Third Person View
The crackling sound of fire filled the summer night.
Circling the fire were the boys, grilling the fish that they caught earlier that day.
"What a strange feeling," Nagisa thought as she smiled.
"What's wrong, Shiota-san?" As if on cue, Nakano sat down beside the blue-haired girl.
The sudden presence of the girl startled Nagisa just a bit. "Ah, Nakano-san. I was just thinking..."
"I would be glad to lend an ear." The polite girl smiled.
Nagisa looked in her eyes. It really was just something dumb, she thought. But she wanted to tell her friends dumb things too, once in a while.
She looked at everyone.
"It's just that... They're all having so much fun. It just reminded me of when I was in middle school," She started.
"Before we knew it, we were already graduating. We went through some horrible situations, yet at the end of the day, we still smiled."
She thought back to her old friends. Rio, Kayano, Sugino, Okuda, Korosensei... and the rest of the class.
Nagisa looked up at the moon. "Of course I had some regrets those years... But time moved on too quickly, much too fast for me to keep up. The memories I made with everyone, wether it was sad moments, scary experiences, fun times... I held them close to my heart."
She smiled sheepishly at her, "I know it's childish, but I never wanted it to end. Maybe I'm feeling that way again right now, at this moment."
The girl next to her was a little surprised by her words. But smiled nonetheless. "I see. I feel the same way, Shiota-san. I had a blast these two years of high school. And that was mostly because of everyone here."
The two looked at the group. Iyo was shrieking to Nanashima and the other two about something. Something probably dumb, Nagisa thought, like maybe how the fish was staring at her even though it's already dead. Arisa and Chiyuki laughed at them.
"Everyone's smiles... I want to keep seeing them everyday. That's why..." Nakano stood up and reached a hand out to Nagisa.
"Let's have fun and make lots of memories together, Shiota-san!"
Nagisa looked at her hand before smiling and put her hand in hers. "Yeah!"
-Time skip-
It was a very sudden turn of events for Nagisa and her group the next morning.
Heavy rain poured down, strong wind accompanying it. The leaves on the palm trees shook vigorously as thunder blarred.
"A summer storm," Sasahara had said. "It'll pass by tomorrow. But still, that means we can't go out."
Nanashima layed his arms out. "Man, this sucks!"
Arisa took another bite of her pancake. "Oh well. I guess we can hang out here."
"Iyo suggests the game room!" Iyo raised her hand up, a butter knife still in her grip. "The perfect solution for this situation!"
"Wait a minute, what about Karma and Shiota-san and the others?" Igarashi spoke.
Arisa was about to ask "What about them?" before she realized something. "AH, that's right! They went to a nearby grocery store to buy snacks!"
Just as she said that, they heard the main door opening and closing. "We're back..." It sounded like Nagisa's voice.
Appearing before them were a drenched Karma, Nagisa, Chiyuki, and Nakano. "Um... we got rained on." The bluenette sarcastically pointed out.
"We didn't think it would hit so suddenly..." Nakano added while holding plastic bags.
"Senpai!" Iyo stood up and jogged towards them. "Look at you bunch! You must be freezing!"
Karma looked around the room, "Yeah, and the AC isn't helping, either."
"Iyo", Yamaguchi said from the table. "Prepare the baths."
"O-oh, right!" Iyo scurried along to find the butler and maid.
"Heeh, how awfully generous of you!" Karma smiled at Yamaguchi. "Didn't think a square person like you could be so kind."
His remark made a vein pop up in Yamaguchi's head.
Everyone sweat dropped. Chiyuki whispered in a low voice, "Even when he's all drenched and cold, he still has the spare energy to tease Yamaguchi-kun..."
"You got that right..."
Nagisa lightly hit him. "Karma!"
He stuck his tongue out.
"A-anyways, let's turn off the AC while we wait so you guys don't die of hypothermia..." Arisa switched the AC off.
"Your guys' breakfast are cold!" Hitomi pointed out.
"We can ask them to reheat it later, no worries." Shougo replied.
A little while has passed, and everyone had moved to the gaming room. Arisa hoped they would join them soon.
Of course, they thanked the four for buying the snacks.
The four waited. Even though the AC was off, the cold air still lingers. Around Nagisa's body was Karma's blazer that he had offered, but even with that she still felt cold.
"Um, Senpai," Iyo called them. "Two of the baths are ready."
"Thanks, Iyo," Nagisa looked at Nakano and Chiyuki. "You guys wanna go first?"
"E-eh? Is that okay?" Chiyuki hesitantly asked. "You look the coldest, Nagisa-chan!"
"I'm fine. I've been through worst!" Nagisa smiled.
A brief of silence, before the two headed upstairs. Nakano apologized and thanked them at the same time.
"Soo..." Karma said. "Did you want to be alone with me that badly, Nagisa-chan?"
His teasing voice made Nagisa's cheeks heat up. "I-it's not like that!"
The red-head let out a chuckle as he hugged her. "You're too nice, Nagisa. Here, let me warm you up!"
Nagisa stayed silent and put her hands on his arm. "...You're probably cold too, Karma." Even without looking at her face, Karma knew she was pouting by the sound of her voice.
"Oh, and..." He felt something soft against his cheeks for a second. "Th-thanks for your blazer.
It was his turn to blush now.
"D-did I do it right?" She said. "Arisa-chan said to give you a k-kiss on the cheek as a thank you for once... Or was it weird to you?"
"He'll be over the moon!" Her voice rang in Nagisa's head.
Karma found her oh so cute. Is this cute of a being actually allowed to exist in this universe?
"No, I'm happy, " Karma said, looking away so she doesn't see him blush.
"Ah, really?" Nagisa perked up. "Then maybe I should do it more!" She happily said.
The simplest things made her happy. She gets excited about small things. Karma found it adorable.
He gave her one last squeeze before letting her go.
They chatted for some time. Somthing random they thought up, or maybe about a weird encounter they had.
The moment was short, but it was enough to warm at least their hearts.
-Time skip-
Iyo trotted down the hallway with two towels in her arms. The towels were folded neatly, and they felt soft in her hands as she carried them.
"How could there be no towels in the bathroom? Poor Nagisa-senpai is going to catch a cold with her hair still wet..." She mumbled.
The blonde sighed, "Geez, Iyo wishes people think about others more..."
She passed through the hallway. Someone turned a corner.
It was Sasahara with a towel around his neck, drinking a bottle of tea.
Iyo froze on the spot.
"Oh, what a terrible situation this is! Why does God have us meet like this alone!?"
Her face unexpectedly turned red. Sasahara eyed her as she lowered her gaze to the ground.
Unfortunately, the stack of towels weren't high enough to smother her face in, so she turned her head completely downwards.
As they passed by, Iyo quickly scurried along, not giving the jet-black haired boy a glance.
Sasahara looked behind and watched as she turned the corner. He let out a quick sigh before continuing drinking.
Iyo hurried into the living room, where Nagisa was waiting on the couch for a towel. "S-senpai!"
"Ah, Iyo-chan," Nagisa turned to her. "Sorry to have you do this... Hm?" Nagisa eyed her.
"Did you run all the way here, Iyo? Your face is red." Nagisa took one of the towels.
"Not at all!" Iyo blurted. "Iyo just... had an unwanted encounter."
"Is that so? Well, all right." Nagisa started drying her hair. "Thank you, Iyo-chan."
"You're welcome," Iyo answered. She went away, embarrassed that the bluenette noticed her face flushed.
She kept walking.
Ever since that day Sasahara... did what he did, Iyo has been wary of his presence. She doesn't know why, but whenever she sees him, she panics and doesn't know what to do.
It wasn't because she has feelings for him or anything... But it was the fact of knowing that he likes her. It made her... weird.
"AHH, Iyo doesn't even know anymore!!" She stomped on the ground as she walked, chanting "nope" over and over.
Her brother was walking in the other direction, passing her by. He saw his sister's faced all tensed up, eyes closed, and saying "Nopenopenopenopenope..." Her voice became smaller as she walked further away, not bothering to give attention to her older brother.
Yamaguchi eyed her. It was as if she was the weirdest thing he has ever seen. He continued his walk towards the kitchen, about to grab a cup of coffee.
Some might say coffee is bad for your health, but to Yamaguchi it was a comfy drink whenever he's doing anything.
On his way to the kitchen, he passed by the couch in the loving room. There was Nagisa sitting there. He couldn't exactly see her face, because the couch was facing the other way.
She had a towel around her neck. Her hair was wet and let loose. He had a feeling her being barefoot wasn't a good idea to fight the cold, even if she was on a carpet.
Nagisa lofted up her hand, and she brushed a finger to her face. He heard sniffling, as if she was... crying.
Initiatively, he walked closer to her, wrapping his arms around her neck.
He felt her jump a little. "Y-Y-Yamaguchi-kun?" She turned her face at him.
He saw that she wasn't crying. "Sorry, I thought you were crying. So I automatically..."
"N-no... It was cold with the AC on and all, so I j-just started sniffling..." Nagisa's face turned red, as his face was so close, their foreheads were basically touching.
Yamaguchi stayed in that position for a few more seconds before letting go.
Nagisa was still caught off guard. "His warmth is gone... I could smell his scent from the distance we were at..."
"Hey, Shiota-san," Yamaguchi started. "Since we're going home tomorrow, do you want to go out the day after it?"
Nagisa looked up at him. Those eyes, full of determination. She had kept him waiting for so long. He waited, but she never gave him a clear answer.
They can't talk at school because they're always busy with friends, and mo way they can talk here. So going out was their only option.
"...Yes."
