Return

Peter Parker was immensely grateful, waking from his restful sleep on the couch, covered with a warm blanket, to find Casiel had finished his assignment and fell asleep peacefully leaning on the table. Peter, before heading off, made pancakes and served them with a mocha, waking her up to present his surprise.

"Good morning Cas" Peter giggled, nudging the pancakes towards her. Chaos glared suspiciously, scanning the food, confirming it wasn't poisoned.

"Mornin' Mornin'" Casiel rubbed her eyes and stretched her back. "Thank you for breakfast."

"Thank you, too...I know whatcha did" Peter smiled softly, nibbling on his pancake. "Oh shoot! I'm almost late!" He exclaimed suddenly, spying his watch. "Bye Cas!" He laughed as he ran frantically to the elevator.

"Goodbye Parker!" She called as the doors closed, sipping her mocha as she turned on her chair to face the large glass window, the fog thinner than prior. "Chaos, can you please fetch me the butter?"

Metal wings outstretched and flew to the kitchen bench, where the butter set in a yellow and red container. His metal claws grasp the edges and lift it upward, placing it carefully on the table.

"Thank you, buddy" She smiles triumphantly, more proud he was able to perform the task without mistake at such an early stage of design. He beeped happily in response.

The Avengers Family make their way in and out from time to time, talking with Cas before going about their days.

Eventually, the doors opened and her Father shuffled in, wrapped in his blue oversized jumper, hair disheveled, eyes bloodshot and dark bags under his eyes. "Want some pancakes?" She offered, nudging the plate towards him, sipping from her mocha, which had still not been finished. He sat quietly, watching her, almost cautiously. "You gotta eat sometime" She laughed, nudging it closer to him.

"T-Thank you" He whispered in hush tones.

"What's wrong" She frowned, stern. Her memory of the previous night was foggy.

"We need t-to talk about-"

"No, we don't. Forget about it" She spoke calmly. His eyes downcast. "I'm fine. Just fine."

"Please Cas-"

"I gotta get to school."

"You're going today? Baby I don't think you're ready-"

"I've missed too many days not too" She spoke as she rose to her feet, side hugging him as she made her way to the elevator. Chaos makes the door by millimetres, leaving Bruce alone on floor 43 with his thoughts.

"Chaos, flip the shields, quick" Casiel murmured, as she began strolling into the school grounds, ignoring glances at her face, fading bluish bruise beside her right eye. Chaos had turned the metal panels around to form full coverage micro mirrors, giving the illusion of invisibility, and had hopped into Casiel's open zip, causing her bag to sag downward noticeably.

'No one will notice' she spoke and prayed. She inserted the earpiece into her ear and waltzed into her class, greeted excitedly by Kara and Rachel, her first period Physics buddies. They engulfed her in a hug the second she was within range, all of them laughing softly,

"Welcome back Cas,"

"It's good to be back" She smiles softly, placing her books down. Morgan moves the bag off Casiel's chair only for her arm to drop heavily, the weight of the bag exponentially heavier than expected. Casiel quickly grabbed it off of her and placed it gently on the ground, widening her eyes at Morgan as if to say 'something that's not meant to be here is here.'

Morgan understood, turning her head to the front just as Mr Jackson walked in for tutor.

"Cas, welcome back" He greeted as other students piled in from the hallway. "Feeling better?"

"Much better, thank you sir" She smiled softly, nodding and putting a thumb up in his direction. He grins warmly before turning his attention back to his laptop, displaying the expected work for the students.

Each class seemed to soar, Casiel's mind elsewhere, thinking about improvements that can be made to Chaos. She was zoned out when Luke suddenly murmured "the b!tch is coming."

The group turned their heads to glare at Brittany.

"Welcome back, slag! Where ya been? A mental hospital?" She spat at Casiel, who calmly responded with a simple side glance, ignoring the irritating mortal. Brittany, infuriated, unscrews her orange juice and pours it over Casiel's head. Casiel's patience unwavering, she doesn't react.

Kara however has a different idea.

"Apologise!" Kara snapped, standing up sharply, causing heads around her to turn.

"Kara it's alright" Casiel whispered softly.

"It's not!! You've been through enough and this satanic slu-"

"Kara" Casiel spoke firmly, "its okay."

"Listen to your master" Brittany mocked. At that, a micro switch seemed to flip in Casiel's mind and the reading glasses on Brittany's face cracked suddenly, from centre to frame, causing her to throw them off while screeching. Every other student laughed, Casiel remained stone faced however, staring at Brittany. Brittany became anxious with Casiel's gaze. "Freak show" She spat, turning around sharply to face her loyal followers, pushing them aside roughly as she forces herself past. One, Rosie, trips over her own ankle, falling heavily to the concrete. Brittany laughs outwardly, exclaiming "how stupid can you be!"

Casiel holds out her hand, allowing Rosie to take it and stand up, dusting herself off before looking straight into Casiel's eyes. "Thanks, Cas" she whispered as Brittany began summoning her. Casiel half smiled and nodded softly, before frowning as Rosie was quite literally dragged away.

"She's gotta stop letting that mutt push her around."

"Cas, we get pushed around by the same mutt" Morgan grumbled softly, sipping her juice.

"We have the capacity to stop it-"

"But we cant, Cas. Back to square one" Rachel frowned sternly.

"You know, I don't normally call people who are younger than me 'hard-asses' but damn" Casiel suddenly laughed, playfully teasing Rachel.

"Oh shove it Cas"

"Language!" Stark interjected, laughing. The group chuckled collectively, collecting their things to head off to the final classes of the day.

Finishing up with woodwork, Kara and Casiel both walked ahead as the exited the grounds soon joined by Rachel, Morgan and Luke, walking as a group back to the tower. W was telling them all about the design process of Chaos, who now flew head of them in broad daylight, while Morgan suggested enhancements that even Casiel hadn't thought of.

Everyone called 'see you at dinner' as they all went seperate ways to their apartments, while Morgan and Casiel both headed to the labs.
