Allegience
Casiel was startled suddenly at the flashing red lights and siren, an automated voice repeating 'evacuate now.'
Casiel rose quickly, rushing to the door, slamming her shoulder into it. It swung open with ease, as if someone had unlocked it and dashed. The hallways flashed dark red, causing Casiel to stumble with discombobulated movements. A familiar voice booms through the ceiling;
"Emergency in hospital wing! Evacuate now!"
Casiel starts toward the exit, but stops cold.
"Your Father is still in the building, he's getting treated for...some unfortunate injuries, he will be alright."
Vision had spoken those words just days before. She swings on her heel, glances at the map on the wall and races towards the hospital wing.
"Where the hell is she going?" General Ross growled.
"She's going to save her Father" Tony breathed calmly. Bruce, from within the same room, snaps his head up to watch the cameras, holding his neck gently.
Casiel, hearing voices up ahead ducks into a nearby room, staring around quickly for a hiding spot.
Her eyes locked on a cluster of full body black jumpsuits and a group of face masks on the table.
"It's not my armour, but it's something" She whispered to herself. The hurried footsteps of guards ran down the hallway and Casiel quickly placed the jumpsuit on and the mask over her face, styling her hair into a bun to make her seem more like the 'professional' female guards.
She waltzes out confidently when white smoke started to poor out into the hallway. The people ran away from the flames whereas Casiel ran towards them, narrowly escaping a burn from the heat of the smoke alone as she made a break for the hospital wing. She passes a room and hears a scream, the Guardian angel in her swinging around to find the source.
A male guard, not much older than 19, has injured his knee mere rooms away from the flames. "Stay calm" Casiel spoke, pressing 2 fingers against his right knee. The kneecap readjusted and the pain disappeared, Casiel fell back as her strength drained immensely. The bracelets had withheld so much power the healing was too much. He stared at her with wide eyes. "You gotta go! Run!!"
He charged out of the room and Casual runs the opposite way into the hospital wing, grabbing a piece of heavy fabric, wetting it with water in the tap near the door and holding it over her face mask. "Bruce! Bruce Banner! DAD!" She cried out. The roaring flames screamed at her from outside the door and for once, she was petrified. With the bracelets engravings, she was basically human, she'd accepted death by remaining in the building.
"This is awful" Scott shook his head.
"We needed to prove her allegiance-"
"Yeah well you have, so can you put the flames out and let us in?" Carol snapped harshly, ready to handle this herself.
"You don't want to see what happens?" General Ross laughs, sadistic.
"You're sick. You've taken away my baby sisters power and then thrown her into a deadly scenario" Balthazar's eyes began to shine as his rage spiked.
"I c-can't do this t-to her" Bruce suddenly cried, opening the door and rushing towards the hospital wing. Tony followed suit, Carol shorted out the system and the lights stopped, flames extinguishing.
Bruce swung that door open to find Casiel, sitting calmly in the centre of the room. "It was a trick" She murmured, eyes closed.
"Angel?!" He couldn't help but smile. Her eyes flew open.
"DAD!!" She cried, jumping up and into his open arms. Her eyes trailed to the severe bruising on his neck, horrified.
"Hi baby" he whispered, eyes welling up as he refused to let her go. She hid her face in the shoulder of his oversized jumper, barely keeping it together, exhausted, her power drained for the first time in centuries.
"I-I thought-"
"Save your breath love, it's alright" He reassured her, rocking her gently.
"D-Did I do-" She gestured to the bruising.
"It's alright sweetheart, I forgive you. Think nothing more of it."
"D-Dad-"
"General Ross wishes to speak to you, Doctor Banner."
///
Casiel rested on the leather couch, woolly blanket laying over her with her hand holding the bridge of her nose as Morgan, Rachel, Kara and Luke sat on the floor beside her, playing Uno.
Reuniting the team.
Agent Everett Ross had been called by Tony as a last resort, because heroes can only do so much in situations such as General Ross' arrogance, they needed the jurisdiction of a higher authority.
Can't fight their way out this time.
"I have good news and bad news" Everett spoke softly to Tony, Bruce standing quietly beside him. "She can be let out of detainment, but she has to keep the bracelets on"
"Full time?" Tony sighed, defeated.
"Yes, I know that-"
"We can't do that! It'll make her virtually human" Carol interrupted, "suppressing her power is a dangerous game."
"I know but for now it's the best we can do until the dust settles" Everett sighs, rubbing his temple subtly, exhausted.
"Something is better than nothing. Thank you, Agent Ross. You should get some rest" Casiel's voice came suddenly, startling her friends who sat in front of her, who hadn't heard her sit up.
"But Cas-"
"I'll simply become more human" She murmured, eyeing Kara carefully, spying her cautious stare. "It can't be too difficult."
Morgan outwardly cackled. "Cas, it's very difficult being a human, surprisingly. You're not born to be a human"
"No, you're right. But it doesn't sound like I have much of a choice."
