Adaption
School was so antagonistic.
Hours of lesson, teachers speaking directly to students things they will not remember unless absolutely necessary.
Brittany and her loyal followers, despite the 5's efforts to deter them, continued to bully students.
Mr Jackson drawled on about his theories of the evolution of humanity, Casiel would laugh to herself, she had seen the evolution.
"This is particularly interesting for you, is it Miss Banner?" Mr Jackson questioned her as she walked slowly behind bustling students, eager to return home.
"Yes sir, the evolution of humanity is intriguing. Such a strange species to watch as they grew." Mr Jackson smiles easy, laughing.
"You speak about it like you were there" He laughed softly, turning and erasing the whiteboard behind him. Casiel's smile twitched softly, habitual when she suspected a mortal knew, against any reasonable possibility.
"That would be an unbelievable feat, as much as I'd love to see it."
"Indeed it would" He chuckled, smiling up at her once more. "Have a lovely weekend, Cas"
"You too, sir" She smiles softly, closing the door behind her, gently. She turns before staggering, unsteady on her feet, sudden surges of dizziness.
Her humanity reacting to a disturbance. Morgan rushes to her side.
"Cas? Hey, what's wrong Cas? Talk to me" Morgan pursues, holding Casiel's shoulders firmly.
"There's something wrong" she stammered, eyes rushing around the room, desiring a visual representation. "Dad!"
Casiel charges from the building, springing to the line of trees, absentmindedly acknowledging her worried friends.
She would contact them later.
She jumps behind the large oak wood tree stump, teleporting to her back yard and rushing in through the unlocked neck door. "Dad?!"
She could hear nothing but silence, until the rough, panicked breathing could be heard from his room. She appeared in his room beside him.
The first thing she noticed was the laceration on his palm, caused by broken glass. He was sweating and severely trembling, eyes that were hidden behind glasses, teary and unfocused. Wordlessly, he desperately gulps oxygen into his throat, hyperventilating, hand grasping Casiel's forearm.
"Dad, breathe, you're alright. Dad?" She coaches, grasping his uninjured hand tightly, which pulsed with green and red blood.
'Last time she just healed him, he didn't fully heal until weeks later.'
She spoke calm, reminding him he was safe. His breathing slowed and he collapsed into Casiel's arms, exhaustion overcoming him. He breathed heavily as he rested in his daughter's embrace, she continued to reassure him that he was alright and everything was going to be alright.
While he rested against her, chocolate brown eyes closed tiredly, she began gently wrapping his laceration with a clean white bandage, she had thought of it and there it was, in her lap. The ambience of her Father's phone ringing, he twitches.
'Stark 🤪' is calling
"Hey Mr Stark" I spoke into the phone, his hologram appearing.
"Hey sweetie, how are you- Banner?!"
"He's alright, just-" Casiel was at a loss, what is a human response which invoked calmness-
"I'm coming over" He murmured suddenly. "Can you give me a push Cas?"
She rested back gently on her heels, murmuring under her breath, before clicking her fingers, Tony Stark appearing in the centre of the room. He swayed, causing her to steady him with her arm. "You may feel slight nausea."
"I noticed" He places his hand on his torso, "but thank you hun." Her Father had barely stirred, exhausted. Tony knelt beside him, continuing to wrap his hand that Casiel had begun wrapping. "What happened?"
"I haven't had much time to ask" Casiel whispered softly, wrapping a softly wool blanket around her Father's shoulders. He grasped it and buried his head to her shoulder, earning a worried glance from Tony.
"Maybe we should get him to a doctor or some-"
"We can't, he'll become stressed in an environment like that." She uses the angelic strength to pick him up, causing him to groan in pain, and place him under the covers of his bed. He refused to let go of her shirt, causing her to take off her jacket and rest alongside him, allowing him to rest back on her shoulder, despite the comfort of the plush pillows just centimetres away.
He needed his family close.
"How about you bring him to the tower?" Tony suggested, sitting on the edge of the bed. "We can't leave him like this."
"H-He...t-the o-o-other guy..." Bruce trembled violently. Casiel places her fingers on his forehead, closing her eyes.
A man enters the house, crowbar in hand. Bruce staggers our tiredly, coffee in hand. The man screams at him to get on the floor, Bruce drops to his knees, dropping the delicate glass cup and cutting his hand. The man continues to scream at him, causing him to have a severe anxiety attack.
The man ran when he saw visibly green blood pumping through Bruce's veins.
The Hulk shreds through the Helecarrier, temper raging, strength unchallenged.
5 dead.
The Hulk shreds through Sokovia, mind invaded by the witch.
20 dead. Probably more.
Natasha.
He halted a violent transformation just before it hit, hence his exhaustion.
When Casiel came back to reality with a gasp, overwhelmed by the onslaught of pain her Father felt, he was sobbing very softly into her shoulder.
'My power had brought all that pain back. Dammit, Cas!'
"Dad?" She whispered softly, holding him in a tight hug, shielding him from the world. His severe trembling begun again, causing Tony to stand.
"I'm getting a doctor"
"Mr Stark-"
"Cas, if he sinks into shock or an anxiety attack, we won't be able to control him."
"C-c-con-control m-me?" The shaky breath came, head turning to Tony.
"Dad, stay calm. He didn't mean anything by that." He attempted to rebut, but instead rested his head back down.
"Bring him to the towers, he'll be safer-" Stark receives a glare from Casiel "-safer to himself, you know how anxiety attacks are. So critical towards me, Miss Banner."
Casiel nodded in understanding, sending Tony back to the tower wordlessly. She stood up, leaving her Father resting on the bed, and calmly packed a few items of his clothing. He watched her quietly, eyes drooping.
"I-I d-don't w-want to-"
"Dad, this is for your health."
"I-I'm a m-monster"
"Don't ever say that again" Casiel snapped sharply, causing her Father to cringe at the harsh tone. "You are not a monster. Trust me, I've seen monsters, real monsters."
Bruce, extremely tense during conflict, immediately nods his head, gentle.
"Dad, I love you, I'm doing this to keep you safe." She finished packing his things and waltzed to the side of his bed, grabbing his shoulder. Soon they were in Bruce's allocated room in the tower, the one he stayed at when he needed to remain for long term projects with Stark.
Bruce swayed wearily, leaning on his daughter heavily. She lay him down to rest on his temporary bed and exited the room to find Morgan.
