"Do you have a computer?" I asked, already having a few ideas in my mind.
"Oh, yeah..." Josephine leaned down, under her bed, brandishing a silver laptop. "Here you go."
Without question, I took it, laying across my bed. As soon as I found the Safari app, I typed in the one title I had found in the magazine.
Hot Sophisticated outfits.
At once, I saw many recommendations I would have never searched for in my entire life. The first link I clicked on led to a buckled leather dress that would have stopped at my mid-thighs.
When Josephine saw what I was looking at, her jaw dropped. "Is that what you have in mind?"
"I don't know." I replied. "I mean... do I look like I know what I'm doing? Isn't that what the majority of the fraternity wears?"
"I don't think so." Josephine said. "A lot of the girls seem to be more laid back."
What I wanted to reply with was : Not Kylie. The thought of possibly showing up Hero made me even more excited about the idea.
"Well, I want to lay back and have fun." I grinned. "I think it would be good for me to let go for one night."
I eyed the eighty bucks in my hand.
"What store is the dress at?" Josephine asked.
I squinted at the bright screen. "It says... Revolutionary clothing..."
Josephine jumped up from her bed. "I think we may have time before they close. Let's go!"
It was fairly easy to find the exact dress I'd seen online. The stylist was excited, finding the smallest size on the rack, allowing me to try it on.
It was different than anything I'd ever worn. It was as tight as a corset on my skin and it showed off more than I was comfortable with.
Despite all this, I still decided to waste fifty dollars on it. When Josephine saw the miserable scrap of leather, she stood silent for what felt like an hour.
"Just so you know," she began, "I won't be wearing anything like this."
I couldn't help but laugh. "I'm not expecting you to." I paused, knowing this dress wasn't enough. "Do you know how to do makeup?"
Josephine snorted. "Does it look like I ever really apply makeup? The most I can do is mascara."
I blushed knowing she had a good point.
"You're right. I'm sure Saturday I can ask to leave a little early. That way I can find a store that can do it for me. They still do that right?"
Josephine looked at me with pity.
I sighed. I had a lot to learn.
