❝when you told me we were finally on going on an adventure, I expected somewhere a little less- dangerous?❞
JAMES CONRAD WAS NOT ALWAYS THIS WAY. He wasn't always a mercenary, but the war changes people, none more so than him. He was always meant to survive, he had too much relying on him- a home, a lover, a daughter. But when he returns to what little he had, he learnt that he had even less.
He knows he can't stay, he can't stand and fight anymore- he has to become a coward and run, but he can't bare to leave the only thing he had left of his home, the only thing that would be a constant torture but selfish comfort in a foreign land- his daughter, Matilda.
He started a new life for them, moving from place to place, travelling anywhere and everywhere- never stopping in one place for too long. Matilda Conrad would often spend her life behind locked motel doors when her father would take risky tracking missions in order for them to survive. But when a job comes up, one too intriguing and paying to turn away- only a few days away from Matilda's birthday, he can't exactly say no- but he can't leave her behind either.
That was when their lives changed, for better and worse, their routine shattered when James Conrad took Matilda to the island.

❀AUTHOR'S NOTE❀
It's quite surreal that i'm publishing this right now, I have been writing this since September, but I just thought no one would care about this movie enough to read this as it has been out for a while now.
it's been a personal project for a while, but I thought- why not? it seems a little selfish of me not to give this book a chance, and if one person enjoys the outcome- then it'll be worth it.
this book is near enough complete, so I should be able to make frequent updates (but don't count on me, i'm unreliable). I've never completed a fanfiction before, and it's my first piece on here in years- but it should be fun.
this book is heavily based upon the movie 'KONG: SKULL ISLAND' in the second part, however part one mainly consists of a prologue of the story of James Conrad before the island, war and how Matilda Conrad came to be. it's not compulsory to read that section, you could probably start on part two- but for context and to understand references, foreshadowing and the plot as a whole- I would recommend lol.
I'll just quickly encourage you to vote and comment- it'll be greatly appreciated and motivation to get the book up quicker, i'd love to speak to any of you- my messages and comment sections are free-reign to question certain things you may not understand or just to converse with me aha.
thank you for giving this book a chance, welcome to the story of TILDA conrad.
UP NEXT → PART ONE (BEFORE THE ISLAND)
