Hello everyone ❤ sorry my uploading schedule has been strange. I should be getting back on track by tomorrow.

I scooted across the bed.

"What?"

Rose blew a harsh breath out of her mouth.

"Yeah, I think you may have had a point. They allowed him one call. I said I would bail him out."

I rubbed my eyes.

"How much is it?"

She laughed.

"Nothing I couldn't afford. Come on. I'm sure you want to know what he did this time."

I nodded as Rose slowly eased me out of bed. For a minute, my legs seemed like jello, but after awhile it wore off.

I didn't bother changing the clothes I had slept in. I was too worried about what Hero had gotten himself into.

Jail. Even after all the fights he'd gotten into, he'd never actually gotten arrested.

Had all his other victims just been too forgiving? Perhaps he had hit the wrong person this time.

My heart pounded as we raced downtown. I understood that what happened to me was terrible, but his temper was at an all-time high.

He didn't even take the time to ponder on what had occured.

All he saw was me drugged up and... well... had Rose told him everything? Oh crap. I hadn't taken that into account.

But even then... he needed to learn to deal with these situations the correct way. Not everything could be solved with violence. Sooner or later, Nora and her pals would get their justice.

He needed to slow down.

When we made it to the shockingly small building, I all but rushed inside. I didn't waste any time letting the sheriff know why we were there.

It had, of course, taken an hour for all the documents to be finalized, but I soon saw my fiance being led out to the lobby, without handcuffs around his wrists.

I remained silent as we made our way outside. I didn't have much to say to him right now. This was one of the most ridiculous things he'd done.

I was disappointed to say the least.

Rose backed against a curb, as if sensing a fight as I advanced towards Hero.

"What the hell were you thinking?" I demanded.

He remained motionless, not uttering a word.

I scoffed throwing my hands in the air.

"What, you can't say anything now? Or are you just ignoring me because I left when you didn't want me to?"

To my shock, he grumbled under his breath.

"Partly, yes."

As I examined his face further, I now saw the beginnings of a purplish bruise near his mouth.

"The least you can do is tell me what happened," I said, "you didn't fight Nora did you? "

Hero looked at me like I'd really gone crazy.

"Who do you think I am? I'd never hit a woman. I made a point of beating the shit out of her friends and making sure they couldn't breathe correctly. They were all little boys... brave enough to hurt a girl... but too cowardly to face me."

I blinked.

"So, you heard what happened?"

Hero chuckled darkly.

"I didn't wait around long enough for Rose to reveal all the gritty details. I went over to the frat for answers. They gave them to me sooner or later. Unfortunately, some prick in the place ratted me out."

"Who admitted everything?" I asked extremely interested.

"I got a few miserable answers from a few of the guys," he began, "but... Kylie... told me about it all."

I sucked in a sharp breath. So she was still there? Still hanging with the same friends?

Hero cleared his throat.

"Do you and her have some sort of... friendship now or something?"

I stared down at the concrete flooded by the street light.

"Not really, but after hearing that she was the one that alerted Rose... I can't hate her at the moment."

Hero didn't reply to this.

Surveying the reserved look on his features, I knew he was still perturbed by her. It would take him a century to admit weakness.

I ran a hand through my disheveled hair.

"This can't happen again."

My remark caught his attention; his head snapped up. No longer was the frat boy that had just beaten the crap out of some fellow friends.

He was now full of fear, his expression one of terror.

"The fights... your anger," I went on, "I can't have you putting yourself in danger and costing us our future. We're getting married. Next time you get arrested, it could be for life."

Hero glowered.

"I did this... for you..."

I felt my eyes water.

"I get that." I sniffled. "I'm so glad that you would protect me to this extent but... things need to change. You need to be more serious. Unless you really want to lose me."

Despite Rose watching from the sidelines, he took ahold of me, dragging me aside.

"You know that's the last thing I want." He breathed.

I sighed.

"Then you need to show me."

With one last fleeting look at Rose, Hero gathered me into his arms.
