Alright, calm down" Tony hopped from his seat to comfort his best friend. "We'll find her"

"Damn right we will" Luke jumped up valiantly, followed by Rachel. "Let's go Mini Cap"

Kara glances up patiently, one eyebrow cocked up. "She'd probably be at school if she wasn't here, wouldn't she? Did she have a before school curricular?"

"She's an angel, why would she need curricular activities," Morgan questions pointedly. "In addition to that, we already decided to avoid them as to avoid attention."

"Alright, kids, head to school, the adults will look for Cas" Steve spoke calmly.

"Sir yes sir" Luke murmured, defeated, taking a sip of orange juice and exiting the room with the others.

"Cas wouldn't just disappear" Kara speaks softly but firm.

"I know, but for now, we can't do much. Casiel is a powerful being, she'll be alright even if something was wrong, which I'm sure it isn't" Rachel spoke with easy calmness, but the others found it unsettling this time.

They walked a few blocks towards the school, before a rotten egg flew through the air and hit Morgan hard on the back of the head, causing her to swing around sharply. "Ouch!"

Rachel reaches to check when another collided with her nose, throwing her severely off balance. The same with Luke, as it hits him hard on the neck.

Brittany.

Morgan's temper flared as she started towards them, but Rachel grabbed her firmly, reminding her she cannot draw any attention to herself. Morgan began storming towards the school, echoing taunts of Brittany and her gang chasing them.

"I hate this!!" Stark suddenly snapped, kicking a rock harshly.

"The taunting was getting rather frustrat-"

"No! This! Not being normal! Not being able to stand up to a goddamn bully!!" She snarled.

"Stark, chill out" Kara spoke, taken back by Stark's sudden display of rage. "You're never like this."

"Because Cas always ceases it before she gets the chance" Luke murmurs under his breath.

"I can't take this. This 'behave normally.' Why!! We're not f&cking well normal!!"

The group remained wordless, staring at her, unable to find the words. They felt the same but they never reacted.

"We're a team. If I chose to act out of character, we all have too."

"What are you suggesting" Kara suddenly snaps to reality, realising there was more intention in Morgan's words.

"We can't stay under this 'normal' stereotype. We aren't normal"

"Stark, we're not breaking the rules" Rogers spoke firmly, arms folded.

"Well, rules were made to be broken"

"You sound just like your Father, Stark" Luke chimed.

"Yeah, well, my Dad is the one who risked his life to save the world more than once."

"Why are you behaving this way? I know you're worried about Cas-"

"Cas?? This has nothing to do with Cas. She's fine. We got rotten eggs hurled at us and we COULDN'T REACT LIKE EVERY OTHER TEENAGER! We can't join curricula's or sports or date or hang out or just sit with our friends at a goddamn lunch table like anyone else!"

"You're overacting now, Stark" Rogers spoke firmly.

"I don't need you ordering me around, Mini Cap" Morgan snapped, turning and walking into the school. Rogers sighed softly in defeat, hitching the backpack over her shoulder and stalking into the school after her.

Luke exchanges glances with Kara. "That was eventful" Luke murmured sarcastically.

"I never realised what a peacekeeper Cas was until now."

Lunch rolled around, Morgan prodded at her food wordlessly, nauseas but unspoken since her morning scene.

No one attempted to speak to her, until Brittany sat down at her table, a few metres beside them.

"How's the day going, eggheads?" She taunted, flicking long blonde hair out of her eyes with expensive acrylic nails.

"You know what Brittany you low life-"

"Stark!" Rogers interrupted sharply. "That's enough."

Morgan picks up her backpack and exits the cafeteria hastily, infuriated. Kara rises to her feet.

"I'll go get her-"

"No, she needs space" Luke reminded, biting into a cold standard school serving of 'pie.'

Mr Jackson waltzes up to the table. "Good afternoon" He greets.

"Hey Mr J" Luke nods, sipping his juice.

"Is Morgan alright?" He pursues, eyes raising from his smartwatch.

"Just having a bad day is all, sir" Rachel forced a smile.

"Right," he spoke, unconvinced. "How about Casiel?"

"Unwell" Kara recovered smoothly, not meeting the teachers eyes purposefully. He frowned, wrote something on his hand and walked away.

"He didn't believe that" Luke murmured sharply.

The final periods of the day, the group barely spoke. Rogers was anxious about the teachers disbelief, Luke was tired, Kara was frustrated and Morgan was fiery.

The walk home was filled with polite conversation before Rogers stopped the group.

"Guys, what are we doing? We're a team, we can't be like this. We need communication, my father told me-"

"You aren't your Father" Morgan growled firmly, eyes glaring into Rachel's, who maintained her confidence.

Morgan walked into the building and took one elevator to the penthouse, walking in and all but slamming the door closed, rattling the door frame.

Rachel lay on the couch, staring at the ceiling, contemplating.

Kara sat at the kitchen table solemnly, playing with a small eat designed from her magic.

Luke wrapped his hands to go box in the gym on level 2.

Morgan folded her arms bitterly, looking up at the ceiling.

'Some team we are.'
