ERIC'S POV

"Its Eric" I answered

There was a pause before I got a reply

"Oh... Come in" Selena said and I turned the door knob as I let myself into her room

"Hey" I greeted

"You are not permitted to greet me casually" Selena voiced.

Argh! She always have to remind me of how much of a coward I was to breakup with her.

I would admit that what I did was messed up.. But it had to be done...

I cleared my voice and said..

"Sorry ma'am, Can I please talk to you?"

it sounds so strange talking to her this way, not less than 2 years ago, She was my girlfriend who loved the sound of my voice and openly admitted how good of a kisser, I was.

She would hug me and say how much she missed me

I miss being at that end of her affection

And her cold shoulders are slowly tearing me apart

It was easier not having her around
At least, all I had to deal with, was her popping in and out of my mind occasionally

Now, she is here and all the chemicals in my brain are acting dysfunctional.. I can't think clearly anymore.

I honestly miss her but I had to breakup with her in a manner where she would hate my guts.

If i had stayed with her, i would be putting her at risk

My Gang, The Infernos were having issues with a rival Gang.

This rival gang is known for gang raping girlfriends of their enemies/rivals.

plus with the new gang's mission to make Shawn Angoteh pay for my brother, Fredrick's death. It was best to let her stay away from me.

I planned to come back for her

But then, the sight of that Murderer, Shawn and Selena totally got me mad crazy and I almost ruined our plans by nearly.. Just nearly letting my emotions control my actions.

He gets to take everything from me, everyone that truly mattered to me and I swear, he would regret the day his hands took away a life.

But first, I can't let this hatred that Lena.. Sorry, Selena has for me to continually grow.. I have to talk to her and tell her the truth but not the entire truth..

Feeling nervous all of a sudden... I lean my back on the wall which eases my nerves as I faced her..

"I know am the last person you want to talk to but please permit me to explain myself"

"You had 2 years to do that, I am sorry but if this is why you are here... Pls leave!" She yelled.

To hell if I would leave here without explaining myself

"I understand why you hate my guts... I would too, if I were you. You know I was in a gang and I did not let you in on what we were into, trust me it was all for your own good. We got into a little brawl with a rival gang and well, our rival gang are pretty known for gang raping their enemies or should I say, rival's girlfriends? And trust me sooner or later they were gonna find out The Infernos Gang Leader's girlfriend was you and I had to break up with you till we dealt with them. This might sound so unreal but I rathered lose you than watch the pain you would go through of getting gang raped, and fighting myself with a plague of guilt on how I could have done something to prevent that event from ever happening."

"Are you still fighting the rival gang?" She asked

"No..."

"Then, why didn't you come back to me when the gang ficaso all ended?" She asked

Oops! I can't tell her about Shawn, it might jeopardize our plans

Lie!

"When it ended... I had to deal with a new lead of who Fredrick's Potential Killer was" I lied

"Whoaw! You found his killer? It wasn't Suicide after all?" She queried, looking all surprised.

"It ended up being a wrong lead" I lied

"Oh... And after that.. You still did not come back to me"

"I did but you were with Jeremy..." Whoops! Thank God, I stalked her social life to know she started dating Jeremy.. Great Escape!
I am inwardly applauding myself

"Oh" she voiced awkwardly, nodding her head in realization

"Yeah.. You seemed to move on pretty fast and I wouldn't lie to say I wasn't hurt. I was so happy to finally get back together with you and hug you, tell you everything... How I missed you, How it was hurting to be apart from you, How walking out of that Cafe broke me with every step I took, How badly I wanted to retrace my step and say to hell with everyone, How watching you from afar was both breathtaking and heartbreaking, the latter because I couldn't be with you again... Then, coming back for you.. And realising you were now with Jeremy totally broke me and I realized I was too late. I was waiting for your breakup news with him but, 5 months into dating Jeremy.. I dunno.. I just had to give thinking of you a break which was impossible but I had to move on. I was shocked to see you and Shawn Together..."

"We aren't together"

"But you bang him!" I almost yelled at the thought..

"And so? How does that have anything to do with you?" She countered"

"Because you were still a virgin when I left you..." I did not finish my statement till Selena cut me Short.

"You expected to meet me, still a virgin?"

"No..Yes ? I don't know anymore okay...? " I said in exasperation

"How come you are working as a guard anyway?" She shot me with a question I did not see coming

Whoaw! How do I deal with this?

Calm down

Think

Panicking won't help

Sighing, I said

"Mum and Dad stopped giving me financial support, stating I was a Grown up Man and should provide for myself. I got angry, I mean, I just Lost  you and the little brawl with the Rival Gang was getting me mad angry at each passing minute, So I hit a Club with the intention of drinking to my heart's full and maybe fuck a girl, since I haven't done that for a while... "

"That's unlike you" She pointed

"Losing you did things to me... Well, I couldn't do any of that as I saw Shawn getting attacked by 4 masked Guys, I was like the odds are against him, why not help the guy and if I get punched to death, I wouldn't mind, I was a walking Zombie either ways. So, I went for it and Shawn wasn't a bad fighter at all, Together we were able to fight off the attackers who cowardly ran for their lives. From there, Shawn and I became close... Not very close because its Shawn and he isn't one to bring people very close to his personal ordeals... Weeks rolled in and I found out Shawn needed new guards,I asked if he would employ me, since my parents won't be assisting me financially anymore apart from school expenses though. He was reluctant at first, but with a little push he accepted and here I am 2 years later... tackling schoolwork and a guard job."

"You are studying?"

"Yeah, taking part time classes, for computer engineering"

"They offer, Computer Engineering at NOUN?"

"Am not studying at NOUN"

"Then where?"

"Unilag."

"Oh"

"Yeah"

There was a few moment of silence which I used to inwardly applaud myself at throwing such a smooth lie.. It wasn't a full blown lie but it wasn't an entire truth either.

The awkward silence was saved by a knock

"Yeah?" Selena answered

"Its Luther." Luther voiced

"Come in" she answered

While the doorknob twisted, I said.

"I should leave now, Ma'am"

"Please call me Selena, we are friends now"

Mission Accomplished!

With a smile tugging my lips, I exited her room and a slight nod to Luther who walked in.

I walked out of her room with a sly smile as I imagined the disformed look of Shawn when I take Selena away from him, then I would wreck his Family's Company, then the part  am more thirsty for...

Beating him to a pulp...

He would call for death

But death would not come

And he would live a life which feels meaningless to him

I would destroy Shawn Angoteh Mahal

And my gang would get her Vengeance on him

Things are falling into places

And I'm looking forward to getting back together with Selena

But this Russo's who are after her...

I have a new assignment for the gang

Figure out how best to stop the Russo's death wish on Selena

This would be hard...
