20. PATRON?
You opened your eyes feeling light headed that time. Your mind was compelling your eyes to shut tight and sleep more. But the shining rays of the brilliant twin suns made it hard to sleep, so you squinted your eyes as you opened them. Something's strange. Oh yes. You slept peacefully. How?
Last night's events came rushing through you. Still not sure how you ended up in your bed room. Your body seemed to need more rest, so you pulled your sheet higher to cover your eyes. Some rustle bustle. Something moving somewhere made you alert. Your body jerked up on its own, first instinct to grab your sword near the bed. But your racing heart calmed down seeing a lovely pair of eyes looking at you with a humble smile.
His cheeks where lightly flushed red. His hair uncombed as it seemed like he just woke up. His unsteady breath showed that he must have come running here. Why? Ah. Must be morning Jog.
You sat properly, your eyes still adjusting to the brightness. Your hands stumbled as you pulled yourself up. Heart skipping a beat at the new pair of arms supporting you to have your balance. His hands guided your shoulders, gently, helping you to sit up. Something new. Something new was present in those chocolate orbs. What is it? What is there which wasn't there before in those swirling deep pools?
You can't figure out. But you can figure out the new warmth spreading across your cheeks. Finally gathering the courage to speak up, you said.
"What are you doing here?" Your voice came out hoarser than you expected. His lavender smell hitting your nose from that distance.
He seemed to be hesitating to answer.
"Just passing by, and checked on you." He pulled the stool near your bed, it creating unnecessarily more noise than expected. His hands passed through his hair, making the wet uneven pink strands even. You just hummed in response. Not knowing what to say after. To be honest, you didn't feel like talking at all. To that arrogant Prince who wanted a girl to protect him.
"You..." He trailed of, his brown orbs looking at you carefully. His honey voice as gentle as the bedsheets of the palace rooms that you just want to wrap yourself in and sleep for hours. "You are mad at me. Aren't you?" He asked as if knowing your thoughts. You just turned the other way. His presence stirring something within you.
"If you excuse me your highness. I have personal duties to be done." You said with a roll of your eyes as you pulled the bedsheets away, wanting to be anywhere but this man.
Your feet felt like you have walked for hundred miles. Your bare foot pressed against the plush carpet beneath as you attempted to stand up. Attempted.
But soon your legs gave up on you. Refusing to follow the order of your minds as it wobbled and caused you to loose balance. You cursed under you breath, to plant you face first on the floor. But a hand caught your... face?
You pushed his hand away, anger somehow reaching your peek. "I'm not a Potomato to hold my face like that! Act like a Prince for once." You screamed. You don't know what made you the extent of screaming at him. The Prince's dark irises hardened on your sudden outburst. He moved a step away from you. His eyes now radiating an unexpected amount of coldness. An amount of coldness that you never thought would be present in those warm comforting eyes.
"I think you are forgetting something Miss Luane." His head tilted to the side as his voice deepened an octave. "I think you have forgotten that I can slash your throat with a flick of my wrist." What happened to the once bubbly boy you knew? His dark irises were sending shivers down your spine.
"F-fogive me." You said as you bowed your head a little. Feeling his actions strange.
"I have been given the honor to ask you for the royal meeting. It is about something important from what the Queen said." His dark eyes stared straight at your confused ones.
"Jimin-"
"You want me to act like a Prince?" He moved closer to you. At a dangerously slow pace. Like how a predator does for its prey. "I'll accept your deal. Come to the throne room." With that said, he walked away. But soon, his footsteps stopped.
He stopped moving away for which, your sword's tip was near his neck. Dangerously close. Yet not to hurt.
"Show yourself." You said for which the Prince just chuckled darkly.
"What are you talking about Luane?" He glanced at you, still not turning back. His chuckle sending a shiver down your spine. That same creepy aura surrounded you like it does in your dreams.
"You... Are not Prince Jimin. And I know that for sure. Who are you?" Your sharp blade's tip was touching his neck's side. Slightest pressure can cut through his skin. But you didn't want it to happen.
"Tsk Tsk Tsk." The said Prince turned around, a sly smile on his face. "You are a clever child."
Child?
He moved your sword away with his hand, a humble smile on his face. "You didn't miss your grandpa?" Jimin said, his lips a little pouty. Grandpa?
Confusion. If you can't find a meaning for that in dictionary, then you can put the name Luane in it. As for, you were confused beyond your wits in what nonsense the young man before you is blabbering about.
"Aww, don't be too confused my child." He swirled around, the same black hood covering his princely white clothes, as Jimin's slim body looked bulked up?
A gasp escaped your lips as your eyes widened. Looking at the man... No, grandpa before you. "Noah." You whispered. Surprised that he could come in day time even when he said that he can't.
He pulled his hood down. His pale pink hair and wrinkled filled face looked at you with a humble smile. "But... am I still asleep? How you came in Jimin, I mean are you Jimin? Or what happened to the real one? What are you doing in day time and how did you-"
"Oh my goodness Luane." The said old man stifled a gasp. "It's not good for a young woman to worry this much." He let out a chuckle at your befuddled state.
"This is Jimin's body which I am... Ummm, borrowing?" He said, the word borrowing came out in a sheepish way made you realise what he had done.
"You stole his body?!" You shouted. An angry bubble building up in you as you were genuinely cared for the said boy.
"I... wanted to check on you dear." He mumbled. Even though his voice was low, it was somehow filled with guilt.
"I'm sorry that I could not do anything about yesterday. As I was completely powerless, I couldn't help you out of that..." He trailed off. Your eyes softened at this as he seemed worried about you genuinely and he seemed guilty too.
"I'm fine Noah." You smiled. The warmth in his eyes reminding you how it would be if you have had a real Grandparents. How it would feel to sit in their laps and listen endless rants of their pasts.
"I'm completely alright. Don't worry about me." The old man's face relaxed at this. His guilt slowly disappearing at your words. But your curiosity didn't.
"Oh and about how I came in Jimin, he was weak." The old man giggled. You on the other hand clearly not understanding the grandpa.
"I can take over one's body when their soul is extremely weak. So it takes less energy for me to take over them." He smiled at you in a knowing way, causing you to be confused again.
"Since when you came over him?"
"The moment he caught your face like a Potomato and you shouted him to act like a Prince." He replied reading your thoughts already, he said "I know it is wrong, but I can't help. I wanted to know whether you are okay. And now I know that, I'll give his body back to his own." You shook your head at Noah.
"Don't worry. I will not do this again." With one last wink at you, his black cloak disappeared, bringing back the charming prince in front of you. Wait. Charming?
Because he was. In that plain white shirt which covered his hands fully, frilled in the right places and with a perfectly contradicting black pants, he did look like a Prince charming.
"I'm sorry Luane. Mom asked you to-"
"To come to the throne room for an important discussion? I understand." You chuckled at his confused state. "You may go now Prince Jimin. I'll be there soon." You smiled, your hands on his shoulders guiding him out of the room as you shut the door on his face.
What is wrong with this girl? One time she is angry and the other she is laughing? Am I weird or she is weird?
"Taehyung is weird." He heard someone reply. He turned around only to see the Lyren standing there. "Greetings your highness." He bowed down as soon as Jimin's eyes came in contact with Jungwon's.
"I think we have discussed about the formalities Jungwon." He shook his head at the younger one. Walking the other direction.
"I can't help it Jim. It is my responsibility to bow down to a royal. And I can't just shrug it off." The younger one blabbered. Compared to Jimin, Jungwon looked short.
"How old are you may I ask?" He mumbled, his face observing the younger's. "Don't tease me for my age. I'm 17." He said with a shy smile. Seems like age doesn't matter if you have the talent.
"It never matters Jimin. The place you are in or the size you are in doesn't matter. All you need is the will to do the thing." His soft blue eyes started Jimin with a small smile. Jimin can't help but be amused at the his wise words.
"I know right. I'm quite wise with my words."
Yes. The place doesn't matter, if I have the will to do it. That's it!
"You'll be a great leader in the future." With that said, the prextran walked away leaving the Lyren confused at what he is implementing despite him reading the latter's mind.

To say that you are nervous to meet the Queen would be an understatement. But as far as what you have heard from the maid that came inside so unexpectedly to take care off you, she is not that scary. Few maids scurried behind her, dressing you up presentable for the Queen. Making you wear a beautiful gown that you only thought Princesses would wear.
And this is the first time you are wearing the soft silky peach colored dress. But much to your dismay, the maids didn't even give the time to see the mirror.
Four days back. Who would have thought? That a normal maiden of nowhere could be standing in front of the palace room, wearing the clothes made with care for royals and doing a courtesy in front of the famous ruler of Arcturus who the people learnt to cherish and love with their whole heart?
But life give the unexpected turns at the unexpected times.
Just like now, your legs shaking beneath the heavy comfy gown. Thank goodness that you are not wearing pants. If so, the shaking of your legs would clearly be visible. Shh. Calm down Luane. The Queen don't eat Arcturans.
"I humbly thank you for accepting my offer Luane." The Queen's soft eyes and humble smile made you at ease. "I wanted to discuss some matters, which specifically needed your presence." She said, her voice booming and alerting the few in the room in the throne room. From where you stand, you could see three royals standing beside the Queen.
Wow. What a sight it is. The royal's family completely present in one single place. You were sincerely warmed by seeing them together as a family. Something you didn't get a chance for. This reminded you of how things were when you were younger. How Queen Inez's father ruled and how their family looked complete with the elder Prince and the younger princess. You are still not sure what caused the younger to take over the throne than the eldest. And what caused the eldest to hide and dwell in deep darks.
You could see the General standing tall and proud, a little away from the royal family. His spotless face unreadable. But still, he looked like an ethereal creature in a dark violet coat which went well with his grape hair and purple eyes. He was standing towards the left, his sword in his loop clearly making everyone know that he is the General, who guides every soldier in the kingdom to be a symbol of bravery.
Towards the right of the Queen, you could see the same Sebran standing there. The one who likes to scare you and smile at your fears. The one who vowed to wipe your smile off your face. From where you stood, they where the only people who you could see.
You are sure the Lyren and another Sebran, both having beautiful dimples are standing somewhere near.
"I really ask for your forgiveness in what happened in the past days Luane." The Queen's voice brought you back to reality. Making your brown orbs to come in contact with her admirable pink ones.
It felt like someone sealed your lips shut with superglue. Your mind messing up in forming the right words to say in front of the royal. Usually, your two friends being near you boots your confidence. But without them near you, you felt lost.
Where are you idiots?
You mumbled to yourself. Really wanting to reply something to the Queen.
"I'm alright your highness. There is nothing to fret about." You said with a small smile and all the courage that you can muster up. You could see Ji Ah giving you a thumbs up beside her Mom, causing you to stifle a laugh.
"How polite of you young miss. But I'm afraid that we have to wait for some mor-"
The creaking of opening of the majestic throne room's door, ceased the Queen's speech. Her smile widening upon the contact of the person entered inside. Or should I say persons?
You turned your head around, the Queen's expression making you curious. But, you felt like your jaw dropping when you turned around. Why?
Because they were those same protectors. The same people who you grew up with.
But, in all truth, you have never seen them in the royal clothes. Taehyung's Navy blue shirt and Jungkook's dark maroon shirt contradicting their hair colours made them look like... certainly not the people you grew up with.
Jungkook can't help but have a sly smirk on his face as he saw your expression. But, that's the same case there too. He did a expression with his hand which definitely meant for you to close your mouth which was hanging open. You looked away flustered, feeling relieved that everyone's attention was on them, not on you checking out your own...
"Greetings your highnesses." They said in unison. Somehow, their voices together made a sweet melody so satisfying to the ears.
"Welcome Protectors." The Queen beamed, taking her seat as she gestured everyone to do the same.
Ah. Now you could see, and according to you, your calculations were correct. There were ten people including you, which made you wonder where the other two, Hoseok and Yoongi are.
"The protectors may proceed first."
Knowingly or unknowingly, your eyes met Jimin's. But he didn't look at you as he stared forward. At nothing. Like he is not interested in sitting on that royal chair which specifically was designed for a Prince. Sighing your eyes roamed as they landed on a smirking Sebran, who already was looking at you, with his head tilted to the side. His silver fringes so long that they almost touched his eyes. Even though, you could see those sharp eyes clearly, making an unknown feeling of warmth spreading on your cheeks.
You turned your attention to Taehyung as he proceeded to say something.
"The work we have gone for has turned successful. We have found the place for the quest." He said as he bowed politely. His deep voice echoing in that soundless room, as everyone where attentively listening what the Neel is saying.
"The clues we have been seeking answers for, have been solved your highness."
"Atleast, we could tell more than half has been figured out." Jungkook stepped in, his voice as gentle as the windy breeze of spring.
"Well that is a good news I have been expecting from you two." The Queen said. A satisfactory smile present in her beautiful face.
"General. You have something to say?" Inez directed her question to the Urgen sitting towards her left. But, he remained unfazed. His eyes staring at nothing in particular.
Is he zoning out too?
Jungwon heard someone think. That must be Ji Ah. He thought.
The Queen cleared her throat again. Not letting her smile falter, she called out from him again.
"Genral? General Seokjin?" But, Inez's efforts somehow ended in vain, making her panic about the General.
His purple eyes were staring below continuously. Despite the Queen calling him multiple times. As if someone hit him on the head, the General groaned with an annoyed look. Everyone didn't miss the silver dust at the corner of his head.
All the colorful eyes turned to the dimpled silver haired male, who in turn shook his head fast as if it is not him who did it. Their eyes expectantly turned to the other Sebran in the room.
Luminous lowered his hand, the lingering silver mist evident between his right hand.
"What? You want the General to be zoned out through the session?" He snapped back at everyone staring at him. Not even bothering about the royals among them.
Wow. How polite. Was your thought with a roll of your eyes.
But nonetheless, Luminous earned a grateful nod from Jin.
Jin can't take his mind off of that thing. That stupid thing he did yesterday. From the moment he entered the room, he tried so hard to not look at her. So badly, yet, he stole some glances when the protectors where speaking. He wanted to do nothing but choke on his saliva and die so that he wouldn't have to face the aftermath of that stupid thing he did yesterday. So much for being a General. He thought to himself, but of course, he earned a worried look from the Lyren.
"I apologise for my actions your highness." He bowed his head down once he came to know what situation he was in. The Queen just gave a weak smile in return.
"Its alright Jin. I know how hard your duties and responsibilities are... And how hard I'm making this for everyone." She sighed. Mr.Park can't help but want to reach out for his wife, to hug her, to comfort her that this is none of her fault. But he knew what the better thing to do.
At Inez's statement, everyone felt wordless. As if there was no word in any world to say to her. Being a Queen must be tiring. But, she is being a Queen and protecting the people. You can't hide the smile that took over your face.
"Things...may be hard for everyone. But still, what is life without going through hardships? None of this was your fault your highness. It's none of our fault." You didn't know where these words were kept in. From where these confidence came from. But still, you spoke what your heart told you to. Maybe it was Namjoon's brain that you got that moment. Maybe it is your two boys who sat near you to support you that boosted your confidence. It maybe the Prince who was staring at you with a small smile that made you speak these. Or... Maybe, just maybe... It might be your savior from last night...(who the maids can't stop gushing about) who was staring at you from the moment you entered.
"And we still have chance. I still don't know how I have to help everyone in this. But I will do everything I can. For Arcturus." Your voice was so gentle as if you were talking to a child who is about to cry with quivering lips. For Arcturus. For my world. Where the hell this Luane was hiding all these days? And by how this part of Luane was provoked? You didn't know yourself.
Your eyes involuntarily caught his subtle stare. His eyes darting to the Queen as soon as he noticed you looking at him.
"For Arcturus." The Queen mumbled under her breath. So careful that if said wrong, the whole world would shatter. This replaced the Queen's smile and also earned a nod of gratitude from her husband.
"I'm afraid that we don't have much time My Queen." Seokjin said. His voice so low that if not concentrated, we would have missed what he said.
"You are being vague General." Inez sighed. A piercing pain forming newly in her temples.
"I think there is an increase in the number of Cronuses. No. There is. The borders have been attacked. I think King Marcus... is rising to power..."
Silence.
Mere silence.
None of the soul dared to speak upon hearing the name. That name from the General's mouth. Except one...
"And a Synex was found inside the Palace. The increase in Dark creatures, could only mean that he is being faster than us in every movement." Namjoon interfered. Upon seeing the expecting eyes waiting for his clear explanation he said the most grave thing they didn't expect to hear.
"If my calculations are correct... there would be an invasion in three months."
Everyone failed to stifle a gasp. When I said everyone, I meant everyone. Even the own son of Marcus sitting among the crowd mingling with them like a black sheep in the herd of white, can't hide his surprise. He can't deny the fact that Namjoon is no joke when it comes to these types of matters. And therefore, he know that he must be careful. Not only around him, but also with everyone.
"Even if it is in three months, we can still try. There is chance for us succeeding." Said a comforting voice wanting to comfort the scared souls in the room. Ji Ah.
"All these time, we were searching for that human. But now, we already have the human. We have Luane. So, things must be easier Mom." It was Loeva who said it. Mustering the most comforting voice she could.
Luane. We have Luane. One simple sentence. But the ray of hope shined in everyone's face at the mention of your name, that was too much. Too much that it scared you. What if I couldn't do what they want? What if I couldn't save everyone? What if I...
Always, fear is a person's greatest enemy. And in your case, that fear made a contract with your mind, always shaking hands with each other. And thus, if you get scared, these scary thoughts occupy your mind and don't let any other thoughts to go on.
"That's true." Her Mom uttered. Her beautiful pink irises staring straight at you with a smile that made your heart melt. "We have Luane. So things must be easier. I called you here to honor you Luane." The Queen rose up from her seat. Her huge golden rose silky dress barely touching the floor in pure elegance.
"To honor you as the Patron of Arcturus." Her voice boomed in the silent throne room, proud smiles on most of the people's faces. Except four.
Jimin. In utter confusion of what that means.
Luminous. Gritting his teeth as his father is underestimated his aunt.
You. Shocked at the newly given title which you so surely feels as you don't deserve.
And... Jungwon. Who read the thoughts...
"Patron of Arcturus. The only title which fits a person who is going to save our whole kingdom. Whole planet. And thus, I bestow you as the Patron, of Arcturus." Your feet automatically made you stand up as you did the most elegant courtesy you could do, accepting the title with a heavy doubt in your heart. From the corner of your eyes, you could see all the men and women in the room showing respect as they stood up and bowed. Except him.
He didn't bow down. Instead he pulled something shiny out of his left boot? You stood straight to see it shining clearly as his eyes darkened. A... knife?
He threw it hard with all his might. Your breath hitched. As it was coming straight to you. Your eyes widened. Are you going to die by a small knife? Move. Move. For hell's sake Luane. But, no. Your feet stood rooted to the ground as it came closer and closer. You could see your death mere inches away from your face.
And... And...
It missed?
It missed you by an inch, the small knife barely touching your left earring (that the maids spent hours selecting on) making them jiggle and a sound of whoosh was heard. You heaved a relief of breath as soon as the knife went past you. You saw the brink of death missing you. Again.
"Argh!" You heard someone shout in pain. Probably, who his knife pierced on. You turned around, the earrings in your ear jiggling as you turned around to see the victim for the brand new knife of his.
Chaos. It was a chaos.
You saw the four men, the General, Jungwon and the protectors running towards the victim. The beating of your heart still fast as you tried to comprehend what was happening.
Jungkook smacked him with his elbow as he fell down with a grunt. And a thud. That's when you saw. A crossbow. And the tip, it was dripping with some... liquid?
"Who the hell are you?" Taehyung's voice was gravely dangerous as he pressed the tip of his magnificent sword in the neck of the man. His shoulder was bleeding. There you saw the same silvery shiny object, which for a moment would have been the end of you.
"He who you fear to see,
Is about to be set free.
Keep an eye in glee
As you watch it flee."
Those were his last words. The man pushed Taehyung's sword onto his neck, piercing and finishing his life by himself.
Taehyung pulled his sword away. No emotions written in his face.
"Jungwon. Get the Queen to her chambers." Jin muttered. The tension in room increasing little by little.
Namjoon bent down as his inquisitive eyes scanned the liquid in the crossbow. His fingers guided along it, the liquid sticking to his finger as he smelled it.
"Botulinum..."
