Wei Ying was my master, and he was kind. He was very straightforward with what I had to do. I spent the last year just reading the basic rules of the cultivation world and beginners level of cultivation techniques, buddhist theory, and even the most basic of the six arts. It was a lot to take in but I managed without any complaints or issues.

The next type of training I was doing was something so different that I didn't even expect it. With just low cultivation, I am learning the basics of balance and endurance, as well as relearning my senses. During some of the training, I didn't realize that I was getting not only a bit tired, but agitated from all the falling as I was now blindfolded. One of the pillars broke and Wei Ying caught me instead of letting me land on the cold, hard, snowy ground.

I questioned why he did it but I should have known better. My questioning upset him. As his disciple, there is only so much pain he would allow me to endure, but also as his cultivation partner, he wouldn't want me hurt either. He hasn't spoken to me much since. He even went into seclusion for a few days. Baoshan took over to help me in the meantime, and when Wei Ying came out of seclusion, it was like he was consumed with resentment and pain.

He cut the tie between us again. I had no idea what was going on with him. This time, his tribulation was more powerful and it nearly cost him his life. His spiritual vein and core were severed and destroyed from the tribulation. Luckily Baoshan has a way to help him. She had him lay in a coma inside his cultivation chamber. There was no telling when he'd wake but she managed to mend his spiritual vein and gave him a new core. She had a silver core that was placed carefully away in a glass box.

"Do I want to know who's that is?" I asked.

"It was me who found A'Ying's parents bodies. They both still had their cores and even though they were dead, I could still retrieve them. I mended the two and merged them making them into a new silver core. I saved it for A'Ying if he ever did anything this stupid. So this core was his parents," she explained.

"He broke the tie between us again," I said, "he must have been upset over some of the things I said to him."

"A'Ying is suffering from a lot of emotional trauma," Baoshan said, "almost anything said can trigger him. So I do not want you to blame yourself for this. If you want to blame anyone, blame those bastards called The Jiangs."

"They have yet to be convicted for their actions towards Wei Ying," I said.

"They will get what's coming to them," she said.

"I have to ask, the only Jiang I know that he would not want harmed would be Jiang Yanli. She may be weak in terms of cultivation but she was always kind to him, as far as I know anyway," I explained.

"I will look into her," Baoshan said.

"My training?" I asked.

"It can still continue," she said, "we do not know when he will wake up, and I am sure that training will help distract you from what happened...and the tie, it will be fixed, it's just that, A'Ying needs to get his head together. He is just in so much pain and that pain mixed with the Yin Energy is what is making him act out more. It's the downside to being a Yin and Yang master."

"Is there a way, that next time the tie is mended, to keep him from getting it cut again?" I asked.

"There is, and I am actually tempted to teaching you how to do that," she told me.

"I do not want to lock him down to me but you and I both know, he does better with me when he has a clear head," I explained.

"He does," she said, "I will teach you how to keep it from breaking but it needs to reconnect again. It won't while A'Ying is like this."

"You said you do not know when he will wake, but do you have a guess?" I asked.

"I do not," she said, "the new core needs time to connect to him. It won't take too long as it was his parents but it still takes time. And his spiritual vein was just mended. His body has a lot of injuries so he needs to heal. While he is unconscious like this, I am going to give him small amounts of mood stabilizers so that when he wakes, he will have a more relaxed mind. He needs something to take that sorrow away. He just feels like he's a burden to everyone else and we need to convince him that he is not."

"All we can do is wait then," I said.

She nodded, "are you tired?" She asked, "I want you to rest for a couple days before we get back to your training...unless you want to go back to it sooner."

"I can get back to training in the morning, it is getting late," I told her, "am I still at the snow pillars?"

"Yes, you will have your sword with you tomorrow as you are ready for your next step," she said.

I nodded. She let me stay with him for a little while before I left for my own room. I wrote to Xiongzhang and explained to him what happened. I refrained from telling him about the tie breaking again because I do not know what he'd say. I don't want him saying anything negative about Wei Ying...not that I think he would, it's just that, I want Wei Ying to have some privacy. Just explaining that Wei Ying got hurt and I am training under Baoshan herself is good enough of an explanation.
