chapter thirty.

Abdcfu — Gayle

WHEN CYNTHIA GOT THE NEWS THAT MIGUEL had woken up, nothing in the world made her as happy as she was, ever. As soon as she got home from school, she bought him flowers, a bear, a card (a get better one, and a sorry one) before packing it all up to go see him. She even thought about buying him a slushie to go with it all.

Then she figured it would melt on her way there.

"Off I go." The girl mumbled to herself, hoping to hitch a ride there with Carmen who was back home for a few minutes to get lunch.

She swung the door open, and was met with one of the last people she wanted to see in that moment.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Cyn raised a slight brow as she looked at the boy across from her with a blank stare.

"I came to talk to you about karate." Hawk leaned on the door, his confidence quite obviously through the roof. "Sensei Kreese wants you back in the dojo."

"Tell that wrinkly raisin old man to shove a bo staff up his ass, and while we're at it, you do it too." Cynthia rolled her eyes and exited her home, shoving the boy out of the way so she could lock the door behind her.

"Are you mad at me?" The Moskowitz boy questioned, tilting his head to the side.

"I genuinely hope that wasn't a serious question." The Sari girl scoffed, lightly rolling her eyes.

"What do you have to be mad about? I didn't do anything to you." Hawk threw his hands in the air, making his ex girlfriend inhale a deep breath and exhale slowly.

"I don't know if all the hairspray you use has made you stupid, or what but, i'm over dealing with you. You put my friend in a hospital over a misunderstanding and didn't even apologize." Cynthia ran a hand over her face, shaking her head. "Don't come to my house, don't call, don't text me. Just pretend I don't exist. That's what i'm going to do with you."

There was a silence, making the Sari girl think he was finished as she walked away. Hawk reached forward and grabbed her arm as she did, making her jerk it away and set the things she got Miguel down, now completely angry. He didn't just get to do that, not then or ever.

"Just come back to the dojo." The Moskowitz boy said with a frustrated sigh.

"That dojo isn't the one I joined, just like you aren't the guy I used to love." Cynthia's voice started to crack, but she knew she wouldn't let herself cry. "Just go."

"Used to?" Hawk practically froze in place by her words, he assumed that one day they would get over all the petty things that had happened between them and get back together.

In that moment, he was seemingly wrong.

"Yeah, used to." Cynthia nodded her head before she picked up her things, putting on a fake smile as Carmen left her apartment. "Hey, I got all my stuff by the time you came out like you said."

The Diaz woman looked back and forth between the two teens knowingly before she nodded her head.

"Let's go."

CYNTHIA WAS ECSTATIC WHEN IT WAS HER turn to see Miguel. Her heart was racing rapidly because of course, she didn't know whether or not he'd be angry with her, or be happy she was there, and she didn't know if he heard all the things she had been saying to him in the past two weeks. It was all up in the air at that point.

"I'm going to give the two of you some space." Carmen commented with a smile, looking between her son and his best friend before leaving the room.

"Hey, Miggy." Cyn awkwardly made her way more into the room, placing everything she had gotten him down on the table. "I'm really glad you're okay and—"

"I wanted to say—"

"I'm sorry." Cynthia and him were about to say the same exact thing at the same time, both of them smiling at each other. "You didn't do anything wrong, Mig. Our fight was my fault and instead of just apologizing, I let it come between us. Then this happened, and i'm so sorry."

"I don't really think I could ever stay mad at you, Cynthia." The Diaz boy did his best attempt at a shrug. "We were both being immature, and it happened but we are both okay, right?"

"Right." The Sari girl nodded her head slightly with a smile, tucking her hair behind her ear. "I missed you."

"Of course you did." Miguel joked with a smile, looking down toward where Cyn had already connected her hand with his. "What have I missed?"

"Do you really want to know?" Cynthia raised a slight brow, tilting her head to the side.

The Diaz boy nodded his head slightly, allowing her to continue as the girl rubbed her thumb along the side of his hand.

"Kreese took over Cobra Kai, Theo's still here somewhere in the hospital, Tory got kicked out of school." The Sari girl paused, letting out a sigh. "and i'm quitting karate."

"What?" Miguels eyes widened at the comment, his heart practically dropping to his feet.

"Kreese took ov—"

"I know that part, my mom told me but... quitting karate?" The Diaz boy knew that him and her were friends before karate, but it's what made them close in the first place.

It was their thing.

"It just doesn't make me happy anymore, you know? Not after everything that happened." Cynthia looked downward, not able to speak while looking into his eyes. "It's not about fun anymore, it's all drama and i've never been one for drama."

"I—... I understand but fully taking karate out of your life? How can you do that when it was something you were used to every day?" Miguel questioned genuinely, making his best friend frown.

"I've been giving up a lot lately." Cyn cleared her throat, biting the inside of her cheek. "I only care about keeping you around right now, and i'll worry about the rest later, okay?"

The Diaz boy nodded his head slightly, touched by the words his friend spoke, because he felt the same way.

WHEN IT WAS TIME TO LET MIGUEL TALK WITH his doctors, Cynthia left with a sense of relief that at least he was alive. He wasn't angry with her, they were in a good place, and at least one piece of her life wasn't in absolute shambles.

Of course, she would need to take care of the rest of her problems but she figured eventually things would work out.

The girl looked up as she made her way down the hall, pausing in place when she seen who was down the hall. He was pushing himself around with a walking chair, inching forward slowly. Cynthia ran forward towards him, her eyes wide.

"Theo?" The girl voiced aloud.

"Cynthia? What are you doing here?" The Antonetti boy asked, looking around the hallway. "Did you get hurt?"

He had noticed the limp in her walk when she was coming his way and it worried him.

"What? No. I—.. I was here seeing Miguel. Are you okay? I haven't seen you since the fight." Cynthia folded her arms across her chest, a sad expression on her face.

"I don't really remember much of what happened that day." Theo lightly shrugged his shoulders. "But I got a mean concussion and I need some physical therapy for a few more days."

"I'm sorry, this is all my fault. I mean, Hawk only did that because of the kis—"

"I kissed you, this was on me. I hope you realize one day that everything is not your fault." The Antonetti boy looked around the hallway before lowering his voice. "I need you to find my cousin for me, we haven't talked in awhile but he needs someone to look about for him and I trust you."

"Who's your cousin?" Cynthia questioned with furrowed brows.

"Robby Keene."
