I wasn't expecting to sit down with Lan Xichen the following day but he said it was important. He and I have been butting heads for a while and I do think it is time to sit down and talk. He led me to his place, The Hanshi. I started to sense a theme between Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji.

"Is there a reason why you want me to meet you here?" I asked playfully.

"Would you prefer the Yashi? My house is a little further from the courtyard so it's a bit easier to have private conversations. Is there something wrong with meeting at my house?" He asked.

"No, it's just Lan Zhan took me to his house and now I am in yours. I am sensing a theme here," I said still being playful.

"Well, I won't do anything to you, Wangji, I make no promises," he said.

I stared at him a bit stunned by his words, "ahh?" I asked.

"You can sit down you know," Xichen pointed to the other side of the table.

I sat down across from him and pour myself some tea, "white tea?" I asked, "aged in your cellar for several years to get the proper taste your people prefer."

"You are quite knowledgeable in this," he said, "I imagine you have learned a lot of things."

"Mnn, yes, I have," I said, "but it was not easy."

"Are you able to talk about the training you went through?" He asked.

"Um, there are a lot of in-depth details that I cannot disclose but I can talk a small bit about it. I can tell you that when I started training under Baoshan, and Lan Zhan would end up doing the same I am sure, was start over from scratch. She has this orb that absorbs a person's energy. It absorbs a certain amount, up to the point to where it is as if a person formed their golden core for the first time. There is a lot of basic training that you must endure and there is a lot of history that he has to learn. It's a long process but it's worth it all. I say it is anyway. If you are persistent and believe in yourself, then it's a challenge a person can overcome," I answered.

"That sounds like a lot to endure, but Wangji is not someone who backs down, as he is always willing to take on something challenging," he said.

I nodded and stood up. I moved over to the nearest window, "I know, I believe in him...he is to become my disciple. I wouldn't have suggested he be my disciple if I did not think he could do it," I said looking at Xichen.

"I just have to ask you one thing," he said moving to stand beside me.

"Mnn," I replied with a nod.

"I just ask that he comes home safely?" He said, "that you will protect him if he needs it."

I nodded again, "I will, I can promise you that," I said and pulled out a white and green Xiao, I named, Yìngyù (Jadeite). I also have a black bamboo Dizi that I named Chenqing, "mind if I show you a cool trick?"

"You okay the Xiao?" He asked.

"I can play several instruments," I told him, "but I can teach you something that is easy to learn. I'm sure you'd like it."

"Okay," he agreed. (Got this idea from The Longest Promise because I thought it was really cool).

"Watch the sky," I told him. He looked up as I started to play. The clouds started to change shape. I made a dragon out of a cloud and had it look as if it was flying around. I glanced at Xichen and he looked intrigued. I then stopped playing, "it's a simple charm that can play with the air and change the shape of the clouds. I made the cloud into a dragon and had it fly. I thought of it as I played."

"A simple charm?" He asked, "you'd really teach me that?"

"Of course, it's something that you can play to calm your mind or even to try and impress your significant other," I told him.

"Have you done this for Wangji?" He asked.

"No, but I have plans to," I said, "is it true he likes rabbits?"

He smiled, "he does, and how did you come across this information?"

"I saw a rabbit drawing in the Jingshi when I was there. So I had to ask," I said.

"But yes, he likes them," he said. I nodded. I spent about half an hour teaching Xichen the charm to add to his music to enchant the clouds. He then tried it and he succeeded, "I have to say, you are going to be a good master for Wangji."

"That will be weird," I said, "I haven't thought about him calling me that...I just thought maybe he'd call me by my name."

"I guess that is something you can talk to him about," he said.

"Xichen, I do hope you know that I am sorry about hurting you four years ago. I was just so angry and filled with so much pain that I didn't care for anyone around me," I told him.

"I am not mad, Wuxian," he said, "knowing why you acted out, I can understand why you did it. I should have been a better sect leader and tried to help you but I didn't. I know now that even I have a lot to learn."

I nodded, "if there is a why I can make up for it though, then maybe it will help take the guilt away," I told him.

"I didn't know how much guilt you still have," he said, "a way you can compensate is for you to keep your promise about protecting my brother as best you can during his training."

"I will, just know there are some things that I cannot interfere with during his training but I will do everything I can to make him comfortable and secure. I will even write to you if want," I told him.

"I would actually like that if you can keep me updated on his progress," he said.

"Alright," I said.
