chapter ten.

Savage — Bahari

CYNTHIA SHUT HER EYES TIGHTLY AS THE TATTOO artist put the finishing touches on her new ink. Eli laid in the bed next to her getting his done, both of them holding hands tightly, both going through the pain of it together. The night had somehow turned into this, neither of them actually making it home after practice.

"All done." The Sari girl felt a layer of cool gel cover her shoulder, where the tattoo was placed. "Take a look before I bandage it up."

Cyn sat up, looking in the mirror behind her, the North Star was perfectly placed on her shoulder and was exactly what she had wanted. Her father used to tell her stories about how the north star was the one point that they'd both be looking at, no matter how far they were from each other.

...and they were far.

"I love it." The girl smiled as the artist nodded, placing a bandage over it carefully. "You okay, El?"

"Mhm, yeah, sure." The boy nodded but it was incredibly evident that he was in pain by the way he shut his eyes, reaching for her hand.

Cynthia took it into her own, letting him squeeze her hand when needed. After about an hour and a half, his was finally finished and bandaged up like her own and the two were ready to leave.

"Ladies first." The newly named Hawk opened the door, letting the shorter girl walk about before him.

"What a gentleman, really, I can't believe it." Cyn laughed slightly and waited a few seconds before his arm was rested over her shoulder.

"You know, it's weird but, today was one of the best days of my life." The Moskowitz boy admitted, he wasn't as shy as he was before but there was still hints of it in his voice as he spoke.

"That happens when you find something that makes you happy. You have karate, your new hair—"

"and you." The boy quickly interrupted.

"Me?" Cynthia looked up towards the boy. "That's a new one i've never heard before."

"You have now." Eli shrugged. "I can keep telling it to you over and over too."

"That actually sounds really fun but, once we get you home I have to go see Miguel. Best friend crisis." The Sari girl smiled. "You know how it is, Demetri is probably really dramatic when he's upset."

"Yeah, sure I get it." Hawk smiled weakly at her, reaching for her hand which automatically intertwined with his. "Do you want to go out tomorrow?"

"With the guys? That would be fun, it's been awhile." Cynthia wore a smile on her face although her shoulder felt like it was burning beyond repair. She just loved having a glimmer of happiness in her dark world, whether it was holding hands with Eli, cooking for Bianca, or drinking slushies with Miguel.

"No, just us. I guess we can go out with them before or after though." The Moskowitz boy shrugged, something seemed off about him but the Sari girl was too oblivious in her own happy bubble that she didn't even notice.

"Is this you asking me on a date, El?" Cyn stopped almost immediately, standing in front of him and holding his other hand, grinning from ear to ear.

"Y-..yes?" He looked way more nervous than he should've been considering the confessions the two had made to each other over the past day and a half.

"I guess you'll be picking me up at six tomorrow night, and you better not be late or else i'll be tempted to join Bianca in her daily scheduled routine of sulking and ice cream." The Sari girl joked.

"I promise, it's a deal." He replied.

It was a date.

CYNTHIA WAS READY TO SPAR WITH MIGUEL AS SOON AS HE opened the dojo doors. She didn't let him drop his bag, in Cobra Kai there was no mercy and she wouldn't ignore that just because they were best friends. The girl kicked him in the back, making the boy fall over as they both laughed.

"Come on, get up, Miggy. I didn't even kick you that hard." The Sari girl threw her bag to the other side of the room and assumed the fighting stance they were taught in class.

"That's how we are going to play? Fine, bring it." The Diaz boy ran at her, raising his hand in a quick motion. She stopped it from hitting her but, the taller boy used it as a way to flip her over and onto the ground.

"Is somebody a bit angry?" Cynthia teased, raising a brow before using her leg to push her best friend off of her.

"No, but we are both trying to prove a point to each other, aren't we?" Miguel and the Sari girl both got up to their feet, each assuming the fighting stance from practice yet again. The only question was, who would make the first move.

"I guess we are." Cyn was the first to run at him, as expected. She wasn't patient enough to wait, and he knew that. He knew her almost better than he knew himself.

The Diaz boy used that as an opportunity. He waited for her to get closer before throwing a punch forward, it hit her in the stomach and the girl immediately stumbled backward.

She quickly snapped out of it, brushing away the temporary pain that circulated across her stomach and hit back. The two had observed the others moves so precisely that eventually, the fight started to consist of both of them blocking each others hits.

"Ready to give up?" Miguel asked, laughing as Cynthia was getting backed up towards the wall.

"Not a chance." The Sari girl continued to fight but, it was in vein as she backed up completely against the wall breathing heavily. Even a minute fighting can render you breathless, it takes a lot more energy than one would think. "Go ahead then, finish me."

"We aren't in mortal combat." The Diaz boy snorted slightly, covering his mouth immediately after.

Cyn ran up with the space that was between them, trying to catch him off guard. With any of the other people in the dojo, it would have worked but not with him. Miguel used his arms to push her back against the wall, pinning her there proudly.

"One point, Miggy." He said, laughing slightly.

"Pft, that's just one. Watch what happens when I get more training in me, then i'll be unstoppable." Cynthia responded confidently. She knew she could do anything she set her mind to so, it was just a matter of time.

The Diaz boy shook his head, both teens looking awkwardly into each other eyes. There had never been a moment quite like this between them. So close, neither knowing what to do.

Cyn cleared her throat, "So, what did you call this best friend meeting for?"

Miguel backed up almost immediately, clearing his throat too.

"It's about Sam." The boy spoke awkwardly.

Well, that wasn't expected.

AUTHORS NOTE —
ANOTHER CHAPTER!? So quickly? Well, this is certainly something new. I must be growing, or not updating any of my other 5000 books that could be it too.

I promise I will be giving her more time with other characters, especially when Theo joins but for now Hawk, Miguel, Bianca, Johnny, and Aisha are like the most important people to her story (demetri is in there too lmfao)

Hope you enjoyed!
