Trapped.
Hey! For the record, I got way too tired of having to put the POV it is, so from now on I'm sticking with 3rd person, and not going to be labeling it anymore. Terribly sorry! Also, we didn't quite make it to 75 votes before midnight, but we made it to 69, and that's obviously better (me not even getting the joke but using it anyways I guess. Pls explain what it means!) Think we can shoot for 5 votes JUST on this chapter? Well lets hope so, because I'm leaving you on a cliffhanger, and that's the next challenge! Thanks!
In the desolate monochrome wasteland, Will found himself alone. Panic clawed at his throat as he searched for Nico, but the familiar figure was nowhere to be seen. The oppressive silence was broken only by the echo of his own ragged breaths.
Suddenly, Nico materialized before him, but something was terribly wrong. His eyes, usually filled with warmth and mischief, were cold and distant, filled with a deep-seated pain Will had never witnessed before.
"Will," Nico said, his voice laced with icy disdain. "Finally alone, just like I always knew you'd leave me."
Will's heart stuttered. "Nico, what's wrong? This isn't you."
But Nico's face remained impassive. "Isn't it? You always abandon me in the end. Just like my father, just like Bianca."
A wave of understanding, laced with agonizing guilt, washed over Will. Nico's past trauma, his fear of abandonment, was twisting their reality. This wasn't about Will at all, but about the deep wounds Nico carried.
"Nico, please," Will pleaded, his voice trembling with emotion. "I would never leave you willingly. You know that."
"Don't lie to me!" Nico's voice cracked, revealing the vulnerability masked by anger. "Every time you leave this cabin, every time you're with someone else, it feels like another goodbye."
Will stepped forward, reaching out tentatively. "Nico, let me in. Let me understand your pain. We can face it together."
But Nico flinched away, his eyes flashing with fear. "Don't touch me! You'll just leave again."
Will felt a tear roll down his cheek, his heart aching for Nico's pain. He knew words wouldn't be enough. He needed to show him, not just tell him.
Hesitantly, Will sat down, leaving enough space between them for Nico's comfort. He closed his eyes, focusing on his connection to Nico, the love that bound them like an invisible thread. He sent Nico a wave of calming energy, hoping it would pierce through the walls of fear.
Slowly, cautiously, Nico approached. He sat down opposite Will, the tension around him easing slightly. The silence held a new weight, thick with unspoken emotions.
Then, Nico spoke, his voice barely a whisper. "Tell me you won't leave."
Will met his gaze, his sincerity unwavering. "I promise, Nico. I will never leave you by choice. You are my anchor, my sunshine, and I am here for you, always."
Then, just as they kissed, a baseball bat slammed into the back of Will's head.
Fear snaked around Will's ankles, dragging him into a monochrome wasteland. Panic clawed at his throat as he searched for color, any spark of life in the oppressive grey. Then he saw him, a lone figure against the desolate landscape. Nico. But a Nico he didn't recognize.
"Nico?" Will's voice felt ragged, the word echoing emptily in the silent world.
Nico turned, his usually vibrant eyes shadowed and hollow. "Will," he said, but the name was devoid of warmth, a stranger's greeting.
Fear, cold and sharp, bloomed in Will's chest. "Where are we? What's happening?"
Nico remained silent, his gaze distant. "You brought us here," he finally said, his voice like the rustle of dead leaves.
"Me?" Will's voice cracked. "But how?"
"You chose this," Nico continued, each word a shard of ice. "You chose pain."
Will stumbled back, disbelief mingling with terror. "No, that's not true! Nico, please..."
But Nico was already turning away, fading into the grey like a wisp of smoke. "Goodbye, Will."
"Wait!" Will screamed, the sound swallowed by the suffocating silence. He ran, desperation fueling his steps, but Nico remained just out of reach, a cruel mirage receding further with each desperate lunge.
Will tripped, hands scraping the rough ground. He looked up, tears blurring his vision, to see Nico finally disappear into the nothingness. A desolate howl ripped from his throat, echoing through the emptiness.
Then, the scene shifted. Will was, once again, back in Cupid's familiar dark passage. Nico had told him all about this place, and how much it hurt him. So... Will may or may not have come here once to confront Cupid on behalf of his "friend."
Nico stood across from him, his smile replaced by a cold indifference. The air crackled with unspoken accusations, fueled by a past event that gnawed at both their hearts.
Then, Nico lunged at him, sword in hand, and Will panicked, ducking down low, but it was too late.
"But Nico... you said... you said you loved me...?"
"I never said that. I said I would marry you. I wanted to take you out for a test run, to see if you were worthy. Nothing more."
"So... am I?"
"Absolutely not." Nico replied, harshly. "The only one ever worthy of me was Bianca, and she was my sister, but ended up leaving me anyways." Will could hear a hint of sadness in his voice, and forcefully wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist. Nico tried to scramble away, or hurt him, but he had dropped his sword, and was not near strong as Will.
"This isn't you." Will said, and picked up the dagger from his pocket Nico had told him to use if anyone gave him crap about being bi.
That was... the old Nico, gave it to him. Like he said. This wasn't him. Will raised the blade high above his head, and stabbed Nico right in his right pulmonary artery, killing him for the last time.
