Chapter 51 - Being Kidnapped by Aliens is Never Fun
Opening her eyes, Sky was blinded by the lights around. Oh, so she's still alive. A bit surprising.
Looking around they spotted Raph just to their right, trapped in Kraang goop.
"Look at it." Kraang sister's voice rang throughout the whole room, as she approached Raph and tilted his head with her tentacle to see him better. "Disgusting."
"Try lookin' in a mirror!" The turtle responded with a smirk. A bit of a faux pas.
"It's talking at me." Kraang #2 commented, unbothered by the insult. "I'm going to rip out its tongue." She smiled.
"Forgive my sister. She's got a bit of a temper." Ah, yes, the main antagonist of this movie showed up in the room and his siblings were already bowing to him. Not sure that's how sibling relationships should look like.
Raph got lowered to the floor by the sentient goop, into an almost kneeling position.
"You're... not human. What are you?" Kraang #1 asked, lifting Raph's head to take a better look at him.
"Let me go and I'll show you." Raph growled. Another bad idea.
Kraang #1 just scoffed and turned to Sky, making her panic a bit. She usually wasn't a part of this scene.
"And you?"
"Does it really matter? You'll find a way to make me your slave either way." She pointed out, making her captor smile with pride. Of course. Flattery works almost every time. Kraang #1 turned to see both of his prisoners.
"But, tell me. You're more powerful than the people of this planet, yet you defend them. Why?" It was a simple question.
"It's my duty." Sky felt like Raph's response wasn't the right one. It didn't capture the real reason.
Kraang #1 turned to Sky, clearly expecting a better one. "Humans are aggressively social creatures who easily connect to one another. He and his siblings are connected to other people by 'empathy'. And I like them a bit too much to let them fight alone." Sky hoped this was enough. Was it true? Absolutely.
They really hoped that Kraang #1 took the response for what it was trying to be. A sign that Sky's allegiance wasn't to all humans, but to the turtles and that she will be easier to pit against New Yorkers. She really hoped that this response would satisfy the Kraang.
Another smirk from Kraang #1.
He turned and started walking away, monologuing. "Good. This planet will soon be consumed by the Kraang. Our glorious crusade continues to restore the natural order of things. The strong will devour the weak."
Sky silently prayed to whatever god might hear that Raph isn't gonna try and trash talk the Kraang.
"Last I checked we weren't the ones locked in a prison dimension for a thousand years." Raph's voice cut through the air like an arrow and made Sky's heart almost stop.
How could he be so foolish? To be at someone's mercy and still poke fun at them? That's exactly what gets you thrown into the brig.
Kraang #1 would've snapped his neck, if he had any, with the speed he looked back at the turtle.
"Yeah, that's called trash talk." Raph smirked and Sky silently prayed she was not gonna be held accountable for that.
"A rare misstep." The ice cold spilling from those words made Sky shiver. She had to somehow fix it. Fix the Kraang's mood. Fix the situation she and Raph were currently in.
"Once I retrieve the key from your comrades, I will bring forth the mighty Technodrome, and you will witness the true power of the Kraang." Kraang #1 has stepped closer to the two prisoners. He was smiling, but smiling with disgust and confidence. It made Sky's stomach turn and twist in many unpleasant ways. She had to fix it.
"Now. Where have they taken my key?"
Before Raph could, once again, upset their captor even more and make their situation worse, Sky blurted out. "To the sewers. An abandoned train station underground."
Raph looked at her like she was the most insane person ever, while Kraang #1 smirked, satisfied.
-
"They're on the move." Donnie reported. "According to the subcutaneous trackers I put on Raph and Sky-" They tried to continue, but Leo cut them off.
"Wait, does that mean you put trackers on all of us?" Would his twin actually be unhinged enough to do that? And not even tell their brothers? For what?
"No...? No. Of course I did... n't!" DonTron, unsurprisingly, couldn't lie their way out of this. So Leo's twin really did put trackers on all of them. Great. Now they are going to have a talk about privacy.
"Based on their trajectory, they're headed to the Metro Tower." Right. Raph.
"The tallest building in the city." Casey said suddenly, with a haunting tone of voice. "I heard the story so many times as a kid..."
"And behold, from their perch atop New York city the Kraang ripped open the sky itself. What came out was terror and what rained down upon us was fate worse than death."
That vision was terrifying.
"They told that to kids?! Man, the future is harsh." Yeah, Miguel summed it up pretty well.
But they couldn't focus on that right now. They had a mission: Save Raph (and Sky) and couldn't get sidetracked. he was not gonna let that happen.
None of what Casey just described.
"Well, I'm not gonna let that happen. We need to get into Metro Tower without being spotted - we'll take the subway tunnels." He commanded.
"Subway tunnels don't offer much in the way of an escape if we need it." Donnie informed. But they had to get into the building, not retreat. Leo said it before and wasn't afraid to repeat it. We don't retreat.
"Are you sure about this?" Of course he was sure. There was no turning back.
"Yes." Was, fortunately, the only response Donnie needed.
-
"See? Smooth sailing. We'll have Raph in no time." They just drove into a subway tunnel leading to the Metro Tower.
"And Sky." Donnie added. Yes. And Sky. But if anything goes wrong, Raph is always the priority.
"I hope they're okay." Mikey said in his sad little voice. "How are we gonna find them once we get there?" Eh, Donnie'll work on something. And if not, Leo is ready to search the whole darn building to get his brother back.
"I have a lot of questions regarding 'once we get there'." Looks like Donnie doesn't have anything in mind yet. Searching the whole thing floor by floor it is then.
"Relax. We'll do what we always do. Ninja in, ninja their faces, ninja out." Leo responded, trying to calm the others down.
"That's exactly how you freed all those families from Kraang labor camp." Casey piped up. Yeah. That sounds like him.
"In the future you guys are beyond amazing!" Casey almost yelled.
Donnie quickly got up from their seat, engaged autopilot and started asking "Of course! What about my future?"
"Don't let me down. I'm expecting big things from me." They smiled.
"Donnie, you were the most brilliant, innovative mind of all time! You were running?? all the systems in our colony. You even made a formula to reverse the speeding aging effect Mikey's ninpo overuse has caused him!" Casey said, excited, his eyes even almost sparkling for a second.
But then all the joy disappeared, giving space to something resembling... melancholy?
"My what?" Donnie couldn't comment because Mikey asked a question, confused and concerned about whatever 'ninpo overuse' was.
"Mikey, in the future, you are the most powerful, badass mystic warrior in the world." Casey lifted Mikeys hands so that the turtle could see them clearly. "With these two hands you sent me back in time."
Sparkles of excitement appeared in his eyes, while he stretched out his arms, trying to test out a power he just discovered he had.
"Actually- I should tell you guys something."
-
Did Donnie miss the way Casey spoke about them? The way he used past tense instead of present, like talking about their little brother.
No.
But it made them think. Did they actually die, or did they just get separated? Or maybe they fell into a coma? Closed themself up in their lab and refused to leave?
Oh, who were they kidding. It was the apocalypse. And with the Kraang running around, the world must've been a really dangerous place. Probably anything could kill them. It could be one of the Kraang, but it could've also been any kind of germ or a virus. Or maybe a collapsing cave.
Ugh, there were too many possibilities.
And the only thing they know for sure is that Sky died for them.
Right, Sky.
The girl who pretended to be their cat for three months and then revealed she knew all of them before. And knew the future.
Does she really like them so much?
How did she die exactly?
A sudden jerk yanked them out of their thoughts aggressively.
"Auto break engaged."
