chapter thirty four.

Till I collapse — Eminem

CYTHIA WAS OVER THE MOON THAT MIGUEL COULD move his feet. Now, all that was left was for them to help him start walking again, and he would be back to normal. They knew things wouldn't be easy, not one bit but, she was willing to do anything she could to make sure he was happy again, really happy.

Even if it meant going alone with Sensei's dumb plans.

"Are you ready, or what?" Johnny questioned the Diaz boy, pulling on the rope that was holding the boy up.

"I hate this, this is ridiculous." Miguel replied with a frustrated sigh, shaking his head.

"What's ridiculous about it? You guys think he looks ridiculous?" The blonde questioned, looking back towards Cynthia and Theo.

"I think its the harness around his junk." The Antonetti boy commented, shrugging his shoulders. "But uh, maybe thats just me?"

"No, he's right. I look like a giant baby!" Miguel let out, seemingly over all these attempts at trying to get him to stand.

"On the bright side, everyone likes babies?" Cynthia was there to be moral support but, he was completely right.

He did look like a baby.

"The way you're whining and not walking, you might as well be a baby." Johnny spoke with a scoff.

"Well, he literally can't walk but." Cyn shrugged her shoulders lightly as her sensei looked at her with a blank store. "You know what, go ahead, do your thing."

"Isn't there a more badass way we can do this?" Miguel questioned, avoiding eye contact with his best friend.

He absolutely hated her seeing him like this.

"You think tapping your foot at a concert makes you ready for badass training? Your legs are still pussies! Now, you ready to stand?" Johnny said loudly, shaking his head.

"Yes." Miguel replied with a nod.

"Okay... one, two, three, go!" The Lawrence man let go of the rope, and the Diaz boy fell directly onto the ground.

"Shit, are you okay?" Cynthia rushed over and bent on her knees over her best friend, putting her hands on his face to make sure he was fine.

"Better fall this time, let's take five. Theo, want a sandwich?" Johnny asked as he made his way to the kitchen.

"Hell yeah." The Antonetti boy replied, leaving to go follow his sensei.

"I'm fine, just... you know." Miguel reached upward and unhooked himself from the chain above him.

"I get it." Cynthia smiled reassuringly and let go of his face, turning to the side where Johnny's computer was open. "Yo, Sensei! You writing an email to the head of Applebee's again? I'm telling you they aren't gonna—"

"No, no, that's a facebook message." The blonde man corrected, him and Theo walking back to the living room with sandwich's in their hands.

"People still use Facebook?" The Antonetti boy questioned. "Weird."

"Who are you writing to?" Miguel questioned with furrowed brows.

"A babe from high school." Johnny answered as he sat on the couch and opened up his beer. "Ali."

"Ali? Like the Ali? This is huge!" The Diaz boy yelled, his voice full of excitement.

"Guess that means you and Bianca are no more." Cynthia mumbled, rolling her eyes slightly.

"Bianca is the one who told me to stay away, thinks i'm a bad influence on you. That's kinda rich coming from her, don't you think?" Johnny asked as he leaned back on the couch.

"Whatever." The Sari girl shook her head, and shrugged. Maybe Bianca broke things off with him for the same reason she broke thing off with Hawk. "Okay, fine but, if you like this other chick, you can't send her that."

"Yeah, no. You cannot send that to her." Miguel agreed, eagerly nodding his head.

"Oh, god. Come on, you guys. It can't be that ba—" Theo paused as he grabbed the computer and seen how long the mans introduction was. "Yeah, i'm deleting this for you."

"What the hells wrong with it?" Johnny questioned, looking between all the three teens.

Theo on the side repeating delete over and over as he pressed on the backspace button.

"It's like eighty pages, in all caps." Miguel explained.

"I don't even know why you thought any of this was a good idea." Cynthia shook her head slightly as she hugged her knees to her chest. "I mean, really, dude? All caps? Are you trying to yell at her?"

"Okay, but, I have thirty five years worth of stuff to say, alright?" Johnny defended, snatching his computer away from Theo half way through him deleting the messages.

"I'm going to repeat the all caps thing for a third time, maybe if you hear it from all of us you'll get it." The Antonetti boy spoke, giving his sensei a stern and confused look.

"At least you didn't like her photos." Miguel teased, all the teens laughs stopping as Johnny looked awkwardly at them.

This man was going to need a lot of help.

CYNTHIA AND THE BOYS SPENT ALL DAY TAKING photos of Johnny to improve his facebook profile. It was rough trying to get him to pose in a way that didn't look like an 80s magazine cause well, if everyone was being honest, he was stuck in the 80s. After they got a few good ones though, everyone was hungry and decided to stop for food.

What was on the menu? Sushi.

"Miggy, please do not tell me this man just stabbed his chopstick into his sushi." Cynthia commented as she watched Johnny smell his food.

"Oh, no. He did." Miguel nodded, a look of pain on his face as he did.

"You guys are not going to guess who works here." Theo spoke as he made his way back to the table, sitting right next to Johnny. "What the hell are you doing with your dragon roll?"

"What the hell is a dragon roll." The Lawrence man questioned back as he furrowed his eyes.

"Well, it's basically a roll with cucumber, avocado, wait—...who works here?" Miguel asked curiously, tilting his head to the side in thought.

"Tory, I snuck by her on the way back over here, thought she was going to try and chop my head off if I didn't." Theo admitted with a shrug as he reached for his chopsticks. "If I were you, Cyn, i'd steer clear."

"I don't do karate anymore, and maybe I can tell her what happened that night was a mistake... and she'll forgive me." Cynthia tried to reason out loud, nobody agreeing with her.

She didn't care though, she missed her girl best friend.

"I'll be back." She got up from the table, and before any of the boys could protest, she made her way inside.

Tory immediately locked eyes with her, and Cynthia motioned with her head for the blonde to come over to the quieter part of the restaurant.

"What do you want, Sari?" The Nichols girl questioned as she made her way over.

"I want to apologize, for everything. I wasn't honest when I told you I had nothing with Theo, I did, a long time ago but its over now. I was just trying to relive old memories while I was drunk at a party but, it meant nothing. I never would have ruined our friendship on purpose, Tor. You have to believe me." Cynthia was practically pleading for forgiveness at that point.

Not that the blonde across from her cared.

"But you did, and you came way too late to try and fix it now. You betrayed me, and you betrayed Cobra Kai when you left." Tory looked the girl up and down with complete and utter disgust. "Tell Miguel i'm sorry, and have a nice life, Cynthia."

With that, she turned on her heel and walked off, leaving Cyn in complete and utter shock.

UPSET WITH WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITH TORY, Cynthia went back home while the boys continued on with Miguel's training. She wanted to help, of course she did but, she felt like no matter what she did, something went wrong. In her mind, she was bad luck, for Tory, Miguel, or anyone else around her.

"Hang on, hang on." She mumbled as she rolled off the couch, hearing someone knock on the door. "Wha—"

As she swung it open, Cynthia seen something she would never expect.

There Miguel was, standing on his crutches.

"This isn't real." She spoke, placing her hands over her mouth. "You're standing up, alone!"

"Well, technically with crutches but yeah, i'm standing." The Diaz boy wore the sloppiest grin on his face, and Cynthia threw her arms up, wrapping them around him.

"I'm so happy for you, Miggy. I know how bad you wanted this, and you did it." The Sari girl practically teared up at the sight and backed away from him to get a better look, wiping a tear from her eye.

"I couldn't have done it without Sensei, and Theo." Miguel paused for a moment before he smiled. "Or you."

"I didn't do anything." Cynthia ushered her best friend inside and closed the door behind her. "I was basically just a fly on the wall this whole time."

"You were my biggest cheerleader, and you always have been." The Diaz boy spoke sincerely as they sat down together on the couch. "I don't know how I didn't realize it at this time."

"It's what friends do, you know? I'm always going to be here for you, Mig." Cyn smiled lightly. "Slushies and advice for life."

"Thats what I cane to talk about, the uhm—... the friends part. I want to be more than that." Miguel blurted out, searching the Sari girls eyes for an answer, any answer.

"We are best friends, what's more than—..." Cynthia's eyes widened as she came to a realization. "Oh."

"I've been thinking about this for a long time now, like, since before I got hurt a long time. That's why I was so worried about you at the party and that's why we argued—"

"Miguel." The Sari girl interrupted.

"I just mean you're my best friend, and my mom always told me when you're with someone, they should be your best friend, and make you feel alive, and happy... and I don't think anyone's ever made me feel as happy as you—"

"Miguel." Cynthia spoke yet again.

"What?" The boy questioned, frustrated he hadn't let out the whole speech he had thought of on his way up there.

"Shut up." Cyn reached forward and grabbed the back of the boys neck and pressed a kiss against his lips.

For the first time.
