"Oh mi gosh, look, a cat!" Mikey's yell rang through the sewers, bouncing off walls and startling the three other turtles.

And, indeed, laying on the concrete floor was a grayish tabby striped cat. It seemed to be unconscious, but alive.

"Can we keep it? Please!" The ornate box turtle begged, kneeling next to the animal. Eh, a pet would be a responsibility. Someone will have to feed it and buy toys for it.

Although a cat would also be a nice addition to the lair. And it's not like Donnie ever wanted a cat or something...

"I say we take it back to the lair, even if only to check if it's okay." They reasoned. The animal looked quite hurt. And it will be easier to persuade Raph to keep the cat if he gets attached.

Yes, it was truly the perfect plan.

"Alright." The snapper sighed, defeated.

"Okay, she seems to be most similar to a Dragon Li, a chinese breed." Donnie left out the fact that the cat didn't really seem to be explicitly one particular breed. "She is okay. Has a few bruises here and there, but nothing more."

"Mooncakes!" Mikey shouted immediately. "Let's name her mooncakes! You know, because it's a Chinese dessert, and she's a Chinese breed and she looks so sweet." He explained, when prompted by three pairs of eyes, looking at him confused.

"I mean... Makes sense." Leo commented.

"I feel like calling her Selene would be better." Donnie chimed in, with their idea. Selene was a great name!

"No. Mooncakes stays." Leo shot down their idea. Now the four had to tell Splinter about the new pet.

Entry 1 [Dec 27]The creature known as Mooncakes, or Selene, appears to be a feline creature. She looks and acts similar to a cat. After scanning one of her hairs it turned out her DNA doesn't belong to a cat.

It appears to be similar to cat only in 10%. The rest is snake (18%), human (36%), clam (9%), salamander (12%), frog (8%), dog (2%), lion (7%) and deer (5%).

Entry 2 [Dec 28]
Selene does not, unlike other small creatures such as cats and dogs, fear Raph, much to my eldest brother's unmeasurable joy and my own bafflement.

She doesn't seem to be interested in eating our dear papa. Seeing as he is a rat this could be classified as un-cat-like behaviour.

Entry 3 [Dec 30]
The 'cat' refuses to eat cat food, preferring pizza (specifically margherita). This, for obvious reasons, would be extremely unhealthy for a common (normal, real) cat.

Entry 4 [Jan 1]
"Mooncakes is totally playing favourites! She spends almost all of her time with Donnie!" - My twin's contribution to this project. This could be classified as cat-like behaviour, since cats are much more likely to be drawn to quiet, calm people.

Entry 5 [Jan 2]
Selene seems disinterested in cat toys, preferring to watch me working. She enjoys movie nights and sits on the backrest of our sofa.

Entry 6 [Jan 3]
I made a collar for Selene to track her movements since she already got lost in the lair three times.

While we were away fighting Meatsweats, Selene apparently disappeared off the radars completely for approximately an hour.

Entry 7 [Jan 5]
After recalibrating everything and enhancing the range of the radars three times, the cat still disappears. I have no way but to give up and classify it as suspicious activity of the subject.

Entry 8 [Jan 6]
Camera footage shows Selene gesticulating into thin air, almost like the cat was having a conversation. It happened on 8 separate occasions.

She stops upon hearing a sound (videos 2 and 5) and seems to only engage in such behaviour if no one is around.

Entry 9 [Jan 7]
Selene is not afraid of water. She got accidentally partially turned blue by Mikey's paint and when we (me and Raph) decided to give her a bath in the bathtub, all ready for the frantic meowing and scratching cat's usually resort to is such situation, we were surprised to see that Selene almost jumped into the bathtub herself. She didn't object even when Leo whipped out cat shampoo he bought.

We did get scratched in the end, because little miss didn't want to get out of the water.

I am aware of some felines liking water, such as the bengal cat or turkish van, but dragon li is not one of them.

Entry 10 [Jan 8]
It appears that Selene has a sense of humour. She makes noises similar to snickering whenever something funny happens, or a (funny) joke is said.

Entry 11 [Jan 10]
Selene heard Leo chirp in surprise and attempted to replicate the noise. Could she be a mimic?

Entry 12 [Jan 11]
I had a nightmare. I later found footage of Selene curling up on my plastron and purring when she realized what was happening. It seemed to have helped.

Entry 13 [Jan 13]
Goofing off, Leo and I decided to see which types of pizza our dear cat likes the most.

The answer is: cheese pizza, margherita, pepperoni and capricciosa.
The cat can't stand hawaiian (same), or any pizza with mushrooms or vegetables as toppings.

Entry 14 [Jan 14]
Our dear father (sarcasm) decided that we have to eat more vegetables, and so he decided to bake us carrot cake and make pancakes with spinach. Bleh.

Selene didn't seem to mind, seeing as it was her who ate all of it. Into un-cat-like behaviour it goes.

Entry 15 [Jan 15]
Today Selene accidentally knocked a mug off a table and looked as if she was trying to catch it, stretching her tiny paws out.

She never actually pushed anything off any table or counter before. It isn't particularly alarming, but is a bit unusual for a cat.

Entry 16 [Jan 17]
Selene seems to have a taste in music and a surprisingly good sense of rhythm. She usually moves her head to the beat of whatever song I am listening to in the lab, but it goes even as far as to walk in the rhythm (She makes her steps to the beat. So far it happened twice, when Leo was loudly playing Ariana Grande's 'Yes, and?' and Dua Lipa's 'Blow your mind').

Sometimes she enters the room when a song is playing (usually it's Raph listening to Rihanna) and exits when she doesn't l̶i̶k̶e̶ know the song. After approximately 20 minutes of listening to a song (depending on the length - around 3 to 5 repeats) she warms up to it and stays in the room.

Entry 17 [Jan 18]
She's very clingy and likes sitting on my lap when I work. This is not unusual, just a cute fact.

Selene seems to a) understand human language, and b) know who Rosalind Franklin was.

I was trying to educate my dum dum brothers a bit, and when I asked if they knew who the woman was, Selene nodded.

Just today, when Selene was 'saying goodmorning', as the rest calls it, to Mikey and Raph, while she climbed on Raph (yeah, she does that) I discovered that she is not using her claws to climb (which is very un-cat-like), like she knew that it would hurt him.

Apparently she never used them while doing it. And she does have claws (the state of her scratching post can confirm).

Entry 21 [Jan 27]
April came over with Mayhem, and Selene seemed to have fun playing with the creature. Afterwards she collapsed on her bed in my lab.

Entry 22 [Jan 30]
I tried finding Selene's musical taste. For now her favourite authors are Sam Smith, Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande.

She also loves songs from years 2010-2018 by Maroon 5, Selena Gomez's album 'Revival' and top Britney Spears songs.

Entry 23 [Jan 31]
Right after I wrote the previous entry, Selene curled up on my plastron (I was lying on my bed) and didn't get up until I woke up 5 hours later.

This is surprisingly intelligent of her to force me to sleep. I wonder if I could use it against Leo...

Entry 24 [Feb 1]
I used the cat against Nardo.

Saying "Can you trap Leo for 3 hours?" to her, I wasn't expecting anything, and yet she surprised me, by immediately trotting over to Nardo's room and quickly curling up on him, when he was reading Jupiter Jim in bed.

She effectively trapped him in laying position for 3 hours and 11 minutes.

Entry 25 [Feb 2]
I wondered what else Selene could do on command. So far she has successfully stolen a comic book from Nardo, brought me 5 tea bags in a plastic bowl we keep in one of the drawers, waited for me in the lab after a command "go to the lab and wait there for me."

She bit me (on my command), but looked almost guilty doing it and didn't break the skin.

She is very intelligent and I don't know if it's a go

Entry 26 [Feb 3]
She closed my laptop when I was writing the last entry, and demanded scratches. It was very strange.

She probably could murder someone in their sleep, but I'm not gonna check that.
