When I opened my eyes, I heard several voices. They were in deep discussion, of what I couldn't tell.
When I came to and searched for familiar faces, Cole appeared, offering a hand.
I saw that nearly half the employees were gathered in the room and the cops were nowhere to be seen.
"Are you alright?" Cole asked, steadying me.
I took a deep breath, eyeing everyone.
"I'm not sure. Where- where are the police?"
Cole scratched his head.
"They left twenty minutes ago, said that they'd gathered enough. You've been out cold for twice that amount of time. We were about to call an ambulance if you didn't wake."
I shut my eyes, remembering the embarrassing video.
"I suppose this has affected my job." I guessed.
Cole looked down at me with a soft expression.
"Not in my eyes. The cops made it clear you were off with a warning, didn't they? You don't have anything to worry about. We've given you pay for the amount of time you weren't on the clock."
I blew out a sigh of relief, shocked at this fact.
"Oh my god... I don't know how to thank you..."
He smiled. "You can start by calling me by my first name more often. I don't like feeling like I'm some strict asshole."
I nodded. "Right... sorry... Cole."
He smiled down at me once again, unwilling to look away. For a moment I thought I saw a sparkle in his green eyes.
Tawnee instantly bursted into the office through the throng of employees, wrapping her arms around me.
"Oh my dear, are you okay? You passed out for quite some time-! Do you need to go home?"
I shook my head. "No, I can't. I have to stay. I didn't work enough hours. My income-"
"If housing is what you're concerned about," Tawnee began, "the hotel expenses are paid for by the company."
Oh that was right. I had honestly forgotten about that, though I did still need to save up for any other expenses.
I still needed a car.
"I'm very appreciative of that." I smiled. "I just have other bills to pay."
"I see," Tawnee nodded, "As long as you're sure, I'll fax you the workload for the morning. If you need help with anything throughout the day, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be standing by, in my office, until lunch."
After sharing a tight hug, Tawnee left the office, gathering the group of employees with her.
Cole turned back to me, tipping his head.
"So, should we plan for a lunch date? Or maybe I could give you a ride home."
I remembered Hero offering to do both those things. If I was being honest with myself, I wanted nothing more than to be near him and only him.
It seemed I had grown a co-dependency. I knew it wasn't good, but I needed him by my side, like we were before.
I found I couldn't sleep very well without him.
"I don't think that would be a good idea." I said. "My boyfriend wouldn't like that very much."
Cole cleared his throat awkwardly.
"It's strictly professional- just two co-workers enjoying each others time."
"Well, he already offered," I tried to laugh, "he's also kind of protective."
Cole didn't seem to let up; he sighed, sounding exasperated.
"Does your boyfriend always make decisions for you?"
Again, this didn't seem appropriate enough for the work environment. I ignored his comment, starting to walk out the door.
"I'm sorry, Cole. I have to clock in."
As I made my way to the computer by the front desk, Brendan pounced on me as Cole made his way past, looking frumpy.
"What happened?" He demanded.
I shook my head, not wanting to get into it.
"Just drama. I'll tell you another time."
Brendan rolled his eyes. "Fine, be that way. Now, that you're here, you can do a coffee run."
Without question, he tossed me a list. As I made my way out the office, I nearly fainted.
As the day went on, things went fairly smooth. The entire issue with the cops seemed to have disappeared all together and the office was working like a well-run machine again.
Before I knew it, lunch had come around. I was busy answering a few emails on my desktop when a large group bustled by my open door.
My stomach had begun to growl and I wondered if it was a good idea to run by a deli.
Before I could clean my area, a knock sounded. Preparing an excuse for Cole, I looked up, only to find Hero, leaning lazily against the glass.
How could one person look so tempting doing something so simple?
"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, walking towards my desk.
I shook my head.
Hero raised a brow. "Then why do you look like that? I told you I'd be here for lunch."
"I don't- I mean- how did you get past the receptionist?"
Hero sighed, now looking more worried.
"Tawnee called me a few minutes ago. Said you had me down as your emergency contact. I heard you passed out. I came as quickly as I could- that bitch wasn't going to hold me back."
I released a wide smile.
"Sometimes I don't think I deserve you."
Hero gave me a dark look.
"I'd say it's the other way around... are we alone?"
I furrowed my brows. "I don't know. Hero, we need to talk-"
"It can wait." He growled, slamming my door shut, turning the lock.
"No, I really-" I tried to say but was cut off.
Hero came over, yanking me out of my seat. He pushed me against my desk, looking at me with want in his eyes.
I knew this look all too well.
"Does that prick work in the office next to you?" He demanded.
"Who, Cole?"
Hero glared. "Oh, is that the fuckers name? Well he's about to hear you scream my name."
What?
"You're not going to..." I began but trailed off already knowing he wanted to have sex.
The subject about the police was driven out of my mind.
"We can't have sex in my office!" I hissed.
"Can't we?" Hero asked, raising an eyebrow. "We've locked the door."
I blushed. "But... my door! It's translucent... you can see shadows in it."
Hero smirked, eyeing my dress. "Well we better hope they don't catch on."
Then, without warning, he spun me around, laying me facedown on the cold desk, sprawling my papers on the ground.
He lifted my long skirt, baring my naked behind, slapping it harshly.
He then cupped both my cheeks, spreading them wide.
"I'm going to fuck you now, Kristina."
CLIFFHANGER!!
Love you all 💗💗
Trust me, I love Cole, but there's just something about a badboy.
Kudos to Cole though he's really trying.
