chapter two.

All my friends are fake- Tate McRae

LIFE KINDA SUCKED FOR CYNTHIA SARI, a teen who went from a big mansion to a one bedroom apartment, seeing her parents every day to never getting a text from them, and the most recent development that wasn't that big of a deal but still hurt was watching her friends have fun at a party on instagram without her, a party she wasn't invited to.

"What's wrong, Cynthia?" Bianca asked as she ate from her huge bowl of Doritos.

"Nothing, i'm just kinda bored I guess." The Sari girl shut off her phone and threw it on the couch next to her.

"Why don't you see if Miguel got back from his debate team meeting?" The older Sari woman asked. "I don't know why he's on debate team, he couldn't argue with a fly."

"Right." Cynthia said awkwardly, knowing that he was with Johnny doing karate. "Yeah, i'm going to go check."

The teen got up from the couch and left her phone, it wasn't like she had any friends to text her anyways. Then, she left house and made her way next door. The door immediately swung open, she didn't even need to knock.

"I was just going to come get you." Miguel walked out and closed the door behind him. "I had the best day ever, well it wasn't the best but I really think that sensei is really warming up to me-"

The Diaz boy looked at the Sari girl as he thought of an idea.

"You know what, let's get some slushies and i'll tell you about it then, how was your day?" He asked thoughtfully.

"It sucked, but i'm glad you had fun." Cynthia crossed her arms as they walked towards the strip mall.

"What sucked about it? Did Bianca cook again?" Miguel questioned, he really didn't want his friend to have a bad day, especially when he was excited about his.

"I'd rather not talk about it." The Sari girl smiled uncomfortably trying to hide how sad she was. "Are these slushie's on you? Because I am flat broke."

"Of course, when you are with me you'll always have a free slushie." The Diaz boy laughed and opened the door to the store as they got to it.

"What a gentleman, if I didn't know any better i'd say you've brought tons of girls to get slushies." The teen laughed slightly and walked inside.

"Nope, glad you're the first though." Miguel smiled as he walked up to the machine. "Blue or red."

"Uhm, both? Duh." Cynthia shook her head. "If you didn't know that you've got lots to learn, Mig. You can't just have one flavor."

"Says you, i'm loyal to red and red only." The two laughed and soon they were sitting in the middle of the aisle talking about nothing and everything.

The Sari girl was glad that she found Miguel Diaz.

CYNTHIA HAD DREADED THIS AWFUL MOMENT, in high school lunch can be the worst or best time of the day. Before, it was the best time. Now? The worst possible place she could be.

She spotted Moon sitting with a few girls so she sat with her in hopes that Yasmine and Sam had lunch at a different time but, man was she wrong. The two girls came strutting over like they were in some 90s teen drama and sat at the same table.

"Oh my god, you guys. You see that guy over there, who looks like he went down on a lawnmower? He's literally wearing the ugliest sweater i've ever seen." Yasmine said, making the other girls laugh.

"That is so wrong." Sam laughed and shook her head.

Cynthia knew it was a bad idea to sit at the rich girls table because, she wasn't rich anymore. She didn't fit in. So, she got up before she had to endure the torture of Yasmine making fun of literally everyone in the cafeteria. She seen Miguel at the table with the boy Yasmine was talking about and sat right next to the Diaz boy.

"Hello, boys." The Sari girl smiled. "How's it going?"

"Is-.. is she talking to us?" The boy in the middle asked, Cynthia felt bad she didn't know his name but they had never talked before.

"Uh, yeah? Why would I not talk to you?" Cyn asked.

"She's literally my only friend here." Miguel said, trying to convince them that he knew her.

"Is this a prank?" The other boy with dark hair asked.

"Oh my god, no. It's not a prank." Cynthia laughed and shook her head. "I'm tired of Yasmine's bullshit and Miguel is my friend so I came over here."

"I don't care if Yasmine is the meanest girl in school. I'd kill all three of you just to get her to spit in my face. Oh, i'm Demetri by the way." The boy extended his hand and Cynthia shook it.

"Glad to know the name of the boy who'd kill me to get spat on." The Sari girl shook her head and looked at the other boy at the table. "What's your name?"

"Uh, it's Eli." He smiled at her and looked away quickly.

"Nice to meet you, Eli." Cynthia glanced over at Miguel who continued to look at the rich girl table. "Do you like one of them?"

"What? No, I was just thinking that they shouldn't be the only ones sitting there, you know? This isn't just a school for rich people." The Diaz boy shrugged.

"Believe me, you don't want to sit there, Mig." The Sari girl said as Miguel got up from his seat.

"What— what are you doing?" Demetri asked.

"I'm striking first." The Diaz boy said as he began to walk over to the table.

"If he dies, will you guys be my new friends?" Cynthia asked jokingly.

"He's not going to die, he's going to go kill them all. I hope we don't get hit with shrapnel ." Demetri added.

The three watched as Kyler stole the seat Miguel was going to sit in and the boy immediately came back.

"So, how'd it go?" Demetri asked.

"I don't want to talk about it." Miguel furrowed his brows as he shook his head.

"I hate to say this but, I told you so." Cynthia said in a sing song voice.

"She did tell you." Demetri added.

"I heard her." Eli said, trying not smile at Miguel's expense.

"Oh shit, I forgot I have to go meet my teacher for some help on my project." Cynthia sighed and got up from her seat.

"See you later, Cyn." Miguel said sadly, he was still thinking about his failed attempt at sitting at the other table plus he wanted to eat lunch with her.

"Bye boys." The Sari girl placed a kiss on all three of the boys cheeks before walking off.

"Did that just happen?" Demetri furrowed his brows and looked around the room for cameras.

"She's pretty great." Miguel let himself smile and then took a bite of his food.

"Yeah." Eli put his hand on his cheek and looked back at Cynthia as she left.
