chapter thirty two.

Keep holding on — Avril Lavigne

CYN WAS SURPRISED TO OPEN UP HER DOOR AND see Demetri on the other side. They had both agreed to see each other more but, with him busy with Cobra Kai and her focusing on Miguel, there wasn't exactly enough time in the day. The Alexopoulous boy look frantic as he rocked back and forth, making the girl furrow her brows.

"Are you okay? You look like you just had 12 monsters, a shit ton of coffee, and eight packs of skittles." She commented as her friend turned on his heel to face her.

"Yeah—... I just." Demetri paused, as if he was in some sort of weird thought process. "Did you have anything to do with Cobra Kai taking Miguel's money we raised? And them beating up some of the Miyagi-do kids?"

Cynthia was taken aback by even the slightest suggestion she would do something like that. She had proved that her loyalty was with whatever was right, not whatever dojo she was in, time and time again. She lightly cleared her throat before putting on a sad smile.

"I didn't, i'm not a Cobra Kai anymore, and I never will be." Cyn bit the inside of her cheek. "But thanks for thinking so low of me."

"Cynthia, you know I didn't mean it like that." The pale boy let out a light sigh as he scratched the back of his neck. "I just wanted to make sure you weren't still with them because, you don't belong there."

"I don't belong in karate at all. I'm not even that good at it, honestly." Cynthia shook her head. "I'm over it all, and I just want to live a regular, drama free life. Maybe i'll become a..."

"Trying to think of hobbies that don't have drama? Impossible, most humans are just dramatic." Demetri shrugged his shoulders. "How's Miguel? I know you've been to see him. I dropped off some comics awhile ago but I haven't been able to stop by since."

The mention of her best friends name made her forget all about anything Cobra Kai as she genuinely smiled.

"He's going to be getting surgery soon." Cynthia looked down at her wrist watch before curing under her breath angrily. "Damnit, I have to go be there for him."

She ran into the house and quickly grabbed a jacket and her purse.

"Text or call, yeah? The phone works both ways, Dem." She stood closed the door behind her, kissed her friend on the forehead and ran off, hoping to make it in time to be there for Carmen, and the rest of the Diaz family.

For Miguel.

CYNTHIA PRACTICALLY RAN OUT OF THE ELEVATOR when it came to a stop and the doors opened up. She was planning to check on Theo's hospital status before sprinting to the waiting room to be with Carmen. Problem was, when she walked to the front desk, they said Theo had been gone since basically the day after he told her about Robby.

Which was obviously a surprise.

She decided not to dwell on it because, if he was out of the hospital, that meant he was okay. She was already feeling guilty enough about landing him there in the first place so, him being healthy put her at ease as much as possible. Now her main priority was Miguel, who was probably starting surgery right as she walked down the hall.

"Sensei?" She called out as she seen the blonde man holding hands with Yaya, her, him, and Carmen all sitting in a row. "Hey."

They hadn't spoken since she foolishly got offended by his tone the other day, she knew he was hurting just as much as she was, about Miguel, about everything.

"Take a seat, Cynita. It's going to be awhile." Carmen patted the chair next to her, and as she sat down the woman put an arm around her.

The Sari girl could tell the Diaz woman was doing it to comfort herself, and she didn't mind much, her mother hadn't hugged her in over a year.

"Miyagi-do tried to raise money for him, the Cobra Kai kids ruined the whole thing." Cyn spoke up, wanting to start conversation but not realizing how hard it would hit everyone in the room.

"Cobra Kai kids? You mean, you aren't training anymore?" Johnny's eyes turned to the side as his ex-student slowly nodded her head.

"Haven't in weeks, it's not for me." Cynthia lightly shrugged her shoulders, a silence falling over the quartet that lasted quite awhile. "Hawk is the alpha there now, I uhm—... I don't recognize him anymore."

That affected the Sari girl more than she cared to admit, and she realized that as she blinked tears away from her eyes.

"I don't recognize any of them anymore."

CYN NEVER CONSIDERED HERSELF AN EMOTIONAL person but, watching Miguel beat himself up over not being able to move much made her tear up. He had always been strong, maybe not physically but, mentally it was always there, and his accident seemed to... dim that? She hoped it was all temporary; his pain, mentally, and physically and the look in his eye when he was obviously embarrassed she was seeing him this way.

"I don't know, you might have girls lining up at your door after this." She joked, trying to lighten the somber mood. "We love guys with injuries."

"Even ones that can't go to the bathroom themselves?" Miguel questioned with a sigh, avoiding eye contact at all costs.

He didn't want girls lining up after him, the only one that mattered was right there, and he felt like he was embarrassing himself in front of her.

"You know it's not your fault this happened to you." Cynthia reached forward, gently placing her hand on top of his. "and you are going to get better, I know you will."

"Neither of us believe that's true." The Diaz boy slowly moved his hand away and shook his head. "I can see it in your face, I know you."

"Yeah, and I know you, you get through everything." Cyn was hurt by his sudden anger towards her but sat down in the seat next to his bed to try and brush it off. "and i'll always be here."

"Always, huh?" Miguel spoke dryly, his eyes turning towards his best friend.

He seen the sincerity in her eyes and softened slightly, a light smile on both their faces.

"Always, yeah." Cynthia nodded, and once the staring became too much, she turned away, looking down towards her phone.

The Diaz boy kept his eyes on her a little longer, and when he was content, went to reach for his phone. Problem was, he couldn't reach it. Not with how far the table was away from him.

"Need help?" Cyn watched as he struggled, and waved her away, his anger returning.

"You want that?" A familiar voice spoke up near the two teens, both of them turning toward their sensei.

"Yes." Miguel spoke defeatedly, still reaching for it.

Instead of speaking, he lunged forward and pushed the table further away.

"What the hell?" Cynthia questioned, standing up to her feet.

"Go get it." Johnny demanded, pointing towards the cell phone a few feet away.

Sensei Lawrence was back, weather he wanted to be or not.
