Chapter 42 - The Attack
Turns out it was permanent.
Sky lost her water powers.
To be honest, she didn't miss them that much.
Next days were blissfully non catastrophic, allowing everyone to relax after the unfortunate vacation that ended with a funeral. In this one short week Sky managed to get somehow promoted to Police Commissioner, Uncle Nix opened another Dairy Dragon and Liv and Jay started dating.
This time was definitely not uneventful. And on top of all that, someone started smuggling vengestone from Shintaro and breaking prisoners out of kryptarium.
So let's just say that when Sky got kidnapped, she expected for a council of villains she was brought to, to have an army of vengestone warriors.
What they didn't, however, expect was to be met with their own face, when presented to the bad guys by the Mechanic. Oh, so that's where Rain has been.
"Hmmm... You did good capturing Waterlily. You're in." Chen rose from his chair at the circular table, dimly lit by purple light. On his left were sitting Nick and Kalmaar and on his right was Pythor and a fifth chair that the Mechanic was just taking.
"Welcome" Rain paused for dramatic effect. "to the Council of Evil Organizations." She was hovering over Sky, with a grin on her face.
"The CEO has as its members powerful people. I'm sure you know some of them, huh?" Rain continued, leading Sky down a corridor by the vengestone cuffs they've been bound with.
"And this will be your cage. Cozy, isn't it?" Rain quipped and showed Sky the cage, before shoving her into it. Sky didn't respond in any way other than snarling.
"It won't do you any good. We're launching an attack at the monastery in two days by the way." Rain turned back to some kind of a computer. Sky swapped snarl out for a death glare. "Why are you telling me?"
"Because you're not getting out of here either way." Rain laughed. "And I know you. You won't even try escaping. That's your only good trait." She turned to face Sky and stepped closer so that she was only centimeters away from the other. "You're a quick learner." Her voice sounded like Nadakhan for a second.
How did she even know about that?!
"Ohhh... Your face is priceless. It's almost better than applause." Rain smiled, knowing damn well that Sky was going to finish the quote herself. She must've enjoyed it. Poking fun at Sky.
But she was right. They can't escape. And even if there is a way, they won't risk it. Both of them knew it. Sky was just too...
Obedient.
-
No one came for her. Well, it wasn't surprising considering she didn't even know where she was, much less others.
"Wake up sleepyhead!" Rain rudely interrupted their thoughts. "The villains want you on the battlefield."
What? Why would they need her?
Their confusion must've shown up on their face, because Rain answered. "I don't know why." Probably to flash it in front of their family that they have captured them.
"And why don't you know? Aren't you their servant or something?" Sky tried to poke fun at Rain.
"My god, knock it off. I already told you. I'm your clone. It's all you darlin'." Rain sighed and returned the favour. "Now get your head in the bag. No, we don't care if you see where our base is. It's only to humiliate you a bit more."
-
Sky heard various sounds on the way. She was being transported on the back of some kind of a van and then led inside some kind of building.
"Hi! This is an attack!" Rain's cheerful voice rang through what appeared to be a cave and chittering that Sky didn't notice before it stopped. "Oh, and look who we have."
Her smug tone preceded someone taking the bag off Sky's head.
Immediately the light blinded them, before they could see the location they were in. It was the secret cave under the monastery.
All of the ninja were standing in defensive poses in front of a table they were probably previously sitting at. A few shouts of "Sky?!" and "Let her go!" sounded from them.
But before Rain could respond, Nick jumped out from the shadows he was hiding in and attacked Harumi. Right on cue all the other villains lunged to neutralize the rest. Some fighting fair, some - not so much.
Quickly Rain joined the fight alongside her masters, leaving Sky unattended.
"Hi." Lloyd whispered, getting out of the shadows near the half dragon. "Let me help you."
He quickly freed her from the chain, but before he could get rid of her cuffs, Pythor striked.
Sky reacted quickly, jumping onto the snake, ignoring the bruises all around her body flaring up. It would've been easier if she didn't have personal beef with Nick, Kalmaar and Chen. Maybe they wouldn't 'play' with her while she was their prisoner.
Overpowered, Pythor quickly disappeared from sight, probably to look for another person to attack.
Sky started looking for Lloyd again, so that he could free them, but he was nowhere to be found. And then Sky heard a loud Bang.
Harumi got thrown into a wall by none other than her brother. Well, getting back shapeshifting will have to wait.
Just as Nick was laughing at Rumi, distracted, Sky jumped at him, tackling him to the ground. "Oh, look. It's the traitor himself." She quipped. He pushed her off himself and assumed a fighting stance. Naginata in his hand, he attacked.
Sky dodged and tried to kick him, but he was too fast.
They were about to try to punch Nick again, but someone collided with them. Both figures landed on the floor. Nick had a clean shot. He was just about to use this opening, when Harumi jumped on him, colliding feet first into his face.
Sky groaned. They didn't have time for this. "Get off." She hissed out at...
Lloyd.
Now she could finally get her power back! "Lloyd, can you help me with the cuffs, please." She pleaded, pushing the green ninja off her.
"Yeah, let me just stand up." He wobblily got up and steadied himself so as to not fall down immediately.
Meanwhile Sky got up too and outstretched their arms so that Lloyd had a clean view of their wrists.
A bit of burning, electrifying pain and Sky was free.
"It's dragon time!" She shouted before she was stopped by Lloyd.
"No. There's too little of them and too many of us. We need something more precise." Ah, so in this instance something quite deadly, silent and small. Oh, she knows the perfect animal for that.
-
Her cat form changed again, which was weird. This time it had stripes instead of spots and instead of its old almost-blue gray it had more of a grayish brown color. Why did it change though?
It didn't matter.
Sky started to sneak around in search for someone she could easily get rid of. Passing Liv and Unagami, who fought alongside Uncle Nix against Kalmaar and the Mechanic.
That was her chance. Jump and slash throat.
And so she jumped and before she could even land on Kalmaar's shoulder, she got caught up in the air.
What was happening?
Looking around they saw Rain, pointing the scroll of forbidden spinjitzu at them. She, as for her, had to make a performance out of everything. So she just had to climb a few stairs and onto the table.
When she was finally almost in the centre of everyone's attention, along with Sky still frozen in time in mid air, Rain theatrically fired something at Sky.
What was she doing? Trying to send them to the neverrealm?
Sky felt like barfing and fainting at once. Barely keeping her eyes half-open, on a verge of consciousness she felt dizziness seeping into her bones and the cold surrounding her.
And what was that smell?
Eh, at least she wasn't dying.
