The Weakness of One, Strength of a Few
"Sabrina, get her a bedroom! I can't have her crying all over my expensive rug!" Chloe screeched at Sabrina, and turned her swivel chair away from Marianne.
Marianne, meanwhile, switched between shallow and deep breaths, trying to recover from the painful vision. Or was it memory? No, it was most likely a vision. To her, everything else happened in a haze. Being lifted by someone, carried to a strange room, placed in an unfamiliar bed, and passing out.
Chloe, on the other hand decided to make a phone call.
"Hello? AirFrance?"
"Mrs. Bourgeois! A pleasure to speak to you, madam! What can we do for you?"
"I would like to reserve 2 plane tickets for Los Angeles, California. And make sure Uber is waiting for them at the airport to take them to daddy's mansion."
"Them, madam?"
"Right, I almost forgot. You will be transporting Louis Agreste and Eva Lahiffe. Oh, and make sure they fly first class and have return tickets for the 24th."
"Is that all for now?"
"Yes, put the bill on my account."
"Will do, madam. Thank you for calling AirFrance!"
"Yeah, good bye!"
It was the 10th today, which means Louis and Eva will be gone for 2 weeks. Why exactly is Chloe doing this? What could she possibly want with that? So many questions, too little answers.
In prison
" Well then, kids. You better have a damn good explanation for what just happened. You know I hate misusing my power." Roger looked at Marinette, Adrien, Nino and Alya with a stern look, the light from his desk lamp illuminating his badge and glasses. Adrien sent him a friendly grin, while Mari twiddled her fingers. Alya groaned, aching to get home.
"A Serpentine soldier has reappeared. The thing is, it is someone we know, and care deeply about. We needed to create a distraction so the citizens or our elder children get entertained, while keeping the truth away from harmful hands. No one must know any of this happened." Nino replied with a cool, calm tone, totally uncharacteristic of him. Alya took his hand in hers with a smile, knowing that Nino is taking his new role of kwami Guardian very seriously.
"Very well. What's your evidence that this is so dangerous? I can't sweep this under the rug without concrete evidence." Roger continued, as if not really registering what Nino just said. Adrien sighed, and stepped forward.
"Roger, remember that night 15 years ago, when the Kwami Hunter died?"
15 years ago, at the Serpentine mansion ruins
"Help! Someone help!" A voice called from the ruins, strained and dry. Chloe and Alya heard the shouting, so they rushed towards the rubble, and started digging. The voice grew closer, until finally, an arm surfaced out of the sea of rubble. Both girls struggled to lift the heavy man out of the rubble, but eventually lifted Roger into safety.
"Oh thank you! Thank you girls!" Roger smiled at them gratefully, just happy to be alive.
"No problem, officer! Just wait a second, I'll call your daughter to pick you up." Alya replied as she went searching for her phone. Meanwhile, Chloe didn't budge, and kept her gaze focused in one direction. Roger followed her gaze, until he spotted something disturbing.
This giant snake tattoo thing, shaking violently and cracking into pieces on Adrien's skin.
back to present day
"Of course I do, it's not a sight to forget." Roger replied grumpily. Adrien looked at him with a stern look, vaguely reminding Roger of his father's serious posture. He extended his arm, and there it was, on his hand. A vague line, and yet so clear, moving ever so slightly. The disgusting creature looked up at Roger with a nasty grin and a wink.
Roger quickly pulled his chair back and waved a hand at them, but not before handing them their release forms and fines for destroying public property. Hey, he had to give them some sort of punishment for destroying a good portion of Tulip and Maupassant street. Chloe will pay for it anyways.
With Marianne
"Ah! The pigs are alive!" Marianne woke up from her nap with that famous saying in front of Chloe's butler.
"Indeed they are, Miss Agreste. Please follow me, Mrs. Bourgeois is waiting for you." He said with a raised eyebrow. The butler is an older man, with gray hairs scattered throughout his slicked back black hair and mustache. His chocolate brown eyes held discipline and strictness in his eyes, but you could see the slight amusement flickering here and there. Marianne spent another 30 seconds staring at his well tailored suit before quickly climbing out of bed and walking after him.
She was still processing what happened earlier, so she barely registered bumping into corners and door frames. How big is this place anyways?
What's going on here? Ever since she came back, so many things have gone wrong. Is she the problem? What if she's hurting her family? Her parents certainly had such a happy life before they had her. They are so creative, loving, funny. So...humane. Marianne held the rim of the shirt and bit her lower lip. She is destroying her family's lives, is it because of Spotty Bane? No, Spotty Bane is good, especially to her. He told her about her mother and father when she missed them, he comforted her when she had those horrible nightmares, he helped her stay focused when she trained with Master Fu. So that only leaves her. She knew it. She knew that she would be trouble! Oh God, why did her parents even have her?!
Her dark thoughts prevented her from seeing a different type of obstacle blocking her way. Only when she felt pain spreading through her nose, and a warmth coming from her lower back, did she realize the fabric in front of her was in fact a T-shirt. She looked up, ready to blurt out an apology, when her breath got caught in her throat. She found herself in the arms of a man who could only be described as a god. Tall, not too muscular, but still had enough to impress. A mop of silvery-blonde hair framed his refined face, falling all the way down to his prominent cheek bones. Two thin pink lips curled up in a small smile, as his forest green eyes warmly gazed into her own. His skin was a bit pale, except on his cheeks, where it slowly turned into a pink shade, adorned with a few freckles on each side.
Marianne couldn't help but stare like a fool at his face, mouth agape and a face like she just experienced a Windows system crash in her head. When she finally tore her eyes away from his face, did she realize in what position she was in. Her hands were gripping his shirt, while his were on her lower back, cradling it gently. She was slightly leaned backwards, while he was slightly leaned forward. Her hair cascaded towards the floor, while his framed his face. Finally, her face was pink with a reddish tint, looking very flushed, while his was slowly turning pink as well, the gears in his head slowly turning. They looked like they were kissing just a moment before!
They quickly split and tried not to look awkward as words stumbled in between them, none coherent. This continued on until the butler cleared his throat, acting as if he didn't see the awkward exchange. Marianne jumped back onto the stranger, who just shouted in surprise and fell down with her on top of him. He groaned and rubbed the back of his head.
"Ugh... Hey Alberto. I guess this young lady is with you?" He looked at the butler with an apologetic look, while the butler just nodded.
"Yes, young Sir. Now excuse us, we have to go. You know that Mrs.Bourgeois is not a patient person."
Marianne registered only one thing in that short conversation: His voice is hot. Before she could even react, she was already pulled away from the man, who just waved with a small smile as they rounded a corner. She quickly got bearing under her feet and released herself from Alberto's grip. He shot her a look and knocked on a pair of mahogany black door.
"Um...Mr.Alberto, who was that man?" she asked while they waited for a response.
"That is not something for you to know, Miss." He replied coldly.
"Rude." She muttered to him, while he, again, didn't react. Silence spread through the hallway as the black door didn't budge. After some time, Alberto knocked again. This time the door opened to reveal a small ballroom, with 2 classical style chairs in the middle, and a white table in between them. On the chair to the left, sat Chloe, in an older style black gown that probably costed more than Marianne's house.
(here's the dress!)
Chloe looked at them with a shadowed look, before muttering:
"Alberto, bring her number 15." Alberto quickly bowed and left the room. Chloe smirked and stood up, her blonde hair cascading down her side. She looked incredibly beautiful, but something is off.
Marianne tried to ask Spotty about it, but for some reason she couldn't reach him. Chloe walked to her, the sound of heels clicking against the marble floors filling Marianne's ears. Once she reached Marianne, she put her hands on her forearms and smiled.
"I see you have recovered from that little unfortunate fit. don't worry, everyone has them. Your mother is famous for having them. I must say, I thought Master Fu finished his training with you. Oh well, maybe you weren't ready." Chloe shrugged and kept her gaze on Marianne's eyes.
"H-how do you know we haven't finished training? I didn't tell anyone!" Marianne said in a panicked voice, as if it was some sort of embarrassment.
"Oh, of course I would know that! I am your new Master trainer. I will finish what Fu started." Chloe said in a booming voice as she bowed down in front of Marianne. Marianne took a nervous step back, and carefully asked:
"But why would you be? what's special about you, madame?"
Chloe smirked, and stepped back. She opened her palms and spoke:
" Why, I am a holder of two kwamis. Marianne, meet my bee kwami Pollen, and my peacock kwami Duusu." And just like that, the two mentioned kwamis appeared on her palms, and danced around Marianne for a little before greeting Chloe and going through the wall. Marianne gaped at this, she never thought anyone was powerful enough to carry two kwamis! That means Chloe is even more powerful then her parents! She must be speaking the truth.
Marianne nodded and got down on one knee.
"I promise to keep my loyalty to you, to follow and fulfill your every command, to protect my teachings and the secrets they keep from harm's way. I greet you as my new teacher, Guardian of the Miraculous, Master Chloe."
Chloe stepped in front of her, put her hand on her head and replied:
" I, Master Chloe, promise to teach you all you need to know, to finish the training of your previous Masters, to prevent you from straying from your teachings, and to keep your mind and body safe."
Marianne smiled, and stood up, when a knock was heard on the door. Chloe muttered a 'come in' to the person, and Alberto walked in with a stunning violet dress, which Marianne couldn't help but gasp at.
(and here is this pretty dress!)
"Marianne, I feel this would be an appropriate uniform for your lessons, sturdy yet elegant. take it with you, and you may go now. We start tomorrow." Chloe spoke as she sat back on her chair.
Marianne smiled brightly at the beautiful thing, and replied:
" Good bye, Master! See you tomorrow!"
"See you tomorrow, young one." A shadow that now sat on the chair right from the table replied as Marianne closed the door.
################################
I cannot stress this enough. I am an idiot. Why, you may ask? Simply because, I first forget to update, then I break my phone on the 18th, and have to pretend like I still have it even though I was using a tablet from the year 2009, which I made sure to throw away after I got my phone back yesterday. Karma really doesn't like me. Anyways, let's try to get back to some form of a schedule of updates, ok?
Welp, I'll see ya then!
