𝟎𝟏𝟔. country club

chapter sixteen,
country club

Mackenzie entered the gates of the beach club, it was filled with people. Sure she had been here a couple of times but she could never get used to the amount of people.

Her mom waved to her as she sunbathed on a lounging chair. She wore a large cream colored summer hat that almost made her face unseen.

Kenzie waved back as she walked the path towards her mother. "Hi mom," she smiled placing down her tote bag.

"Hi sweetie," Faith smiled back, "How did karate go?" she asked.

She hesitated before speaking, "Fine. Not really anything exciting."

Faith nodded while going back to her sun bathing as she did before. "I'm gonna find the food." Kenzie says, then walks away.

She followed the path and up the staircase, where she was met with Sam. She didn't know whether to ignore her or chat up a storm like she'd usually do.

    "Hey." Kenzie said softly.

"Hi." Sam replied back, grabbing a plate. "I didn't think you would show."

"Seriously? My mom would've killed me if I didn't." the girl joked trying to clear the air.

For a few seconds the air was filled with silence, even though there were tons of people and music playing.

"Did you see Aisha and her new friend?" Sam spoke first.

Mackenzie nodded, filling her plate up with various fruits. "Tory."

"Huh?" Sam looked over at the girl with a confused expression. "Tory. That's her name. Of the girl– Aisha's new friend." Mackenzie added.

"I've missed you, you know." Sam quietly said.

    Mackenzie slowly smiled, "Same here."

Sam smiled while glancing over at the boy who was sitting by the pool. An even bigger smile appeared on her face as she looked at him.

"I don't know what you see in him." Mackenzie laughed as she noticed her.

"Oh please, you think Hawk is hot." Sam joked.

Mackenzie scoffed, "Okay, I never said that!" she shook her head.

Sam crooked an eyebrow up knowing Kenzie's words were a complete lie. "Sure, Kenzie, sure."

Mackenzie has spent the rest of her time at the beach club by the pool. Mostly chilling, trying to put all the karate worrying away. But it was hard to chill when she had overheard Sam and Tory arguing.

"What's wrong?" she stood behind Sam, trying to calm the situation.

"Your bitch ass friend accused me of stealing her mom's wallet." Tory scoffed at Sam.

"I know you did it!" Sam said out loud.

Tory walked towards the two, "Listen, I didn't rob your mom, bitch." She shook her head as she turned around, "You know why, let's just get out of here."

As the girl tried to walk away with Aisha, Sam reached for her bag. "Sam!" Mackenzie called out.

"Get off of me!" Rory exclaimed turning around and pushing Sam, which lead to Mackenzie also falling.

Into the food bar.

People around them gasped as they saw the commotion.

"Are you two okay?" Aisha worried asked, contemplating whether to go after Tory who just left or help her two friend.

"Real nice friend you've made." Sam huffed at her.

Aisha frowned, "You shouldn't have accused her of something like that, though." she says before following after the girl.

Mackenzie sighed as she looked around at the mess her and Sam were lying in. This had to be one of the worst things Mackenzie had ever experienced.

leila's notes !

how is everyone feeling after that ending?? as i said before i'm super confused on how to feel. i don't want to spoil it to much so this spoiler free just in case anyone hasn't finished the rest of the season !!

but i'm currently trying to write a ton to at least get to season three bc i've lost a LOT of motivation towards all of my books which is upsetting but the truth.
