Chapter 3

EMMA

My smile fell as I walked in and saw our principal. I flashed a quick smile at her as she saw me. I hung my coat up and sat down across from her.
I saw Andre walk over to her kitchen and leave me alone with the demon. I wanted to walk into the kitchen and strangle Andre but I couldn't let my principal see that.
So I just sat there.
We smiled awkwardly at each other, both of us making quick glances towards the kitchen where Andre and her mother are.
I froze when I heard a plate drop. I grinned at my authority before running into the kitchen to see what the issue was. Once I reached the door, I skid to a stop.
I looked at my best friend, who was currently being glared at by her mother. The tension between them was so thick, you could cut it with a knife.
I took a wild guess that Andre had told her mom. I gave a worried look towards Andre, who then frowned. Her mother shooed us out of the kitchen, and into the living room.
Honestly, I want to know why is every treating this like such a big deal? It's her not liking a boy at this current time.
Andre sat down next to me, and kept glancing at me. I was starting to get very worried about her breathing. She's always had a bit of trouble breathing, but no asthma. She did have really bad anxiety, which was often the cause of the breathing issues.
The principal was about to start speaking, when I coughed loudly. I shot her a look that had sorry written all over it. Her face had a flash of anger that was gone as soon as it came. I heard a loud ding from my purse and went over to check my phone. I yanked out the electronic, and saw J.J had texted me.
J.J😈
You guys need to get down to the park right away. Don't even ask why. Just come.
About five seconds later, Andre got the same message. We looked at each other and both ran to get some clothes from upstairs. We shot up there faster than you could say, "Hi."
Andre threw on red flannel shirt with navy jeans and combat boots. I threw on a lavender dress and some white converse. We grabbed our phones, Andre grabbed her hoodie, and we took off.
Andre's house was a few blocks down from the park, so we ran. I quickly remembered to text J.J that we were on our way.
EmmaOfCrazeTown
Kk. We're heading dere now.
We continued running until we saw J.J waving at us. Behind him we saw the rest of our class. I tilted my head, and walked over. I could hear light shouts coming all the way back from Andre's house, but I didn't give a crap.
J.J pulled Andre to the side, and she returned with a shocked look on her face. Before I could ask, she stomped off into the park itself. Kyle kept looking back at her, but would shut his eyes, and Nexa would grip his arm harder.
J.J came over and pulled me to the side.
"There's some rumor going around. Some of us got texted from a private number to meet down here for a town meeting There was a sign saying,'Living is worthless when there's death', and uh," He said as he looked around the area, checking if anyone was listening, " Everyone kept saying it was actually Andre who wrote the sign."
That killed me. How could Kyle go from being one of our best friends, to our worst enemy 's boyfriend, in one day? Explain that. Tell me why. It was an accident. An accident that was my fault, not Andre's. So now, I'm getting her in trouble.
"I hate life." I said aloud.
"Tell me about it Em." J.J replied.
Ever wonder why life treats you wrong?
Great, I'm having an existential crisis.
Just why though? You can be a perfect child. Never do anything wrong. Never sin. Well, we all sin, but you get my point. Never be dirty. The really cool kid that everyone likes.
And then life throws you to the curb.
It all starts carefully, small things start happening, like your friends have lately been want to hang out with other people. Your grades might drop a little.
Then, comes the major stuff.
Your parents start abusing you. Your teachers yell at you for everything. One parents leaves you alone with the abusive one.
You can get very ill. Maybe, your parent will have a drinking problem.
And then you turn on yourself.
You start questioning your existence. Basically, a miniature existential crisis.
But much more serious.
Depression. Usually caused by family issues and bullying. I remember my aunt suffering from it a long time ago. I had to be four or five.
I feel like if this goes any further, Andre could fall into this. Her parents aren't exactly the most supportive people. Of anything. Her Dad pretty much hates the world. Her closest family member is her older half brother, and he lives in London.
She could fall into the black hole of depression.
And that worries me.
