Chapter 29 - Secret uncovered

The person was coming closer and closer to them, pulling out a machete. Oh, not good. Very not good!

Wren wasn't good at negotiations. And without their powers the fight will be hard.

"Let the dragon go, and I won't resist!" They knew they looked very desperate. They knew no one would listen.

The person with the machete was now getting too close. They raised their weapon- wait. Isn't it Lloyd's machete? Was he captured too? Or did this person find it on the ship?

"Hey, it's me, Lloyd." They heard a whisper. Oh, so the person was LLoyd. Okay. But why was he here?

"We've come to rescue you." Okay, but where were the rest of the kids? Were they safe?

In that moment three figures jumped down from the stands and fought their way through the crowd to get to Lloyd and Wren.

One of them turned around and, upon realizing just how many opponents were circling them, shouted "Okay, now would be a good time to use your cool dragon powers!"

Oh no. The kids had no plan. Wren sighed and confessed "I can't. They put vengestone cuffs on me." The rest seemed very surprised by their statement.

"Vengestone blocks your powers too?!"

-

So, yeah, that's how they all found themselves in that same cell Wren was occupying before the fight.

"I can't believe we made a plan that failed so miserably!" Jay lamented, still not quite over this whole 'blocking powers' situation.

"Can you stop whining? We have to figure out an escape plan." Livinia's frustration manifested in growling and anger rather than cries and sobs.

"Do you think Lloyd could blast those bars away with his power?" Harumi pointed at the window. Despite being kidnapped and imprisoned for the first time (Wren really hoped it actually was her first time) she was taking things really well. Or internally panicking for so long that she's gone into a state of nihilism already.

"Dunno. We can try." Lloyd seemed to grasp any distraction he could. It certainly wasn't his first time being kidnapped but it only meant he knew the horrors.

The green ninja stood up from the floor, where he was drawing something in the sand and dust covering the stone, and took a few steps up to the small window.

He adopted a stance and charged his attack. A second later green light smashed into the bars, disfiguring them. Well, it wasn't a flop.

"Hey, is it possible for you to get rid of my cuffs? Then I could get us all out." Wren asked. They knew they were risking probably chemical burns, but it was their only hope.

Lloyd grabbed their wrists and concentrated his energy. The green light was blinding and Wren felt like their hands and forearms were being burnt and chipped away bit by bit. It stung in a painful, weird way. It felt like their arms were being frozen and boiled all at once.

As much as they were good at ignoring and hiding pain, this was a torture straight out of the ancient Rome.

They shut their eyes and bit on their lip, just to stop themself from shouting out.

And then the feeling stopped.

They opened their eyes, realizing that tears were running down their face. The cuffs were off.

They stood up, not even bothering to swipe away the teardrops and drew their bag from the pocket dimension.

This earned them a few shocked gasps. "How did you do that?"

"Well, I fished it out of the pocket dimension linked to my choker. See?" They forced the collar of their shirt down to reveal a green heart-shaped choker collar.

"Okay, now let me just fish out something..." They stuck their whole arm into the purse and began fiddling to find something. "Oh, those pocket dimensions..." They muttered frustrated.

"Yes! I got it!" They held out a vase proudly, for the four to see.

"Wait. Why would you need two pocket dimensions?!" Harumi and Jay exclaimed at the same time.

"Ah, see, One is for clothes, my purse, some backup outfits, a few weapons and my bag, while the other is for pens, tools, the vase, ropes, tapes, fidget toys, headphones and so on." They started listing out. "What? I like to be prepared." Wren defended when they saw the looks from the kids.

"Now-!" They lifted up the vase again, only for Jay to interrupt them again. "Hey, doesn't it look like that weird thing Sky uses to visit Mei?"

He earned a few nods from the rest, and turned to Wren again. "Explain yourself."

"Okay, can we first get back home, please?" They sighed.

-

Jay was not gonna let it go. The Dragon Warrior not only had Sky's portal thingy, but also her purse, her choker and her tired-but-willing-to-cooperate voice.

And so just when they teleported back to Ninjago, he demanded answers.

-

W̶r̶e̶n̶? Sky was really nervous. They were now really glad for all those drama classes with Macaque. She promised themself not to try to keep it too big of a secret. To admit the truth if her siblings discovered their secret identity.

And now Jay, Harumi and Liv knew, and she didn't know what to do. They didn't even know which set of pronouns to use to refer to herself.

And on top of it all came the thoughts their brain was quietly whispering to her. 'Oh, they're gonna be mad'
'Maybe they won't accept you'

'And what if they're gonna try to kill you?'

'They hate the Dragon Warrior, remember?'

So now, stepping through the interdimensional portal right after the three, they just wanted to disappear. Or fast-forward the conversation about to take place.

What consequences will it have? What if that information finds its way to the media? And the whole city will hate her?

They can't really stay at Mei's for more than a few days, because Ao Guang would know.

The only option would be to run away to another realm. She-Ra realm would probably be the best pick in that situation, considering that it's a familiar terrain and she had powerful allies there.
On the other hand the amount of people they angered was a bit high.

Entrapta would probably take her in and then probably study and try to dissect, but anywhere else Catra would find and surely kill them.

"So. Care to explain?" So that moment came. She was about to face their own mistakes and consequences.

She was now standing on the Bounty in the living room, surrounded by their family. Family that she was probably about to lose.

They took a deep breath in and out and swallowed down the fear and adrenaline, which was pumping in her veins for a good few minutes now.

"Okay, so, to get everyone up to Jay's speed," They started out, feeling the performer in her kick in. Good. "We were transported to the realm of Oni and Dragons and imprisoned. While getting us out, I revealed that I am in possession of this." Saying those words they pulled out the vase she used to transport them all here. "He claimed you know it, because your friend 'Sky' has an identical one." She glanced at everyone. Mei was standing in the far off corner, just behind Cole, snickering silently.

"Which" They continued. "should be impossible, since she made it herself." She saw a few nods along their audience.

"Well, I say it is possible." A few gasps ran through the room. "Because, you see, I made it." Saying that she quickly changed into their human form, revealing her face.

That moment was the longest three seconds in their whole life.

"Wait! You're the Dragon Warrior?!" Kai's voice was louder than she'd ever heard. His scream started a tsunami of various questions and shouts.

"And you didn't say anything?" "Wait, so you had those powers this whole time?" "Mei knows?" "Looks like Lloyd knew too." "Why weren't you helping us more often?"

But one stood out.

"Wait, so, which set of pronouns do you want us to use?" Lloyd's question caught them off guard. She never actually thought about it.

"Uh" The moment they spoke up everyone fell silent. "emmm... Both? I guess...?" She felt so embarrassed.

"Uh, anyways, what about Nick? Is he still a threat?" They asked, ignoring every question previously thrown at her.

"Oh, Mei called her friend and he beat the stone giant in, like, 15 seconds, and dropped Nicholas off at the police station." Lloyd pointed at Mei, who was now standing in the far corner of the room.

"He was so cool, and had a stick, which-" Lloyd's words fell into the background noise. Sky was just glad that everything worked out.
