Lepidolite
Lepidolite
Lepidolite demands reconciliation. So make with the nicey-nice.
“Come with us.”
“I can’t.”
“Yes, you can. You’re just scared.” Rose said easily. Savannah glares, slamming her book shut.
“I am not!”
“Then come with us! It’s just Halloween. Uncle George always has the greatest family parties at his shop. Please?”
“I’ll be the only new one there.” She complains.
“Not true. Peregrine’s sort of new. Jonathon! Jonathon is new.” Rose smiles victoriously. Savannah bites her lip but nods eventually. Peregrine and Rose were still not on a talking basis, but they were warming to each other.
“Okay, I’ll go. When is it?” Rose looks at the clock in the common room.
“In ten minutes.”
“WHAT?!” Her hand is grabbed and she is pulled up to their dorm room, where Rose proceeds to throw clothes at her from her dresser.
“Luckily, I picked out your outfit ages ago. I’m going as a weasel. Wait until you see Scorpius’.” It had only been two weeks since the match, but Scorpius had not spoken to her since then. She was bewildered as to what she had done to upset him.
“This appears to be a griffin.” Savannah says suspiciously. The gold shirt was V-neck and soft as cashmere. The pants were also gold, but of a more burnt shade and felt like velvet. There was even an attachable tail, with lion paw slippers and gloves with bird talons on the fingers for her hands.
“Might as well have fun with this.” She tells Rose, waving her hands over her head. Her hair is suddenly made of black feathers, looking more enchanting than before. Over her face, a mask of a sarcastically smiling griffin with accented purple eyes appears.
“Awesome mask!” Rose chirps. She goes to touch it, only to feel skin. “What the hell?”
“It’s like a magical tattoo.” Savannah explains. Rose praises it before asking her to do the same for her face. A beautiful russet and white furred weasel face appears seconds later. Rose squeals and the girls rush out of the common room, heading to Professor Malfoy’s office so they can floo to the store.
“Lionel is going to love it.” Savannah says teasingly. Rose can’t blush because of the tattoo, but she sticks her tongue out.
“I heard Lionel saved Peregrine from Gladys a few days ago.” Rose comments. Savannah rolls her eyes.
“He doesn’t like her. He’s just a good person. I can’t wait to see your dad’s face, when he realizes that his daughter fancies a Slytherin.”
“Weasley Wizard Wheezes!” Rose shouts quickly, throwing the floo powder in and pushing Savannah in, jumping immediately after.
The shop was already in full swing party mode. New Halloween inventions are everywhere, howling werewolf candies, vampire statues that bite if you get too close, and miniature fireworks going off everywhere. Rose stops Savannah at the top of the stairs.
“Are you ready for Weasley-Potter-Malfoy-Zabini-Jordan 101?” Rose asks, smiling with an evil glint. Savannah gulps but nods. Rose begins to point to people wandering below, stating name and relation
“Okay, first people first. Grandmum and Grand-da Weasley, also known as Arthur and Molly. That’s Bill and Fleur, oldest son. Their kids are Victoire, Dominique, and Louis. Over there is Charlie, he married Janice and their son is Wallace; I know, he’s a real wanker too. Percy and his wife Audrey, with their daughters Molly and Lucy. Next is George, with Angelina, and their kids Fred and Roxxanne, they’re twins, but Fred had a slight accident over summer and will be coming back to Hogwarts in the middle of November, when his speech returns. There’s Ron and Lavender, with their wonderful daughter, ME! And then there’s Hugo.” She says flippantly. Savannah stores away all the info and focuses on where Rose is pointing.
“Ginny and Harry, with James, Albus, and Lily. Those are the Potters of course. The Malfoys are Draco and Hermione, with Scorpius. The Jordan’s, Lee and Ophelia, and their son Geoffrey. Blaise and Pansy Zabini with their sons Lionel and Henry. Oh! That’s Teddy Lupin. Grandma Tonks, his grandmother, died several years ago. He grew up in Uncle Harry’s home. He’s dating Victoire. There’s Jonathon over there with Louis. Molly and Lucy are first and second years right now. Dominique and Louise go to Beauxbatons. Wallace goes to school at Durmstrang, since Uncle Charlie lives in Romania. Peregrine is the one in the kitten costume, standing by Lionel.” Rose finishes stiffly.
“Holy Salazar, that’s a lot of people.” Savannah comments breathlessly.
“Forty-one including us.” Rose leads her down the stairs. Harry and Ginny are waiting for them.
“Rose! Never thought you’d make it.” Albus calls out. He rushes past his parents to hug both girls and lead them to the adults. He’s dressed as a handsome tawny owl, with ears to match.
“This is my mum, Ginny.” Ginny gives Savannah a small hug.
“We’ve heard so much about you, Savannah. How are you liking Hogwarts?”
“It’s the best place I have ever been.” Savannah answers earnestly. Ginny smiles and the kids make their way through the crowd; with Savannah being introduced to everyone they pass. By the time they make it over to Peregrine, Savannah has a headache with all the names and faces.
“Savannah!” Peregrine greets, hugging her friend. She gives Rose a tentative smile, which she doesn’t return. Lionel stares at Rose, obviously riveted.
“You look very weasel-y, Rose.” He offers nervously. Rose colours and thanks him, getting closer to speak with him.
“I’ve got to go talk to Uncle Ron about something. You’ll be okay?” Albus asks Savannah. She gestures for him to go and draws Peregrine slightly away.
“What was that fight about?” She demands. Her eyes flash purple and Peregrine admits defeat.
“She was going to tell Albus that I like him.” She whispers.
“That’s it?”
“Well…no, I told her that if she did, I would tell Lionel that she liked him.” Savannah smacks her forehead, shaking her head.
“That’s it?!” Peregrine stares at her.
“Of course.” Savannah walks over to Rose, who’s laughing about something with Lionel.
“Come here” She latches onto the redhead and drags her over to Peregrine, who watches with apprehension.
“You, come here.” She takes Peregrine’s wrist and drags both girls, with some struggle, to the store front’s door.
“Seriously, you’re fighting about boys?” Savannah yells once the door closes behind them. The night air is frigid and crisp, making all three girls shiver.
“You told her?” Rose demands.
“She didn’t have a choice. Rose, have some sense. If Peregrine had been the first to say she was telling Lionel about your crush, because she wanted to help, would you not have said that you would tell Albus about her crush?” Savannah demands. Rose opens and closes her mouth several times.
“And Peregrine, Rose was only trying to play matchmaker. Albus, I think, really likes you. But since you two are stubborn, and those boys are clueless, we’ll just sit back and wait for one of them to make a move, okay? Stop Fighting!” Savannah scolds. Rose’s jaw is dropped while Peregrine’s eyes are on the floor.
“I’m going back inside. You two can talk it out. But be warned, if you aren’t friends again when I see you, I’m going to use my magic for terrible, terrible things.” Savannah slams the door behind her. Peregrine and Rose share a long minute of silence before Peregrine looks up.
“I’m sorry.” Rose looks up, her cheeks pink, even through her mask.
“Me too. I should have let you do your own thing.”
“No, it was kind. I was just scared.” Rose holds out her arms and Peregrine hugs her back tightly.
“I’m more scared of Savannah’s wrath.” Rose jokes.
“You’re telling me. I’d rather you tell Albus right now than face her. She’d probably turn us into deer or something.” Rose laughs.
“Absolutely. Ready to party? Lionel told me all the teenagers are going into the backroom, where the firewhiskey was smuggled.” Peregrine hesitates but nods.
“Let’s go! I’d rather not have hooves.” They link arms and walk back into the room; laughing with each other and making all of their friends feel a lot better with their comradeship.
Savannah, meanwhile, had wandered over to Jonathon. He was still talking with Louis.
“Hey Merlin. Took you long enough.” Jonathon smiles teasingly. Savannah grins and looks at Louis.
“Savannah Merlin.” She holds out her hand. He takes it and kisses the back of it, speaking with a strong French accent.
“It’s nice to me you.”
“Firewhiskey’s in the backroom. All the teens are heading there.” Louis mentions. Jonathon looks nervous but Savannah tugs his arm.
“Take a risk, Jonathon. If you get a hangover, I’ll make it go away.” Savannah grins encouragingly. He blushes under her stare and nods hesitantly.
“Sure, okay.” As they followed Louis, Savannah noted how only the adults were left in the room, the older children gone. Only Lucy, Molly, Hugo, Lily, and Henry remained. They seemed to be spread out, making it appear as if the teens were still there.
“Nice strategy.” Savannah complimented to Louis, who laughed and pushed open a heavy wooden door. Inside, the lights were slightly dimmed, and bodies crowded on the dance floor.
“We invited a few others from Hogwarts.” Lionel fell into step beside Savannah and Jonathon as Louis went off towards the firewhiskey.
“Like who?”
“Any sixth year and up who wanted to come. So, basically, all of them.” Savannah chuckles and takes the proffered goblet of deep amber liquid. Jonathon was handed one also.
“Does it burn?” She asks. Lionel threw back another shot of Dragon Spit, the wizard vodka, and nodded.
“Oh yeah, but you get used to it. It’s delicious.” He walks into the crowd. Jonathon looks nervously at his goblet, but Savannah sips hers.
“Woo! That is a kick.” She comments, raising her eyebrows. Jonathon finally takes a sip of his, coughing seconds later and his eyes watering.
“Not for me.” He sets the goblet down on the nearest table and looks at Savannah.
“What do you think?” Savannah takes a gulp, smacking her lips together.
“It’s okay. I prefer the African FireCrab mead. It’s got a lot more flavor, more kick, and makes you drunk as hell in two sips.” Savannah reveals. Jonathon smiles and picks his goblet back up, deciding to give it another shot.
“There’re a lot of people here. Do you want to dance?” Jonathon asks boldly when he drains his cup. His head is pleasantly fogged over. Savannah grins and sets her own, half-filled goblet down.
“Sure” He pulls her to the dance floor, falling into the rhythm of the other dancers, with swinging hips, rocking bodies, and grinding steps. His hands fall to her hips and she smiles up at him, lifting her own hands into the air and letting herself dance.
“Initiation!” Someone yells a few minutes later. The music doesn’t stop, nor lowers, but the dancers slowly stop and gather around. Rose is standing in the middle, a goblet in hand.
“We have two newbies here, my fellow crazies, and you know the rules.” Rose waggles her eyebrows. Savannah draws her brows together. What rules? Jonathon, with his hands still around her waist, steps closer as Rose turns to look at them.
“Savannah and Jonathon are our new gold members of the party club!” Rose cheers. The surrounding students and teens clap and whistle. Rose beckons the two forward. They come hesitantly.
“You know the drill. Line up gents, and initiate Savannah into the club. Ladies, take care of Jonathon over here.” Jonathon looks wide-eyed at Savannah as everyone starts towards them. Was Rose serious?
“Oh, and not everyone has to. Especially if you have a significant other, are related to one of the two persons, or do not wish to.” The lines for the two went down significantly, the guys grumbling and the girls giggling. The music gets turned up and Savannah finds herself faced with James. He grins devilishly at her.
“This is really weird.” Savannah comments nervously. James nods.
“Trust me; it’s a great way to figure out who’s a good kisser.” James chuckles and leans forward, pressing a quick kiss to her lips. She widens her eyes as he leaves, to be replaced by Geoffrey, who opts for her cheek, having placed her in the ‘sister’ category. A few Gryffindor and Hufflepuff guys follow, before a guy that looks like a male version of Roxxanne is before her. He looks fine, except he can’t talk.
“You must be Fred.” Savannah smiles as he waves energetically. He’s a fourth year, but kisses her with no hesitation. He waves again as he walks away. Several Ravenclaw boys are before her, and Savannah almost runs away as they kiss her like sixteenth century gentlemen, on the cheeks or her forehead. She didn’t particularly want to kiss them, but they should at least have the guts to!
She looks over and sees Jonathon almost through his line as well, his cheeks permanently red and a few lipstick stains covering his face. She starts to giggle and he shoots her a dramatic glare. She wiggles her fingers at him before she’s suddenly swooped down in someone’s arms.
“Hi Albus” She laughs. He chuckles and kisses her for a few seconds, putting her upright when he’s done. He bows and she smacks his head. Lionel comes after him.
“Not so fast.” Savannah stops him mere centimeters from her lips. He looks at her curiously.
“Kiss Rose instead.” She winks. His eyes light up and he kisses her cheek enthusiastically before going over to the watching redhead and picking her off her feet, pressing his face to hers.
“Merlin” Savannah looks back to see the Gryffindor Seeker before her.
“Hey Jasper.” His eyes are bright with lust as he brings his lips to hers. After a few seconds, she goes to pull away, but he doesn’t let go.
“Jasper!” A sharp whisper is heard. The brute lets go, only to bend over as it feels his insides are burning up. Savannah’s eyes flash purple.
“How dare you!” Savannah whisper-yells, not wanting to cause a scene. A tall youth, in his mid-twenties, takes him by the collar and throws him off to the side before turning back to face her. He has brilliant blue hair and kind brown eyes.
“Useless sod. You okay there, darlin’?” Savannah blushes, feeling bad for losing her temper.
“I’m fine. Thank you, Teddy.” He grins and kisses her cheek before ambling back to a tall and beautiful blonde haired girl. Probably Victoire.
“Hey” Savannah blinks and sees Scorpius standing before her, dressed in majestic silver and brown in the manner of a scorpion. His hands are in his pockets, his shoulders imperceptibly slumped. His brown eyes pierce hers.
“So you’re finally talking to me?” Savannah asks rather sharply. Scorpius gives a slight flinch, his eyes flickering around to look at the raging party, the darkened room with flashing lights and loud music, the smell of alcohol and sweat ranging in the air.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He says. Savannah says nothing.
“So you and Allerby, huh?’ Scorpius breaks the silence. Savannah looks over to where Jonathon is leaning against the far wall, wiping his face furiously with his sleeve. She laughs and turns back to a frowning Scorpius.
“What do you mean?”
“Your boyfriend, Savannah.” He responds impatiently. Savannah’s eyes widen.
“Boyfriend?” She squeaks.
“Yes!”
“I don’t have a boyfriend. I’ve never had one.” Savannah tells him. Scorpius’ mouth drops open slightly.
“But, at the game, you were holding hands, and you spend all your time with him. You even came here with him.” He stammers.
“Of course I spend all my time with him, Scorp. Rose and Peregrine were being unbearable, Albus was off in his little studying world, and you weren’t speaking to me.” Scorpius rubs the back of his neck and smiles apologetically at her.
“Sorry about that.” She shrugs.
“It’s not like you killed me.” She mutters. Scorpius is about to respond when Jonathon walks up.
“My turn” His face is determined and he turns Savannah towards him, his hands at her waist and his head bent to hers. His lips touch hers feverishly and she responds slightly before pulling away.
“I think you’ve had too much, Jonathon.” She mumbles, her face bright red. Scorpius’ expression is stoic. Jonathon frowns and pulls her a little bit away.
“I like you Savannah. That’s why I kissed you.” He admits. Savannah’s mouth drops open.
“Oh, I…uh….”
“You don’t like me, do you?” He asks in a small voice. Savannah touches his shoulder gently.
“I wish I did. You’re a wickedly awesome guy.” His shoulders slump and he nods.
“I guess I can see why.” He says mysteriously. Savannah resists asking; only pulling him in for a hug.
“Can we still be friends? I mean, when you’re comfortable with it.” He smiles at her, his eyes sad but determined.
“Of course. It will take me a while, but I’ll always be your friend.” He leans in and kisses her cheek before walking away. She watches him go and turns to look for Scorpius.
She finds him easily enough, leaning up against some girl from Ravenclaw, their faces mashed together and hands running wild.
“Well, he’s busy.” Peregrine notes as she pops up beside her. Savannah nods and turns to her friend.
“I don’t feel well, Peregrine. Can we go back?” And indeed, her face is pale and she appears to be sweaty. Peregrine nods, stopping by a busy Rose and Lionel to let her know before sneaking back into the main room.
“Hogwarts” Peregrine instructs as they step into the fireplace in the office. The flames whirl about Savannah sickeningly before spitting her and Peregrine out onto Professor Malfoy’s office floor.
“So, who was the best kisser?” Peregrine asks as they walk up the steps to their dorm room. Savannah, already pulling off her robe and wiping her face with her sleeves, contemplates.
“James and Albus. There’s a tie.” She starts undoing her braid as Peregrine changes into her pj’s.
“It must be a Potter thing.” Peregrine says wistfully.
“Oh, we’ll work on him later.” Savannah promises. She sits down on her bed, staring at her pajama clad legs.
“I think James was the best. He was my first.” Savannah decides. Peregrine gasps.
“He was your first kiss?”
“Yes, why?” Savannah looks over to see Peregrine’s eyes glinting red with anger.
“Rose had no right to do that!”
“Peregrine, how could she have known? It’s not her fault, and honestly it wasn’t so bad. Can we just go to bed?”
“Very well, but next time, speak up. I hope you feel better.” Savannah thanks her and lies back, pulling only her sheets over her body.
“Sleep well.” She tells Peregrine.
“You too.”
