Chapter 9: Hiking
Nagisa's POV
I waited for Karma, sitting on a bench.
I'm wearing a blue dress that's just above my knees with a white cardigan on top of it. We were gonna hike up a mountain today, so I was wearing sneakers.
I also brought our lunches in our bag. We're going to eat on the peak later.
Why are we hiking up a mountain? Well... I don't know. We just thought it was a good idea in the season that it is, which is spring.
We went pretty late, so that we wouldn't have to wait long for the sunset when we're up there.
I can't believe that we've only went on one date. And that was before we even started dating.
"Nagisa!"
I saw Karma walking towards me. He was wearing a white shirt with a jacket and some jeans. "Sorry, did I make you wait long?" He asked.
"Nope! It's me who came too early." I laughed.
"Deja vu..." Karma said. "Well, let's go." He walked forward.
"Yeah!" I ran to him.
"You're right. Deja vu..." I laughed.
He chuckled as we walked.
-Time skip-
"This is the mountain we're gonna climb?" I asked as we stood on the foot of the mountain.
"Yep. It's not too high, but I heard the view up there is still great." He said as he looked at the map on the board.
"Plus, it's spring. So it won't be hot." He continued.
"And there aren't many people either." I said.
"Well, let's go." He said as he smiled.
I walked beside him and we started to walk up the mountain. There was a pathway going all the way up. Fences were aligned at our right side along the path.
The path was shades by the trees, but there were sunlight patches on the ground that went through the leaves.
The wind blew, making rustling sounds from the trees.
I looked up to see many sakura trees aligned at the sides of the path. The petals were falling, covering the ground as we walked.
We were getting higher and higher. I could see the town below getting smaller as we went up.
"This is really relaxing." I said as I looked at the town.
"It is." Karma smiled.
We kept walking.
Other people were going up as well. Kids were running up, shouting in front of the fence, hoping to create an echo.
It took a while, but we finally made it up.
I walked in front of the fence with Karma.
The mountain overlooked the whole town. There were clouds in the blue sky above it, and birds were flying.
"So this is the world we saved..." Karma said as he looked at the town.
I smiled, "Yeah. I'm sure he's proud of us."
We both thought of Korosensei.
"Well, let's eat~" Karma said as he pulled me.
I smiled, "Okay, okay." I opened my bag and took out the picnic blanket, spreading it on the ground near the fence.
He immediately took his shoes off and sat on it, eagerly waiting for the food.
I sat down with him and opened the bag. "I made bentos for both of us. I also packed some sandwiches and onigiri... Oh, and I also brought orange juice."
I brought everything out.
I gave him a bento and he opened it.
The bento was rice, seaweed, sausages, rolled egg, and some vegetables.
He took his chopsticks, "Thanks for the food!" And he dug in.
He blushed, "This is delicious~ Your cooking really is the best, Nagisa!" He said in a bright tone.
I smiled at him. "My mom says that I needed to learn how to cook. So she taught me at an early age." I explained.
"You would be a great wife!" He said. "My wife, of course~" He said teasingly.
"K-Karma!" I blushed. "But... I'm not against the idea..." My face was red.
He smiled at me.
I started eating too.
After we ate our bentos, we then waited to watch the sunset. We ate our sandwiches and onigiris while waiting.
"Hey, hey, Nagisa." Karma said. "Do you love me?"
I blushed hard. "W-what!?"
He smirked, "Just answer it~"
"Why ask if you already know the answer?" I asked.
"I need to hear you say it."
"Okay then." I smiled, "Yes, I do love you."
"A lot?"
"A whole lot."
"Until you die?"
"Until we both die."
His smile grew bigger. "I love you too! A whole lot, until we both die, even after that."
I smiled at him. "You can be really cheesy sometimes."
He hugged me and chuckled.
I hugged him back and smiled.
I looked at the sky in front of us. "Hey, look. The sunset is starting."
We stood up and looked at the sunset. The sky was a mixture of yellow, orange, and red. It was beautiful.
The shade of colors remind me of Karma's eyes.
I looked at him. He noticed this and looked at me. "What's wrong?" He smiled.
"Exactly the same."
"Nothing." I smiled too.
He held my chin, pulling me closer. He connected our lips, and we stayed like that for a few seconds. I blushed as he moved his hand to my cheek.
We pulled away, putting our foreheads to each other. He smiled, "I'm really lucky to have you, you know?"
I smiled, "Same here."
He hugged me, "I don't wanna go yet. I still want to be with you."
I put my head on his shoulder and hugged him back. "Then, how about we stay for the stars?"
"Okay!" He said happily.
We waited again.
The sun was soon replaced by the moon, and the stars soon came out. Lights and lanterns lit up around us to create lighting.
We looked at the moon.
Slowly, the crescent moon was crumbling into pieces. It's going to turn back like it was before, but of course that's going to take many years.
So for at least a decade, we're going to have a crumbled up moon.
We laid down on the picnic blanket and looked at the stars.
There were many many stars on the sky. They were all individually creating their own lights, but together they make something much more beautiful.
"Hey, hey, Nagisa!" Karma said. "Those ones look like Korosensei's smile!" He pointed at the sky.
"Where?" I asked, looking at where he's pointing.
It's true. They were aligned, making Koro-sensei's eyes and smile. We laughed as we looked at it.
We continued to find patterns and shapes in the sky.
Suddenly he put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him.
"Hey, Nagisa," Karma said as he looked at me. "Let's go on more dates from now on!"
I smiled, "Yeah, we should."
He wrapped his other arm around me. He whispered, "I love you."
"I love you too."
