But it wasn't an act. It was an abyss, a bottomless pit of regret swallowing him whole. Memories flickered on the periphery, fragments of a past he couldn't grasp. A blade, cold and unforgiving, inches from his own throat. Then... darkness. Silence. Nothing.

Then, Will's eyes fluttered open.

"What am I... why am I in the infirmary in one of the beds?" Will asked, trying to push himself out of bed. "I should be helping patients!"

"I... I'm your boyfriend, or something like that," Nico started. "And I just wanted to say I'm really sorry for acting the way I did. I wasn't thinking straight, or, if you like puns, I guess you could say I wasn't thinking gay, but I realized why I must've been so madly in love with you."

"What...? Who's this?" Will asked, turning to Kayla and Austin.

"I mean, kind of the guy who just saved your life..." Austin responded.

"I... don't remember him..." Will responded.

"Great! I don't either, Will!" Nico exclaimed.

"The world is kind of messed up, right?" Kayla agreed, then said to Will, "Well, so is this situation: You got stabbed because of some homophobic, and then Nico saved your life by nearly sacrificing his. He got amnesia, and you were so upset that you..."

"What? What did I do?" Will asks, confused.

"Tried to off yourself..."

Will gasped, then quickly got up, made the cot, and ran out of the room.

"Wait... what just happened?" Kayla and Austin asked in unison.

"I think Will just... escaped..." Nico spoke, laughing. "I'll go find him."

I see Will's golden blonde hair in the distance and run towards it. Only it isn't Will's golden blonde hair. It's something much, much worse...

I must be Rick Riordan writing the first two books of The Heroes of Olympus. Can't think of anything else, so why not make our other lead character also have memory loss, huh? Just... Why not? I'm also just as big of a troll as him...
