chapter forty five.

Let it hurt — Daniel Saint James

NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DID CYNTHIA THINK that her life would end up like this. Little Cyn didn't know her parents would split up, or leave her, and she really didn't think even a few short months ago that her mother would win custody. She had a few short days to pack her things, then, it was the end of an era.

She was going to live, sleep, and eat right behind enemy lines.

Her, Simon, and Bianca sat at the table together solemnly, not sure what they could possibly do from here. In this case, the system had failed them and there wasn't much to go on moving forward. Could they even fight this?

"It's not fair that just because they have money they can take her away. How did they even speed up the process this fast?" Bianca asked with a scoff, placing her head in her hands.

"I'm sure he paid someone off, it only makes sense." Simon locked his jaw slightly, he needed to be strong for those he loved so tears were not an option.

"So we prove that he paid someone off and get her back here where she belongs." The older Sari woman concluded, clapping her hands together.

She had been an absolute mess since finding out that Cynthia might he getting taken away and, now that it was real she was broken.

Cyn stayed silent, dreading every moment of all of this.

"I don't know if its going to be that easy." Simon sighed, shaking his head. "You know what? Cyn, don't worry about all this right now. Go spend time with your friends, you need it."

"But—"

"No buts, go. We are going to figure this all out." Simon instructed.

... but, would they really?

CYNTHIA WALKED INTO THE EAGLE FANG COMPOUND with a heavy heart. She wore a frown as she entered, the boys having already started practice. It looked like they were discussing something important so, she quietly walked over, making sure to not interrupt anything.

"Cyn, hey!" Miguel smiled brightly at the sight of his girlfriend and lightly hugged her before pressing a kiss against her nose. "We were just talking about the All-Valley's."

"There's a new girls division, it's got your name written all over it." Johnny spoke, this being the only knew category he was confidant they could do well in.

Cynthia's heart dropped knowing she wouldn't be  able to help them, and her eyes drifted to the floor.

"Yeah its pretty much up for you or Sam to win."
Theo concluded with a shrug and playful smile.

"No, Mouth's got this in the bag, that's one category down, we just have to figure everything else ou—"

"I'm not going to be able to fight for Eagle Fang." Cynthia interrupted, inhaling a sharp breath.

"What are you talking about?" Miguel questioned with furrowed brows, his hand was gently rested on the girls lower back. "You were getting back into karate, I thought you'd be happy to do this."

"Is this about me not listening to you after the conversation we had cause—"

"No, no, I would have. I just—... my mom got custody." Cynthia finally blurted it out, and now that everyone knew, it had all become more real.

The room stayed silent for a moment and nobody said anything in shock.

"No... how—.. she can't just do that." Miguel's eyes looked sad as his hand dropped from her and he ran it through his hair in stress.

"I'll help you all find a girl to replace me, you'll do fine i'm sure of it." Cyn spoke, lightly clearing her throat to keep from crying.

Johnny was hurt by what was happening but, preferred not to show his feelings in front of his students.

"Do uh..., do any of you know some girls?" He questioned in order to change the subject, the whole room was silent. "Of course not."

WHILE CYNTHIA PACKED MIGUEL, THEO, AND Johnny tried their best to gain a new female recruit. They knew they weren't loosing Cynthia forever, they'd go go school together, continue to hang out but, it wasn't the same and they were all in bad spirits. She was someone they'd always all cherish, and they were losing a piece of her.

"How are you feeling about this, buddy?" Theo questioned thoughtfully as he flexed his arm, Johnny thinking it was a good idea to get girls by them showing off their good looks.

"This whole thing? I'd rather not have all this body oil on me but—"

"No, dude. The Cynthia thing. She's not gonna live in our building anymore, she won't be at practice, how do you feel about all that?" The Antonetti boy wondered with a brow raised.

"Oh—... I uhm..." Miguel cleared his throat and straightened himself out, surprised by the question. "It feels unfair. I waited so long to be with her like I am now, and now that's all going to change. We usually do everything together and now we just.. can't."

The boy sighed and shook his head lightly, not wanting to get too emotional.

"I don't want her to worry about me though. I'm just going to be there to support her until she feels better." The Diaz teen concluded.

"You're right. It's a deal then, we will help her, and try not to put more pressure on her." Theo nodded, a certain sadness pulling at his heart.

He would always care for Cynthia in a way nobody could understand.

"These chicks aren't taking the bait, I think you guys are going to need more baby oil." Johnny concluded as he began walking toward the two teens.

They exchanged an annoyed look and shook their heads.

BY NOW, CYNTHIA HAD TOLD EVERYONE THAT she was going to be moving back toward her old neighborhood and joining Cobra Kai. Everyone took the news differently, and some more dramatically than others but she knew they'd be okay. Her heart was heavy though, because she wasn't sure if she would be or not.

"If you think we're just going to welcome you with open arms because thats what the sensei's want, you're wrong." A voice spoke behind the girl.

She gently pulled out her headphones, shut her locker, and turned to face them.

"So, you apologize to Sam but you still hate me? You're lucky you're even in school still after what you did." Cyn scoffed lightly, starting to walk down the hallway.

"Me and her never got along but, you were my best friend, and you betrayed me." Tory spoke, the two girls walking down the hall. "I just have one question, why did you do that to me?"

"Tor, do you see me dating Theo? Have I ever kissed him again? No. When that happened, I was barely over Eli and I am not that type of friend. Theo was drunk, we were reminiscing about a time that was before either of us met you, and he kissed me. That was all and it never got to anything more." Cynthia shook her head. "I have more important things in my life to worry about than you liking me so, if you and the rest of the Cobra Kai assholes want to mess with me, bring it on."

The Sari girl scoffed and sped up, walking away from the situation that could have easily escalated.

"Cyn, hey!" Miguel quickly ran up to his girlfriend down the hall, lightly grabbing her arm. "What was that all about?"

"Tory made it clear her and the other Cobra Kai's don't want me there, and i'm okay with that." Cynthia felt angry tears threaten to pour out of her eyes. "I am not gonna let bullies start getting the best of me now."

Miguel frowned and pulled the shorter girl into his chest tightly, "i'm here, and i'm always going to be here no matter how far you are."

"I know." The Sari girl inhaled a deep breath and savored the hug as much as she could. "I know."

She felt the exact same way.

EVERY TIME SOMEONE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR Cynthia's heart leaped against her chest. She was afraid it was someone coming to get her earlier than expected, or some more bad news getting delivered to her door. Just something bad in general.

"Hello—" she furrowed her brows slightly. "Hey, Johnny. Bianca's out buying things for our last dinner, you can join if you want."

"I will but uh, I came to see you. I know you're leaving tomorrow, and you won't be me student anymore, and you know I hate to get sappy but—"

Cynthia didn't wait for the man to say anything else, she simply threw her arms around him and pulled him into a tight hug.

"You're one of the people who made me proud to be a sensei so, thank you." The man relaxed into the hug for a few moments and the two pulled away. "I believe in you."

"That was the nicest thing you've ever said to me, sensei." Cyn smiled lightly. "Guess all it takes for you to be nice is me getting shipped off to hell."

"Nothing you can't get through." Johnny shrugged, a faint smile on his face.

It was obvious he wasn't happy with the situation but, there wasn't much he could do to help.

"Hey, J." Bianca smiled lightly as her and Simon walked towards the apartment with grocery bags in their hands. "You joining us? Carmen, Miguel, and Yaya are coming."

"Are you doing the cooking?" The blonde man asked his girlfriend with a raised brow.

"No, of course not. I'm leaving that to the professionals." Bianca commented, pointing toward Simon.

"Then i'm in."
