Chapter 12

Gajeel P.O.V.

I was still in the waiting room when Lily arrived with Lucy. "Any news?" Lucy asked, trying not to sob. "Levy is still in surgery and the baby is in the nicu." I mumbled. Lucy sat beside me and put a hand on my shoulder. "She will be ok, she's Levy after all." She sounded like she was trying to convince herself as well as me. Lily handed me a clean shirt from home and I realized mine had blood on it. I went and changed and when I came back the doctor was waiting on me.

"How is she doc?" I asked, afraid to hear the answer. He sighed sadly. "She's in rough shape Redfox. The bone in her leg was shattered, and it seems like it was that way for a few months. It started to heal wrong so we had to reset it. A bone in her arm was fractured and she has a mild concussion. On top of all of that she has lost more than half her weight from malnutrition along with carrying the baby. We have put her in a medically induced coma. It will help her with the pain and to heal. Once she has healed enough we will reverse it, then it's up to her to wake up." he said.

I felt like my heart was being torn to shreds and I had to sit back down. I clasped my hands together to keep them from shaking. Lily out his hand on my shoulder and Lucy was trying not to cry. "Can I see her?" I asked, my voice weak. The doctor nodded and I stood up,following him.

I was frozen in the door way when the doctor left me. They had cleaned her up, there was no more blood in her hair and she was no longer covered in grime. Her leg was in a thick cast and so was her right arm. Her face was thin and boney, an oxygen mask on her face. I sat heavily beside her and took her small frail hand in mine. I didn't care about the moisture running down my face as I held her hand. "I'm so sorry Levy," I choked out. I sat there for a long time, only the sounds of her monitors filled the silence. A nurse walked in, rolling a small cart with an incubator on it. She stopped beside me before leaving. I looked into the small case and again I felt broken. The baby was so small, just like her mother. She had a head full of blue hair and when she looked at me I could see my own crimson eyes staring at me.

She reached a small hand out and made a cooing sound. I opened the side, it was just big enough for my hand. She grasped my finger and I couldn't help but smile a little. "Quiet a grip for someone so small," I said gruffly. She made more cooing sounds for awhile before she yawned and fell asleep. "Have you thought of a name for her?" A voice asked, scaring the crap out of me. I turned to see Lily in the door. "I was thinking Aurora." He smiled and nodded. "I'm sure Levy will love it." I smiled sadly. She will love it, as soon as she wakes up.

I walked into the hospital, greeting the nurses as I went. Levy was still asleep, even though they reversed her coma three weeks ago. I knew she would wake up when she was ready. I walked into her room where a nurse was checking on her. "Morning Mr.Redfox. They just took Aurora to feed her." I nodded. Aurora had been doing fantastic and would get to come home today.

Once she was done checking on Levy I sat beside her, taking her hand again. She had put on some weight finally and her arm was better. I sat holding her hand for a long time before balling asleep by her bed.

Levy P.O.V.

I felt numb all over but thankfully, nothing hurt. My world was dark and silent, I wasn't sure for how long. The first thing that came back was sound. A very annoying beeping sound. Next was feeling. My legs felt heavy and there was something warm around my left hand. Memories came flooding back and I remembered about my baby. I vaguely remember the sounds of shouting and gunfire before everything went black. 'Come on Redfox, wake up!' I yelled at myself.

I forced my eyes to open and was met with a blinding light. I groaned lightly and closed my eyes again. No, open! I opened them again and this time the light wasn't so bad. I glanced around and realized I was in a hospital. I looked to the warmth around my hand and smiled, realized it was Gajeels large hand. He was sleeping, his head laid on the side of my bed. I used my free hand to brush some hair out of his face, causing him to stir.

He opened his eyes, and locked with mine. He quickly sat up and carefully pulled me into his arms. "Thank god your awake!" He cried softly. I smiled, feeling my eyes water as I wrapped my arms around him. I missed this. His warmth, his voice, those beautiful eyes. I cried quietly into his shoulder as he held me tight. As I calmed down I remember something even more important. "The baby?" I asked softly, almost afraid. He smiled and before he could answer, a nurse came in, wheeling a small cart.

"Oh Mrs.Redfox! It's so good to see you awake. Your daughter is doing just fine." She said with a smile. Gajeel gently laid me down and went to the cart. "I'm going to get the doctor." She said before leaving. Gajeel picked up a small pink bundle and sat on the edge of my bed. He held her so I could see her. Blue hair and red eyes met me and I felt like crying again. "Her names Aurora... If that's alright?" He asked quietly. I smiled. "It's perfect."
