𝟎𝟎𝟑. cobra kai never dies
chapter three,
cobra kai never dies
It was the day after Halloween. Mackenzie had witnessed Miguel hurt and not knowing what to do. The strange man who barged in and took over — help Miguel get home safely.
She hadn't thought about anything else but him the rest of the night. It was the first thing that entered her mind when she woke up.
To try and past time, she made a gift basket from him and his family. As she roamed the stores her basket began to fill up — which for once was a good sign.
"Is that all for today?" The man at the register asked as the last two items slid on the conveyer belt.
"Yep." Mackenzie minded, having her card already out and ready to check out.
She had planned so much before her day had began. But of course her main priority was to make sure Miguel was okay. She paid for the items and left in a hurry. Her pace quickly increased as she was lost in her thoughts.
As she hurried to her car, the girl took a moment to catch her breath. After all that time she hadn't even taken a break for herself. She put on the radio to possibly calm the mood — helping only a little.
It was only a short drive to the apartments where Miguel lived. Before she left her car, she took in a deep breath. It was going to be okay.
Mackenzie grabbed the basket and headed to the Diaz's front door. The Diaz home was quiet. Miguel lived with mom and abuelita. It was a nice, small home.
Even if he wasn't happy here, he felt at home. Mackenzie knocked on the door and waited. After a little while, Carmen, his mother, opened the door. Mackenzie held her breath. The lady in front of her had curly locks and looked very tired. Like she hadn't slept for days.
The woman seemed surprised to see her at first, then smiled as she invited her in. The woman noticed the basket and asked about it.
Mackenzie replied, saying, "That's for Miguel." Carmen asked, "Oh? Are you a friend of Miggy?"
"I am." Mackenzie kept smiling at Carmen to reassure the woman she was friendly while inside, she prayed it wasn't obvious to notice her nerves.
This is the first time she had seen Miguel's house and his mother. She had no idea what Carmen's reaction and the rest of the family's reaction to her presence would be.
"May I give it to him?" Asked Mackenzie her heart beating fast. "Of course, please come with me."
Carmen smiled and brought her deeper towards the house to Miguel's room with the basket in hand. When they reached the door, Carmen spoke quietly to her.
"He is still sleeping but go ahead." For a moment Mackenzie could hardly breathe, but she nodded and grinned as she walked into the room.
Miguel's mother was the one who had the door closed after the girl hesitantly walked into his room. Miguel had a basic room, it suited him and how he acted. The boy laid in his bed on his left side his cream coloured walls.
Red posters with different design were sprung around on his walls. Three were above where he laid and the others were spread around the bedroom. She wasn't sure if she should wake him up or if she just dropped the basket and left.
The second option was the easiest and most comfortable for Mackenzie. She sat the basket on his desk where his homework laid, she slowly crept out of this room trying to disturb him. But, before she was able to place her hand on the doorknob Miguel called out her name.
"Kenzie?" He mumbles, "What are you doing here?" Mackenzie shifts her body to turn to him. "Hey, Miguel. Your mom let me in, I dropped off that basket." She points to the well prepared basket.
"Why would you do that?" Miguel sat up, he looked sore from last night but no damages were done.
"I felt bad. Plus I wanted to check up on you." The girl hints a smile and slightly shrugs her shoulders.
Miguel looks over to the brunette girl as she pulls her eyes down. The silence in between them was so loud, the only sound was their heartbeats. It felt awkward even though the past days it had been easy going.
"Miguel—" As Mackenzie turned to speak, the boy planted a kiss forcing her to stop mid sentence. "Oh my god."
Mackenzie pulled away as she felt his lips touch hers. Unfortunately, the girl didn't feel the same way as he did. She felt terrible as she watched Miguel's face turn from happiness to embarrassment.
"Miguel. I'm sorry." She sighs. He looks down, not wanting to see her. And Mackenzie already knew that was her cue to leave.

A few hours passed by, but the embarrassment still stung Mackenzie's mind. The young girl was desperate for a distraction, anything that might come in her way, she was ready to take.
"Mackenzie!" She heard the frustration storming towards her room.
It definitely wasn't her mother — Faith being some who had hope and never chose violence. "What did you do to Miguel?" Demetri demanded an answer, standing in her now open door frame.
"I..." She was a loss for words. It wasn't something hard to get off her chest, it was just embarrassing.
How are you supposed to admit to your brother that his new friend tried to kiss you and then you accidentally broke his heart.
"He said he won't show up for school. Now Eli and I will have to sit alone. Again."
"Well it's not like that's anything new.." She mocks under her breath. "What?" Demetri furrows his brows. "Nothing."
Their mother came rushing down the hallway to deal with the problem, "Hey, hey! What is all the yelling for?" She arrives while dusting her hands together.
"Mackenzie here decided it was a good idea to drive Miguel away." Demetri talks first. "Mom, that's not even what happened. I was just trying to do a nice gesture — like you always say to yourself, and give Miguel a gift. Then he sorta kissed me. But I didn't kiss him back!"
On the last part of the sentence, she made it very clear that she didn't kiss him. "I'm sorry, who's Miguel?" Faith shakes her head trying to understand what happened.
"A new kid at school who graciously decided to become friends with me and Eli—"
"And me." Kenzie adds, slightly whispering. And gaze drops to the ground. Demetri whips his head, giving his sister a scrunched face, hinting at her to shut her mouth.
"Sorry." Mackenzie mumbles, rolling her brown eyes. "Fine, that's it." Faith breaths, only finding one way to sort the situation out.
"Mom, no." Her daughter pleads. "Hug it out." Faith orders her children to do so before exiting the room and down to the kitchen.
"But Mom!" The two children yell out to their mother as she walks off. "I don't care, just do it." She yells from the end of the hallway.
"I hate you."
"I hate you even more."
