Chapter 2 - Mei
Sky never had a 'way with children', so teaching her four younger brothers required a lot of effort.
And the topic wasn't even that boring. She, personally, would've killed to learn about snake fighting techniques in school.
"Come on, I know you're stronger, now that Zane apparently unlocked his true potential, but Wu disappeared for his journey. You all need to be stronger!" Her speech did nothing. These four were still bored out of their minds. Okay, quick, what do they like? Fighting and video games (well, on top of cooking, playfighting, tinkering, poetry and, apparently, driving?? or smth)
So, now she has a few possible strategies: present everything to them as though they were playing a game (that would require stats of every enemy though. And she didn't have it??), turn into every species of snake they will be fighting and let them learn through fight (there was a risk she'll reveal her secret identity) or capture a few snakes and make them fight in a controlled environment.
Even though the last option was probably the best, Sky chose to quickly create the required materials to make the fight a game to four teens. "You have a ten minute break! Be here when I come back!" With those words the girl dashed out of the room to go get creative.
-
When Sky returned to the 'class', as she called it, she started showing the guys character sheets of every of the snake generals with stats. Now that's something Jay understood!
Hypnobrai were fast and weak on the defensive, their special ability was hypnotizing their opponents.
Constrictai were slow and good on defense. Their main weapon was their strength. As for special ability they could burrow in the ground and even break bones with their strong tails.
He grabbed his mug to drink and took a long sip of his tea. It tasted weird. Maybe because he added sugar instead of his usual honey because they ran out? Who knows.
Anyway, Venomari are very similar to hypnobrai, except their venom makes people hallucinate.
Anacondrai were generally strong and fast, relied heavily on their sharp swords, but had no special abilities.
And the most interesting - Fangpyre. Their venom, when injected to human bloodstream, would start mutating human cells into snake cells. Besides that, this species was fast and relatively good one defence. Just about human level-
Frick! His arms started itching. Bad. What in the world was happening?
-
"Has anyone seen the container with green substance?! I can't find it anywhere!" Sky shouted to the guys, while searching around for it. The venom had to be here!
"Uh, yeah! Kai poured it into Jay's tea! Oh, it's gonna be so funny when he starts having hallucinations!" Cole shouted. What. NO. No no no no no! Those idiots thought- They- Ugh!
Breathe in. Breathe out. "It wasn't Venomari venom. It was Fangpyre venom. He's gonna mutate into a snake." Sky sighed, facepalming. "I'm gonna go get painkillers, you get him to the med bay. Please." She was stressed, yes. But also tired. Okay, mainly tired.
This was the thirteenth prank resulting in someone landing in med bay this week. If only she had an opportunity to relax a bit...
Her phone rang, startling her. A bit. Just a little bit.
She pressed a button and brought the cellphone to her ear. "You're conversing with Sky Walker." Familiar laugh filled her head when she said those words. It was Mei. Of course it was Mei, who else could it be? She smiled.
"You doin' anything?" Cheerful voice asked her from the other side of the phone. "Oh, you know, Jay's in med bay. But you can come over if you want." Sky would like that. She would kill to spend time with Mei again.
And so five minutes later the raven haired girl was standing in their living room, hugging Sky. Just as they were about to sit down, an alarm started blaring, informing everyone of another group of snakes causing problems.
Sky rushed to the bridge, Mei following suit. She pressed a few buttons and important information appeared on the screen. "Okay, the snakes are in the Megamonster Amusement park. Everyone, grab your weapons! Except for you, Jay."
"Hey, I can fight, you know! I'm going." Jay said, scratching his arms. Sky just gave him a sceptical look and instructed. "Okay. get him some antidote. It's in snake general's staff."
"Okay, but what will we be doing?" Mei asked, and Sky smiled. "We go with them, and have fun!"
-
Oh and fun they had!
First a few rollercoaster rides, and games, then ice cream (it was a real challenge not to stain all the plushies they won.). Ah, yes, classic mint chocolate chip for Mei and lemon sorbet for Sky.
And after all that they were here, in the Megamonster restaurant, waiting to order.
Both of them were laughing, because of a joke Mei said a few minutes before. In moments like this one Sky remembered why she loved spending time with the girl in green so much.
"If you wanna sing some more, I know a good place back in my realm." Mei gently nudged Sky with her elbow and opened an interdimensional portal with her vase. It contained a liquid, called 'portal juice 2.13'. Well, yeah, the name wasn't anything too creative, but neither was the liquid itself, which was traveller's tea boiled down to a point where it could open a portal to another realm for one person, with just a drop of it.
All three of them (Sky, Mei and MK) (Maybe with Red Son's help too) made it a few years ago, while trying to find a way back home for Sky-
Okay, we don't want to go in that direction.
Anyways, it was cool and very useful. Especially if you had a friend from another realm.
"Come on!" Mei's voice brought her back to reality. Green skittle gestured at the portal and jumped in. Sky soon did the same.
-
Jay was not havin' it.
His whole body itched, his head was spinning non-stop and he felt like he'd pass out any moment.
It was not a state to fight in. Yet he did. Even though the snakes were laughing at him, he did fight.
Well, yes, kicking their asses was not easy, because his centre of balance was different, since he had a tail.
He couldn't really fight. Although he tried.
-
Sky was having a blast! Sleepovers at Mei's were always something else.
First they went to a karaoke bar, then ate more ice cream on the way to the Dragon household. There they watched a few horrors ('In the Tall Grass' was really chilling, but 'Terrified' was a bit more bloody, so it won), played arcade games for three hours straight, tried to bake a cake and ate even more ice cream. And that's how one evening turned to two days.
But it was finally time to get back home. So they made a portal and returned to ninjago.
-
She was dropping Sky off. She was supposed to be in Ninjago for a few minutes.
So now, training for their performance in a dancing competition, Mei was wondering how in the world she got in here.
It was more of a rhetoric question, because it was obvious that Sky was just a bit too convincing. And a chance to get a fang blade? She couldn't just pass up the opportunity.
-
Finally the day came. Sky was so excited! She didn't really like the adrenaline rush, but performing was something else. It was an experience like no other. A chance to show your skills and even win something.
They were finishing up make-up and repeating dance moves for the last time, when the ninja were performing. The Girls had a few laughs, and Sky lost her only mascara somewhere, but it was fun!
Suddenly a muffled noise caught her attention. It sounded like the source was in a nearby closet, so she shushed Mei and carefully walked up to the door.
Upon opening it, her eyes landed on a tied up guy in a tuxedo. Wait, wasn't it one of the judges?
Eh. She shrugged and closed the door before Mei could comment on this. "Someone will find him. Eventually."
-
They walked up on the stage.
Despite the reflectors shining in her eyes, she could see Pythor, in a fake beard sitting next to other judges. Sky paid him no mind.
So there they were, having fun, surrounded by nothing but music, like they were back at Mei's place, dancing the night away.
Sky liked dancing. For this exact feeling.
Her pulse so loud in her ears, she barely heard all of the judges say "10".
-
After their performance, the girls walked off the stage and met up with the ninja, who got only 20 points out of 30, because of Pythor of course. And maybe because Jay's tail, which they still haven't managed to get rid of, was not the best for dancing.
-
After the winners, who turned out to be Mei and Sky (the latter still couldn't believe it), the whole squad got to the backstage again, to change into their normal clothes, a certain purple-scaled snake made his cool entry and revealed the oh such surprising mystery that he was, in fact, impersonating the third judge, by ripping away his fake beard from his very human face set on his totally normal sized neck.
"Okay, but where is the real one?" Kai asked, earning a loud thud, as the real judge fell out of the closet. Everyone went quiet for a second, until Sky broke the silence. "I told you someone will find him."
Using the judge as a distraction Pythor slithered away with the fang blade, leaving a few henchmen to deal with the ninja.
The fight started, but didn't last longer than five minutes, because someone accidentally cut the rope which was holding some heavy reflectors.
They fell directly on Lou - Cole's father who just walked in to congratulate his son.
Before, however, anyone could say anything (and that's for the best, because Sky would probably say something along the lines of 'oh on, and they just reunited :(' semi sarcastically) Cole dived in under the heavy stuff and lifted it up, reaching his true potential.
And then Lou had to go to the hospital, because he had broken ribs. Cole decided to accompany him.
"Okay, so, I guess you have to go now?" Sky threw a question at Mei. In fact, she didn't want her to leave.
"Oh, right! Sorry, I forgot about the whole world for a minute." The raven haired girl smiled, and opened a portal. "Bye." She waved and stepped through the interdimensional doorway.
"Hey, what about a movie marathon?" Jay asked, when the team was stepping onto the deck of the Bounty. "I have some work to do, but you three can stay up as long as you want. Just don't tell Wu I let you." Sky walked away with a smile, already hearing 'Starfarer' on TV.
