chapter thirteen.

Brutal — Olivia Rodrigo

CYNTHIA SPENDING A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES with her closest friends was probably the best way she could have possibly spent her time. Her hand was intertwined with Hawk's as the boy threw popcorn into the crowd. Aisha was next to her, and beside Aisha was Miguel.

"Hey, what's wrong?" The girl asked, making the Sari girl turn her attention away from the movie and towards the conversation.

"I can't stop thinking about what Sensei told me about Sam's dad." Miguel replied with a sigh, Cyn feeling her boyfriend keep moving next to her.

"Leave that girl alone." Cynthia nudged him slightly, making the boy frown. "It's all fun and games until you hit the wrong person."

"I'm not going to hit anyone, don't worry about it, babe." Hawk smiled, pressing a kiss against the girls cheek before picking up another piece of popcorn. "See? Look."

He threw the piece and it landed in the girls bucket, both teens quickly looking away, accidentally landing back into Miguel and Aisha's conversation.

"Sam's dad hates Cobra Kai, i'm part of Cobra Kai. So, by the transitive property, Sam's dad is gonna hate me." The Diaz boy said fearfully.

"Jesus Christ, you're such a nerd." Hawk cut in, rolling his eyes slightly.

"If it makes you feel better, I hate them both." Cyn smiled spitefully, making her best friend sigh.

"I'm telling you guys, it's not just in my mind. Sam was acting weird the other day when her dad walked by." Miguel told them, the boy frowning as he looked away from them.

"It's obviously not personal, Sam just has no clue how to form any valid opinion on someone without the input of someone else. In this case, it's her dad." The Sari girl shrugged. "She's scared he won't like you so she's acting weird, it's literally not a big deal, this isn't Romeo and Juliet."

"I've known Mr. LaRusso since third grade. He's a really nice guy. You just have to talk to him." Aisha suggested.

Cyn thought of talking about how he wasn't such a nice guy, being that he ruined her life and all but, she decided it wasn't the time.

"I haven't even been invited over yet. She's probably too afraid to introduce me." The Diaz boy replied solemnly.

"Dude, just go over there. It's an alpha move." Hawk advised, shrugging his shoulders as he threw a piece of popcorn.

"You are so not an alpha." Cynthia rolled her eyes playfully, nudging her boyfriend. "We both know that."

Before he could respond, a voice cut in loudly.

"Who the hell did that?" A man asked, standing up in his seat as he looked around, Hawk positioning himself toward the screen as he held the Sari girls hand tighter.

She laughed, leaning her head onto his shoulder carefully, "Told you that you'd hit the wrong person."

BIANCA AND CYNTHIA RAN OUTSIDE ONCE THEY HEARD SOME CRASHING from outside of their window. When they got there, it was no surprise that the girls Sensei was getting into some sort of fight with a bunch of guys. It was like the blonde man had a trouble magnet glued onto him.

"Oh, what do you know. It's just Johnny, let's go back to our movie—" Bianca was stopped from heading inside as her niece grabbed her arm, pulling her back towards where she was previously standing.

"We can't just leave, we have to help him!" Cynthia insisted, her voice shaky as she worried something really bad was going to happen to her sensei.

He was a prick but, she still sorta cared about him.

"Do you see how big those guys are? No, nuh uh, never go into a fight you can't win." Bianca shook her head in protest, folding her arms across her chest.

"Fine, i'm going." Cyn ran towards them, picking up a bat that one of them had dropped onto the ground.

"Cynthia Sari, get your ass back over here!" The older Sari women yelled.

The teen ran towards one of the men attacking Johnny, swinging the bat in her hands at his knees, making him fall to the ground in pain.

"Take that, asshole!" Cyn yelled, sticking her middle finger up to him as Johnny swung his leg around, kicking the man in the face making the rest of his body fold.

"Good one, mouth." Johnny breathed out, giving her an approving nod.

"I try." The brunette shrugged her shoulders lightly as Bianca ran over, checking the girls face for injuries.

Johnny took that as his chance to walk over to a face that Cynthia could have sworn was familiar.

"Are you okay?" The older Sari woman asked, squeezing her niece's cheeks.

"Yes, I didn't even get into a fight, Bi. I'm fine." Cyn backed away, feeling odd that her aunt had just acted like a parent. She wasn't used to having one of those around anymore, not after how long it had been.

"Hey, asshole!" The Sari's heard someone yell, more specifically the man the younger one had just hit with a bat. "Burn in hell."

He threw something into Johnny's car, lighting it on fire.

"I'm gonna—" Bianca stopped Cynthia from running forward, walking over to the tall man before standing in front of him.

"I wonder if you'll see clouds, maybe some birds." The woman said thoughtfully before bringing her arm back and punching him dead in the face, the man falling back once again. "I hope it's butterflies."

"Shit." Cyn's eyes widened slightly, impressed that her aunt could pack as hard of a punch as she did.

Once they both turned around, Johnny was on one of the men's motorcycles, quickly driving away.

"Time to call the fire department." Bianca noted, shaking her fist out calmly.

It looked like she had done that before.

ELI HAD SHOWN UP ALMOST IMMEDIATELY after his girlfriend called. In her usual dramatic fashion, she had made things seem a lot more crazy than they were and admittedly, he was worried something bad had happened to the girl. So, he made his way there without another thought.

"I hope you know how cute it is that your face looks like that right now." The girl commented, letting her hand brush up against it softly.

"Like what?" The boy asked, furrowing his brows.

"Worried." Cynthia smiled slightly. "I don't get that face from too many people. It's... nice."

"Well when you tell me six foot biker guys could have killed you, I am bound to be worried." The boy admitted, looking down towards the mattress below them.

"I might have exaggerated a little bit, they could have killed Sensei. Technically I just inserted myself into the problem." The Sari girl shrugged. "But I batted the shit out of one of the guys so I feel accomplished."

"That's really badass." Hawk laughed, taking the girls hand into her own. "Remind me not to get on your bad side."

"I thought that was already a given." Cynthia shrugged lightly, letting her head rest on the boys shoulder. "Because i'm not very nice when i'm angry."

"I can tell." The Moskowitz boy shook his head lightly. "If you'd do that just for Sensei, i'd hate to see what you'd do for one of your friends."

"Or you?" Cyn looked up towards the boy, a smile on her face. "Cause i'd fight anyone for you too."

"I don't need you to fight for me, i'm an Alpha, remember?" Hawk joked, his girlfriend smacking his chest.

"Don't make me hurl, you can pull that shit with everyone else but not me." Cynthia shook her head. "I know you too well."

"Yeah, you do."
