I was back in my normal room but I kept to myself more. I already said what I needed to, to Baoshan. Lan Zhan was not back yet but I would not blame him if he never came back. Why would he want to? I have not been a good partner to him, especially when I broke the tie between us twice now. The mood stabilizers that Baoshan gave me made me tired so I'd sleep most of the day, but when I was awake, I just felt empty.
I sighed and stoop up from my bed. I then just went for a walk outside. The air was nice and I needed it. After finding out I have been in a coma for two years, I felt I wasted my time away. Though, I didn't know what kind of time I missed, nothing was really worth wasting. If I was still bound to Lan Zhan, I'd say differently, but I cannot say that I missed him as I was the one who kept pushing him away. I sat down next to a tree near a riverside. I just curled up my legs to my chest and rested my head down.
I closed my eyes and I began to hear voices, "A'Ying?" A male voice spoke
I opened my eyes and saw two iridescent figures standing in front of me...two spirits...who were the, "who are you?" I asked, "how do you know my name?"
"I guess since you were very little the last time you saw us, it would make sense that you'd forgotten what your parents look like," the woman said.
"My parents?" I asked, "how is this possible?"
"You are a master of Yin and Yang. You can see and speak to spirits. Now that you have our cores, you have something that will allow you to see us whenever you want," Father said.
"I am sorry I have become like this, I have reduced to a pretty low bar," I told them.
"We have been watching over you child," Mother said, "your father and I are so sorry that you are suffering so much. It is the last thing the two of us want."
"I do not know how to fix myself, Mama," I said quietly, "I feel so broken."
"Anything that is broken can always be fixed, it may not be the same as it once was, but that just means that you need to learn to accept the new reality. You are in pain because of things you suffered as a child. Your grandmother will never let anyone ever hurt you like that again. I promise you. You are strong A'Ying, and you can come back from this. Just keep those who love and care about you close and try to do things that make you happy. You love to make things and you have a lot of training that you can still do. You are an immortal and you have an unlimited amount of time to do everything and anything you want. That includes, getting your soulmate back. He wants you in his life, A'Ying. Do not keep pushing him aside when all he wants is to be there for you and love you like no one else can," my mother told me.
"You said I can see you whenever I want...but what if I need privacy?" I asked.
They laughed, "we will know when you need us," Father said, "now, can you stand up so we can look at you properly?"
I stood up like they asked me to. They then looked over me, "you have grown so tall," Mother said, "and handsome."
"Mama," I said trying to hold back a smile.
"Hey, won't you smile for me?" She asked, "I always remembered my son having the most beautiful smile."
This time I did smile. It felt good to see them. Seeing them gave me some confidence that I had lost long ago. They were right, if I wanted, I should do some things that make me happy. I should work on being better. My parents did not want me to waste my life away like this, and constantly pushing people away anytime they get too close. I guess I was just scared. I was scared that if I got too close to anyone again, I'd lose them, and the pain would be worse than the pain I deal with now.
"Fear is what either drives us to overcome it or stops us from acting. Do not let fear divide you, A'Ying. Even find a way to overcome that fear of dogs of yours, it might come in handy," Father said, "your mother and I need to go, but we will always be with you, and if you need us, all you need to do is seek is out."
"Thank you," I said, "I love you and I miss you both so much."
"We know, and we love and miss you too, A'Ying," Mother said before she and father faded away.
I smiled as newfound tears fell again but they were not out of pain or sadness, but out of relief. I needed to see them, that one moment with them helped me feel like I could get through this. I had to, and I had to make things right again. I walked back to Baoshan's house and went to find her.
"Wai Po?" I called out.
"I am out back, A'Ying," she called back.
I then walked out to the backyard and saw that she was focused on something. I walked to stand beside her and looked were she looked. Lan Zhan had come back. I smiled and turned to Baoshan, "I just spoke with my parents," I told her.
She looked at me, "you discovered a new ability of yours," she said, "did they say something to you?"
I nodded and pulled Baoshan into a hug, "Mnn."
"Oh," she was surprised by the sudden hug but she hugged me back quickly, "I take it you are feeling better."
I nodded and let more tears fall, "a little bit. I know I still have a long way to go, but I am feeling a bit better. Seeing them helped me."
"I am glad," she said and pulled out of the hug. She then held my face in her hands, "you are a good man, A'Ying, and you are strong. You can overcome anything as long as you have the strength and courage to fight it."
"I know," I said and turned to Lan Zhan who was working on his sword skills. I smirked and pulled out my own sword.
"Don't go to hard," Baoshan said.
"Why? I heard he's immortal now, and I know his skills are not to be taken lightly," I said and lunged towards Lan Zhan.
"Wei Ying?" He asked.
"That's Master Wei, to you Lan Er Gongzi," I said stalking towards him, "I may have been absent for some time but that does not mean I will go easy on my own disciple. Let's see if Baoshan taught anything in my absence."
"Are you sure you are okay with this?" Lan Zhan asked.
"Are you scared?" I asked, almost mocking him, "is Lan Er Gongzi not going to do as he is told?" Lan Zhan grinned at me and lunged at me. I blocked, "I think you can do better than that."
Lan Zhan growled and fought hard. His skills have improved greatly and I was proud of him. After a long time sparring, he and I went to go sit down and talk.
