chapter eighteen,
take a right
It was the morning after Mr Larusso had stormed into Cobra Kai to find out who trashed his dojo the other night.
She didn't know who was the culprit but she had a hunch. Knowing who would be that horrible to seek revenge like that.
Luckily, Mackenzie was no snitch. Only in certain cases she was.
Mackenzie walked out of the dojo after another lesson. She didn't have much planned for the afternoon.
Her mom's car pulled up in front of the dojo, "Wanna get ice-cream?" she asked with the window open.
Mackenzie smiled as she nodded. The girl immediately jumped into the passenger's seat. Getting ice cream was something Mackenzie and Faith would do after a debate competition but now that debate season was over they had stopped.
It felt really nice to be back in her old ways again. "Can I just a vanilla cone please." Faith tells the worker Kenzie's order.
"Ooh and sprinkles!" Mackenzie adds as she walks next to her mom.
Faith smiles, "And sprinkles."
Their order was soon ready, they sat in the car with Mackenzie driving towards to pier. They watched the sunset in the sky as they ate their ice creams.
"Thank you." Kenzie says out loud.
Faith looks over to her daughter, "For what?" she laughed a little.
Mackenzie smiled as she continued to look ahead at the sunset. "Just for everything you've done for me. I love you so much and don't know what I'd do without you."
"What's with the happy behaviour?" Faith chuckles.
Kenzie heavily breathed. "I just feel like I'm making all the wrong decisions."
Her mom's smile faded, she turned to her with a stern look on her face. "What do you mean, baby?"
"I think I'm gonna quit Cobra Kai." she deeply sighed, finally admitting what she had been feeing deep down.
"But I thought you liked it there? I mean, I know that Metri isn't doing that stuff anymore but I thought you were doing good with it."
Mackenzie glanced over and shrugged, "It's just not for me. Maybe I might even join the dojo Metri's at." she gave a small smile.
"Well you know I'll be by your side no matter what your choice is." Faith beamed as she rested her head on Kenzie's shoulder.
The two sat in the car and watched the sunset, enjoying each other's company.

It was a decision Mackenzie made when she missed her first ever practice at Cobra Kai. She always committed to her team but this time she didn't.
It was an even bigger decision when she showed up to Miyagi-Do's dojo. She could hear them talking in the backyard of the dojo.
As Mackenzie walked along to find the others, she was reminded of the mess Hawk had made. She watched as they attempted to lift up one of the stones he had knocked down.
"Hello?" she said out loud as she walked along the pavement.
Mackenzie frowned at the silence, "Hello?" she repeated herself again.
"Kenzie?" A familiar voice replied back, which revealed Charlie. "What are you doing here?" He smiled as he saw her face.
"Joining, I think. What are you doing?" Mackenzie said, surprised to see him here.
Charlie dusted his hands off. "Cleaning up the mess Cobra Kai left – I mean supposedly left." He rewordered.
"Oh.." Mackenzie said awkwardly.
Charlie could sense the awkwardness from Mackenzie, "So uh... you're joining?" he asked.
Mackenzie nodded her head "I guess I am." she responded.
"How come?" Charlie questioned.
Mackenzie sighed softly, "I don't know. I sort of had a change of heart I guess."
Charlie was a little bit surprised but he didn't show it. "That's all?" he smirked, still sceptical. Mackenzie rolled her eyes, "Do you need more of an explanation?" she laughed.
"No, no I was just curious." Charlie chuckles. "Anyway, I'm glad you're joining."
Mackenzie blushed a little, "Really? Because it seemed like you were doubtful." she smiled back.
The two walked into the backyard, where they were greeted by the others. They all had a surprised look on their face when they saw Mackenzie.
"What are you doing here?" Demetri blurted out.
"Joining," Mackenzie replied, "What does it look like?" she smirked.
"Really?" Sam questioned, surprised.
"Really, really." Mackenzie reassured.

After the first short session with Mr Larusso, Mackenzie felt that she needed to give an explanation to Sam.
Mackenzie and Sam stayed after the lesson, while everyone else left to go home."I feel like we need to talk, Sam." Mackenzie said quietly, trying not to be overheard.
Sam turned around and looked at Mackenzie, "What about?" she questioned.
Mackenzie took a deep breath and fiddled her fingers nervously, "I know you're probably confused about why I'm here."
"A little, yeah." Sam chuckled, "Not that I don't want you here, it's just a little bit unexpected. I thought you were happy with your boyfriend and your bully friends."
"Eli's not my boyfriend."
"Oh, I thought he was." Sam said, "Well what made you change your mind?"
Mackenzie took a deep breath again and looked down at the floor before responding. "I don't know, I just wasn't happy at Cobra Kai anymore."
Sam could tell that Mackenzie was avoiding something but didn't want to press it any further. "Why weren't you happy?"
"Because they're bad people, Sam, really bad people."
Sam questioned, surprised at Mackenzie's response. "You didn't think that before?"
Mackenzie shrugged, "I don't know why I didn't think that before. I guess it's because I was friends with them."
Sam hummed her response and nodded, "Well I'm glad you're here now."
— leila's notes !
another chapter is done, not too happy with it and it's honestly a filler chapter but i love how it shows the relationships between kenzie, sam and her mother
besides that, kenzie is officially apart of miyagi-do! it's not what i initially wanted, but at least kenzie has something good going on in her life
thank you so much for all the reads, votes and comments on this book! your support does not go unnoticed <33
