chapter twenty four.

Count on me — Bruno Mars

THINGS WERE TENSE IN COBRA KAI EVEN AFTER Daniel LaRusso took his leave. Johnny was understandably angry that any of his students would go so far to mess up Miyagi-do, and he was right. Cynthia had never been a fan but, she knew to a certain extent what was right and wrong.

The Sari girl threw herself to the floor, and pushed herself up repeatedly, now out of breath as she continued. It had been at the least thirty minutes of this, and with her mental being drained, this was making her physical self go way down too. Maybe this would build up her strength, or make someone spill who trashed Miyagi-do but, honestly, she just wanted to get the hell out of there.

... and away from Hawk who hadn't taken his eyes off her.

"This all could be over in an instant. The decision is yours! Who trashed Miyagi-do? You know i'm no fan of LaRusso's, but that sort of bullshit we don't teach in here. At least not anymore." There was a pause before their sensei continued on. "So, i'm gonna ask you again. Who trashed Miyagi-do?"

"It was not me, Sensei. I would never disrespect another man's dojo—" Chubs was speaking for them all, tired, and out of breath.

"I'm not looking for excuses, i'm looking for answers!" Johnny yelled.

"Sensei, we don't really know who did it." Miguel breathed out, standing up straight before throwing himself down again.

"If I did, I gotta be honest, i'd snitch." Cynthia admitted, continuing on in the exercise she was assigned.

"Somebody knows something. Question is.. who's gonna break?" Kreese questioned.

After his question, the phone rang making sensei Lawrence head to the back office.

"Are you okay?" Miguel whispered over to his best friend, Cynthia simply shaking her head no in response.

On one hand, she wanted to explain everything, and on the other, she didn't want to distort the Diaz boys perspective on his friend.

"We can talk about it later." She spoke, pushing herself up from the ground.

"Sensei, we need some water or something." Theo spoke up, wiping a bead of sweat off of his forehead.

"Two minute break!" Kreese announced, everyone immediately standing up straight as they let out sighs of relief. "Get your bearings."

Cynthia walked over to where her water bottle sat, smiling as she took a long sip of it. She was relieved to have a little break, a little moment where she didn't have to worry about anything but her water. Minutes like these were actually quite nice.

"Is this about Hawk?" Miguel made the girl jump, opening up her eyes, coming face to face with him. "He looks pretty upset too."

"We broke up, and I just really don't want to talk about it right now, okay?" Cynthia's voice cracked, and the Diaz boy could just tell she needed her best friend.

"Slushies and chips on me tonight for dinner?" He suggested with a light smile, wanting to provide as much comfort as he could.

"Sure, why not?" Cyn nodded her head, her expression not changing at all.

She missed the simple days where all she had to worry about was what flavor of slushie she wanted.

AFTER HOURS OF GRUELING WORK AT COBRA KAI Cynthia was just relieved that it was over. Kreese had taken over for Johnny, and the man worked them passed all their limits until their bodies were tuckered out enough to keep them sleeping for days. It just all seemed a bit odd the way he was acting, and that was something the Sari girl noted.

But, she also knew that if Johnny trusted him, she should at least try.

"Sensei Kreese was being a little crazy today, right?" Miguel questioned, breaking the silence that lasted between them as she stared blankly at the long row of chips in front of her.

"That thing he pulled with Tory, making her finish off her opponent was. It's not what Sensei Lawrence has been teaching us lately. It's like he wants to turn it all around." Cynthia sighed as she shook her head. "I don't know, I honestly thought it was just me who noticed."

"I was thinking the same thing." The Diaz boy agreed, another silence lasting between them until he spoke again. "So... you and Hawk?"

"Happened last night." Cynthia nodded, finally settling on a bag of Doritos. "I finally understand how you felt about the Sam breakup."

"I really wish I could tell you it didn't suck." Miguel let out a sigh as the pair walked over to the Slushie machines. "It sucks really bad."

"You know, I thought that if I was the one doing the breaking up, it wouldn't hurt so bad but, it still does." The Sari girl picked a red flavored slushie, watching it fall into the cup. "I feel like someone stabbed me in the chest."

After it filled up, Cynthia closed the lid to her drink and slid down the cabinet, lowering herself to the floor.

"He just wasn't the same person anymore, you know? I couldn't—" Cyn stopped, not able to formulate the correct words.

"Take it anymore?" Miguel questioned, planting himself next to his best friend.

"Exactly." The Sari girl let out a sigh of relief, happy that at least one person in the world understood how she was feeling. "He wasn't good for me anymore, and it really hurts to admit that."

"At least now you can focus more on yourself." The Diaz boy commented, Cynthia nodding with a smile. "We both can."

"Cheers to that."

CYNTHIA DID HER BEST TO CREEP INSIDE HER HOUSE since it was fairly late when she got home, the girl slowly opening the front door. She was surprised to see the light on in the living room, and even more surprised to see her father sitting there, hands on his face. The girl wanted nothing more than to walk past him in that very moment.

"Are you okay?" She questioned as she closed the door behind her.

... but she couldn't do it.

"Nope, you?" Simon looked up from his hands, his eyes red.

"Nope." Cynthia threw her bag on the floor, walking over to the living room before placing herself in a chair. "Me and Hawk broke up."

"I'm not getting married anymore." The Sari man admitted, running a hand through his hair. "I couldn't."

"I'm sorry." Cyn had to admit that she was slightly happy the man wouldn't fully move on from her mom.

Not that she needed to give Penelope any loyalty after leaving.

"No, i'm sorry. I got so caught up in this damn life crisis that I never considered what I was doing to you." Simon shook his head slightly, trying to find the right words to say. "Bianca was here when you really needed it, and I should've been too."

"You're right, you should've been. Mom was leaving but you didn't have to go to, you chose to." Tears pricked at Cynthia's eyes but she pushed them back, trying to stay strong. "But if this is your idea of an apology I guess this is a step in the right direction."

"I haven't even started to apologize, I can promise you that." The Sari man kept his eyes on the ground as his daughter stood up with a nod.

"Thanks for being here, dad." She said quietly, before walking to the room.

... and she was thankful, because at least he was there.

AUTHORS NOTE—
I was on such a roll and dropped the ball for a few days but i'm back now, and better than ever trying to calm Cyn's pain just a lil lmao.

Question, should I do a separate book for s4 or do season four in this one and then the others in a separate book?

Hope you enjoyed!
