~ i want to be happy ~
Name
Brooklyn "Brook" Eastwood
Age
Sixteen
Gender
Female
Sexuality
Lesbian
Height
5'2"
Build
Though short in stature, Brook has a broad and muscular build. She has a wide bone structure (broad shoulders and hips) and a lot of muscle on her body. She is toned and muscular from frequent visits to the gym.
Personality
Brook is an odd mix of personality traits that don't work well together. She wishes to be happy and never wants to get mad at someone, because she likes it when people are happy, but she's quick to irritate and quick to anger at the smallest things. She broods over things that could have happened long ago as if they were events that occurred within minutes. She tries to keep her emotions bottled up so she can enjoy things like being with her family, but it usually just means that when she has an outburst, it's big. She's very anxious, high strung, and worried all the time, but rather than sitting down and working through those feelings she takes it out on people, particularly when she sneaks out at night and gets in fights.
Likes
Her family
Though she's pretty sure her family doesn't think she loves them all the time, she does, every single waking moment she loves her family. She likes being around them, she likes hearing them laugh, she likes being with them.
Dogs (any animal really)
It's no secret that Brook likes animals, she plays with the family dog all the time and tends to take them with her when she goes on jogs. She watches cat videos sometimes to cheer herself up and has never been one to shy away from any pet she has met.
Books
It's usually a surprise to people that Brook, who tends to be rash and violent (particularly in school) is a book worm. She loves reading, and she thinks of it like escaping to another world even just for a short time.
Video games
Another oddity is that the book-worm enjoys video games just as much as books. She likes exploration games and FPS games the most, but sometimes enjoys idle games when she is in the mood for one
Naps
Sort of like when she reads, she enjoys sleeping a little too much, she sees it as a break from reality. It should probably be a little concerning.
Being Alone
Brook enjoys her own company, she quickly gets anxious in social situations and thus prefers, and likes, being alone. It gives her time to think and work through things on her own.
Quiet
For a similar reason as the last, brook likes peace and quiet because she's quickly overwhelmed. In a sensory sense she gets panicky and a bit off when there are too many noises, and not a particular one for her ears to catch into and listen to the whole time. This is particularly bad at parties and sports events.
Nature
It's a bit odd to see a girl like Brook enjoying nature over, say, having a hook-up with a random girl, but she does. She likes the fact that in nature it's both quiet and she's alone. She likes the smell of forests too.
Dislikes
Her birth family
(See backstory for more details) Her birth family was horrible to her, and considering she wasn't adopted by the Eastwood couple until she was old enough to still remember her birth family, she won't forget them. She also dislikes when people bring it up, whether it's a counselor, classmate, or even her adoptive family.
Loud/crowded places
Due to her anxiety she gets overwhelmed easily by large crowds and lots of noise. There isn't anything more to this dislike.
Being yelled at
Any child will get yelled at by their parents at some point in their life, and Brook knows that, but it makes her super anxious and angry. It makes her feel like she's not good enough for her family.
Being dismissed
Her birth parents were very dismissive (negligent) of the girl in every way, and that translates into an insecurity in the girl now. She feels almost abandoned when she's dismissed or ignored, even if she knows that's not the case.
Being forced to go to events
This is due to her anxiety and just dislike of being told what to do. She has authority problems.
Parties
Another one due to her anxiety, however she still frequently forces herself to go to parties so people don't think she's just a druggie and a drop-out.
Backstory
Brook was an accident; if you went to either of the prisons her parents are at they would tell you that without hesitation. Because she was such a complete and utter accident her parents didn't really see her as more than just an inconvenience.
They were very negligent of the infant, barely keeping her healthy and alive. She was never paid attention to as she grew into her toddler years, never potty trained or taught how to brush her teeth.
At age four she was forced to watch her parents have sex in the living room after she went to tell them the tv stopped working again.
At age five she was turned away from kindergarten because her parents didn't have enough money to pay the fees for her to stay there. They started beating her worse around this time, furious that she was costing them money and time.
At age seven police raided the home, arresting her parents for drug dealing charges and illegal weapons ownership. They found Brooklyn on the floor of the living room where she'd made a little nest for herself out of blankets and a pillow. She was sickly and malnourished.
Almost instantly she was taking from her parents, who were sent to jail and charged with:
Possession with intent to sell (cocaine)
Possession with intent to sell (meth)
Possession of unregistered/illegal weapons
Willful child neglect
Willful child abuse
3rd degree sexual assault
The police department actually reached out to the Eastwood family, asking that they take in the young girl. They briefed the men on what the girl had been through and explained that the department would help cover any dental and medical costs that would arise as a result of her birth parent's negligence.
When they got her she was a quiet girl, incredibly malnourished, and still wore pull-ups because she'd never been potty trained, and she still had fresh bruises from her birth family. Her first dentist appointment uncovered 15 cavities as a result of improper nutrition and hygiene. Her doctors appointment revealed what everyone already knew, she was severely underweight, her growth was a stunted (due to improper nutrition), and she had rashes on her inner legs from a failure on her birth-parents part to change her pull-ups.
She was quick to adjust, though, to what it felt like to have s family that cared. She was potty-trained quickly, she learned how to read on a very basic level pretty quick (though her reading is still grossly sub-par for her age), and she slowly became more social.
Problems started showing up around her twelfth birthday, when she got sent home from school for beating up another kid. Slowly issues similar to that kept springing up, and she got held back in middle school because the number of suspensions she got prevented her from moving on. She learned quickly not to fight in schools and took to sneaking out of the house to do it in the streets at night, and she got pretty good.
At the moment she makes money street fighting, refuses to get a job, and is being told by the high school that they might have to hold her back another year if she doesn't get her grades up.
