Chapter Thirteen: Pajama Party!

To appease the ridiculous fae, Rory relented to the shackles. In reality, the ones in her bedroom were far stronger than these week ass steel chains and she prided herself on getting out of them.

Agath glared up at Rory every free moment they got as Servil walked silently beside her like a chided pup. This had been their only chance for somewhere safe from Jamie. It would have been nice if Servil had managed to inform Rory it was also someone's residence. But why would the fucker that shared a death curse with her be smart enough to include important details?

As they went further into the cave, it became far more habitable. It transitioned from all stone and carvings into rather luscious bedrooms for their small size. Next was a kitchen on the left that was twice the size of Rory's. She paused for a moment to take in the tile work and beautiful island in the center. When she got a chance to redo the house, they were expanding the kitchen, hardcore.

Agath cleared her throat. "Are you going to keep following or do you need a leash wolf?"

"Sorry, not into pet play," Rory retorted as she followed after them.

The fae bristled. "Excuse me, not everything is about the bedroom. Who raised you to be so improper? It's like you were raised by wolves."

"Whoa, why would a wolf be raised by wolves, who would've thought?" Rory asked, faking hurt as she put her hand to her chest. "I'm so truly offended, Agath, that you didn't think I was raised by civilized human's or fae."

Sighing, Agath pinched the bridge of her nose. "Why am I giving you a chance? I should have kicked you out."

They came to a stop in a sitting room adorned with a lot of movie posters on the wall's and a big t.v in the center. Several older fae sat in pajama's. They yelped and leap up, donning bath rooms.

"Agath! You should have warned us we were having company," one of the fae scolded, her long ear's twitching. "You know the rules."

This had to be the most informal judgement Rory had ever had. She waved awkwardly, displaying her chains.

One of the fae's brow's shot up, brown on her golden skin. "Agath. . . I know we're getting old, but why did you bring home a wolf in chains? That's a little too far in experimentation."

Rory laughed as horror came across Agath's face and Servil glowed bright with shame. Were most fae this uptight and proper? Geez.

"She's not a prostitute!" Agath protested. "She's a Shadow."

"Then why's she in chains?" The same fae asked, a smirk coming across her face. "That's kinky."

"Not everything is about sex Gia!" Agath cried. "They're for our own protection."

"They won't be able to stop me, but whatever makes you feel better, Agath," Rory said, patting her shoulder.

"I brought her here," Servil declared, stepping forward. "We've been marked for death." He held up his hand and everyone gasped.

"Did the shadow come of her own free will? Or did you kidnap her?" Gia asked, suspiciously. "I know you want to perform the ceremony to save your daughter, but your desperation is showing. We mustn't do things that could crumble the delicate treaty."

Rory stepped forward, coming to the center of the room. "I came willingly, I want to save Jamie. She means everything to me."

The fae stared at her as if she'd spoken out of turn. It was clear they were horrified that a wolf had ordained herself important enough to have a voice. Great. Old fae with their judgements were the best.

"Are you aware of the consequences if this goes wrong?" Another, older fae asked, adjusting her lavender robe. "This is not something for the light-hearted."

Rory placed her hands on the coffee table, accidentally shattering the shackles and causing the wood to crack. "I am willing to do whatever it takes to save the woman I love."

"You'd willingly bleed beneath a knife for a fae?" Servil asked, a weird looking crossing over his face as he regarded Rory with surprise.

Rory looked between him and the others awaiting her answer, her voice unwavering. "I would die for Jamie."

Gia came forward. "Find her and bring her back here Shadow." She placed her hand on Rory's bicep. "Then maybe you can show us why they call you an animal."
